  1. I think it was red, red or, possibley red, not sure which!
  2. Congratulations to the winner(s), there was some tough competition, well done
  3. I remember seeing a prototype 8043 around here, it was the very first proof of concept for the gearbox, bearly recognisable even as an excavator. I may have said this before but I also remember seeing a prototype for 8485 control centre 2 helicopter. I remember it being red and had a base/mechanism similar to the one fould in a technic idea book (the yellow plane model). Would love to see more.
  4. Well i'm voting UKIP. The three main parties have proven themselves to be not what we want or need. Mr Farage seems to be one of the few politions left who actually has a clue.
  5. I think the earliest genesis of studless first started to appear in 1996 with the bent liftarms in sets like 8480. 8455 from 2003 was the first flagship completely studless set. It's interesting that there was no technic (discounting starwars and re-releases) released the year before. Coincedence? As for why, I would guess the main reason is cost. Studless parts are simpler and therefore (in this case anyway) cheaper to make, not to mention less plastic is required. There are other pros and cons of course, but I think TLGs main reason is cost.
  6. Unfortunately I do not think the touch sensor is directly compatible with the PF system, you will need a device intended to work with them like the RCX brick or barcode truck scanner (code pilot). The remote reciever is powered by the outer two wires (9v and 0v shown in the above diagram) and the extention wire being powered by the control centre is only powered on the two inner wires (c1 and c2 in the above diagram). So you may need to bridge the contacts, as shown in this TBs post. http://technicbricks.blogspot.co.uk/2009/11/tbs-techtips-28-connecting-pf-receiver.html
  7. Yeah, the compressor is fairly poor. Modifying it so that the full stroke is used is now much more intuative with the new unimog pump. You don't have to create that half stud offset. This should make 8868 much more playable.
  8. I brought one MISB a couple years ago, of course it didn't stay MISB for long!
  9. For me, this is probably the easiest decision ever, 8868 all the way!
  10. I'de also like to see large blue kits, as well as large white kits (8480  ) Imagine a large dark blue or white supercar! OMG!
  11. I'de like to see proper speed changing transmission type gearboxes as common as the engine. Most vevicles that have an engine have a gearbox, not just supercars, why has TLG never released a truck with a gearbox? Why has it taken them over 30 years to release a truck with suspention? (And here comes my plea for new parts yet again ). You see with some new parts, like synchro mesh gears with 24, 22, 20 and 18 teeth to go with the 16t one we already have, and a redesign of the basic switching part so that the driving ring plus 2 gears is 3 studs long instead of four, we could have mechanicly simpler gearboxes (lower cost, easier for kids to assemble, understand and build MOCs with their own gearboxes) but also more realistic (read authentic), robust and efficient (less internal friction) gearboxes for us AFOLs that wish to motorise the whole vehicle. These new parts along with the cool mechanism required for changing gears would bring new things to the table as well as giving kids something to see happening. It also seems that TLG are releasing two flagships per year now, one in about March for the kids (8070) and one in the summer aimed more towards AFOLs (8110), so if they plan on releasing a proper supercar as a main flagship in the coming years (I have a hunch they will) then I expect to see it bring something totally new to the table along the lines i've mentioned here. Actually, it could go much further than that when it comes to realism. Wishbones for example are usually trangular and spaced much further apart (like they was in 8880) to hold the wheel more firmly and to provide more room for suspention elements and a CV joint that is big enough to take lots of strain whilst also able to move to very large angles, again more like 8880, but then that particular setup created so much friction you were lucky if no drive train elements broke before the car even started to move! You could argue that todays CVs are puny so they have the ability to be used in smaller sets however, this ability has never been used in the 10 or 11 years they have been around. So, yeah, what was the question again?
  12. It depends on how badly they are leaking. I have tried it before in the past, it seems the thicker the lubricant the better for stopping minor leaks.
  13. I'm not completely sure why it works either, but sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. If you have a suitable lubricant lying around it's worth a try. I don't think the newer cylinders have this problem, not one of my newer style cylinders have leaked.
  14. You could try a silicone based lubricant. Sometimes that works, just make sure it's one that won't corrode the seals as most lubricants will.
  15. I would love a rollercoaster tycoon liscence. Imagine all the cool coaster track pieces clicking together just like in the game. Also you could have many smaller sets of things like the swinging ship and so on. Really it could be a massive theme.
  16. Hello from shitty England, where freedom and tolerance is dead on it's feet and all the people are too spoon fed by a government controlled media to notice and where the wheather sucks and where the only thing anyone seems to care about is football and where in a country that does not stop raining there's talk about hosepipe bans and where the government in power is the ones the vast majority did not vote for and where i'm stuck working my butt off working stupidly long hours whilst Beyonce is the only person played on the radio singing about how crap I am because I happen to be male and where the pay is taxed so that those who can't be bothered to work can bang out a few kids and claim benefits. Long live England, by that I mean I hope it f5$k£&g sinks! Only kidding, they play alot of Adele on the radio too!
  17. Well there's mine I guess. Wish I had more time to design/build it but I had to do it in two weeks for the technic competition. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=420770 I have since replaced the universal joint in the rotor head with a standard axle connector so instead of the whole head tilting when using the cyclic controls, the individual blades change pitch as it turns. It also has collective control, dual controls, winch, stretcher, moving landing gear and is motorised. Unfortunately run out of time to figure out how to control the angle of the rear blades. Your solution for that is great.
  18. That's awesome, looks very authentic.
  19. Yes becuase no set before LAs had any kind of functionality at all, yeah, right! Sorry, couldn't resist
  20. Sorry this was an April fools joke, but i'de still love it to be true!
  21. There has already been much discussion. We are all waiting for more information about the new motors (L-motor and servo motor)
  22. That made me think of achmed the dead terrorist!
  23. Oh yes you was, you bought it hook, line and sinker, didn't you, DIDN'T YOU, yeah I though so, ya big jessie
