Very original MOC! I wasn't aware that the helmets fit snugly on the ostrich's head, great detail! Your palm tree construction is also very nice! Simply great!

Thansk for the great review! As far as Pitstop should be spelled two words, the way Guido pronounces it in the first movie it is like half a word. :-) I also got the set on Monday and some point to add, notably the differences in the US versus European packing: The Box: - It does not carry the ugly "WARNING" message. Just a crisp picture of the scene with only the set numer and the age range. - The message is on the side of the box, much smaller nevertheless. And it warns you from "Small balls inside" WHERE?!?! Looking all over, but could not find them, so small... whatever: No further comment on small balls... - It also carries parts from Mexico. - It has the perfect size and it contains all the bags/stickers/instructions perfectly and wrinkly free, not much space to move around when shaking. Parts: - Really nice ones, the new Slope Curved used as rear and front fender will be of great use. - Aqua respectively Light Aqua, not so much of a fan, it is too close to White in my opinion - Dear Lego, where are your printed flags gone? - AND I am especially sad that the "95" tile is not printed! - Antenna: Mine came still with the rounded top Characters: Really extra cute! They are instant favourites, they are on my desk at work, looking great. The remaining items stuff will be recycled... In my opinion the roof of Luigi looks like he's wearing a cap, we need to see the movie before we can decide what they intended to show with this part.

Nice haul! However, the flames are the new type, right? the one you cannot connect? I envy your windows! PS: what do you do with 10k of flames?

Hello Alban, I am especially looking forward to the configurable connection points. This would make BB very useful for the Moonbase planning. Right now I draw the modules using the "Train" connection point to mark corridors, but making configurable ones is great as we can distiguish between the height of the corridor connections. i.e. 40, 41, 42, 43 where the first digit from the right defines the height. oh, yes!

I saw those machines in Italy last year as well. It was on some Highway Service station in South Tyrol. The price for them was considerable higher as far as i remember. Must have a picture somewhere...

Snowgroomer, but I don't know any "orange" manufacturer... -
Beautiful! Neat details, like the tracks of the vehicle! This is really good to watch, like you called it, tranquility! fW

Thanks for all your comments! I'm happy to read your favourable replies! You can never have enough corridors! Those will be used within a bigger base that is first of all due for an exhibition in June and then later for our annual "Bricking Bavaria" event in November in Munich. I am planning/building right now a kind of security base using nearly the same colour-scheme, actually a bit more black. In June this will be limited to one 48x48 baseplate, for November it should grow to at least three. Don't worry I keep you posted!

After seeing no Moonbasse related thread for some time here, it is about time to intoduce my newly finished corridors here. First of all the standard version, streching the full 48 studs: It does need a lot of the bus windscreens, but the result using those windscreens is just great in my opinion! The bellow-like connectors at both ends are compatible to the pins of the standard corridor connectors. Due to the rounded shape and having the pipes structure fit properly (aestetically) the top is two plates above the standard and the bottom extends one plate. However that should still allow the monorail pass well undr the connector! The SNOT is done in a way that the inhabitants can still pass through . As an extension to the standard full length corridor I have done a "half"-lenght corridor to allow for a modular system to piece them together as you need for the events, L-, T or X shape. Of course also I but well, we have the standard piece... The center section and the covers for un-used attachment are not 100% finished yet but that time is coming closer courtesy of BL. Final deliveries shall be made soon, and I am looking forward to that! freakWave

VOTING: Design a Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) set

The points go to: Entry #2 - 1 point Entry #12 - 2 points Entry #21 - 2 points Entry #27 - 1 point Entry #39 - 1 point Very hard choice! Great MOCs everybody! -
I think you refer to this thread concerning some 10213 Service Pack. However the instruction PDF lists a total of 29 extra parts. So 1230 - 1204 = 26 pieces comes close to the new count...

Congrats! This is a ingenious MOC! Great roof constrution and tha tdone on such a tight deadline! hat off!

Most valuable technic set.
freakwave replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
.. but I think it was only available for a rather short period. I recently got a second one on a flea-market for an incredible 15 EUR! It was dusty though, but after having everything cleaned properly it looks shineas new with no scratches on the liftarms, love it! -
Regarding the dust, also heavy dust on plates, I sort the parts by size and then soak them in warm water and soap. I soak them for about 15-30 minutes, then rinse them with warm water, finally cold. This gave me very good results. I had some very dusty 8 x 16 plates which are not easy to be cleaned. I rinse them multiple times as some used Lego may be in a good condition but stored in woolbags etc, leaving hairballs etc. around... Alternatively for lots of parts I put them in a net and this one in a cushion-cover. The qhole assembly into the washing machine. Also quite good

Electromechanical gearbox
freakwave replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
hi Zblj, two main comments, let me first adress the latter part of the video, this is a simple but great idea! It looks hilarious having the two or even one "system" control itself. Next step would be building a discreet NXT Now to the first part concerning your gearbox. I'm very split on seeing it as a good or bad idea. The good part is coming from my construction heart and I like the idea behind it to achieve a turbo/power boost function. The bad part is coming from my electrical engineering heart which is a bid sad for seeing a high stalling current going through the both, but mainly the PF-M motor. Now why I thinkg so: As your diagram shows and you wrote, the motors are in serial connection. Usually they would each need 9V, however as they are in serial, they are effectively sharing the voltage which makes it 4,5 V per motor. Now you have stalled the PF-XL. It would "just" draw current, the voltage would drop a bit. Leaving a bit more for the PF-M. Next step is stalling the PF-M. Here in my opinion the problem starts. The current is increasing in a stalled motor, voltage drops for the PF-M, leaving more for the PF-XL which can overide the mechanical blocking by the cluth gear. For some time now the PF- has may be a higher current through it that it was designed for. So far for the theory, I did not do any measurement to proof my arguments, but thats what theory says. (Philo did a lot of measurements so may be he could help with figures) May be I go down to the basement and measure myself later today fW -
May be different lenghts for the track pieces?

6-part-circle
freakwave replied to Cubix's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A lot depends on how you define the perfect cricle. Makeing a 6-segment thing in Technic is no issue as there are plenty of parts that give you a 60 degree angle. How large you want to make the circle? How many studs should the radius be? How smooth should be the outer side? Should it look like a hexagon or do you want the sixth to be further divided? Think of those and then take Phytagoras and do the math Have a look my smaller ferris wheel. It is quite close to a circle having 43 sections. Now this does not divide very well by six but if you take 13L Liftarms instead of 15L Liftarms you will end up with 36 sections. I make a spreadsheet for the calculation to find a good match in terms of Lego-Units/studs (+/- 0.05 studs) in order not to stress the construction too much. But be ware! this IS parts intense, 516 thick liftarms (5, 7 and 15L), 334 thin Liftarms (5 and 7L) and finally 516 long technic pins. Keeping the two halfes together are a few axle 12L and technic pins with bush fW -
