  1. It's interesting Lego's not nixed this idea, but the second it does (assuming that happens), we can expect a ton of bad PR will come its way. I wonder what scope there would be for running one chunk of the Cuusoo project as a small, cheap set, such as the scientists? (As for Friends, isn't the point being made that standard Lego has an absurd distribution ratio when it comes to standard minifigs, and so this could address the balance in a small way?) In possibly related news, I really want that dinosaur skeleton. It looks ace. I'd buy that over the Ghostbusters car in a second.
  2. To be fair, if I was expecting a Persian restaurant and ended up with little fake stone croissants, I'd be annoyed too. Or something.
  3. Curious definition of City these days, unless the city has moved to the Antarctic. Nice-looking set though.
  4. It'd be interesting to know sales vs. stock for this model. It's been out of stock at least twice now on Lego's GB store. (Now stating shipping in two weeks.)
  5. Those (few) toy stores that carry the modulars as a matter of course may still have some stock. There were three in the Reading branch of John Lewis last weekend, for example. (Oddly, the item is not listed on the company's website, though, but if you're British and fancy a Fire Brigade, it might be worth giving them a call. The company does also ship internationally, but I imagine that'd be colossally expensive for a modular.) I was almost tempted to grab them, store them, and then sell them, but figured I hate seeing Green Grocers and the like going for high prices, and so by leaving them, there's a chance someone'll grab a Fire Brigade for its usual 99 quid, and not a small fortune.
  6. FB's are still in the channel, note. As I mentioned on another thread, I saw three in John Lewis in Reading last weekend. http://www.johnlewis.com/our-shops/reading
  7. That's really lovely. In another universe, I'm happily buying that for 150 quid on shop.lego.com.
  8. Incidentally, if you're British, after one of these still and don't care for scalpers, try John Lewis. The one in Reading had three on the shelves when I visited on Friday. (The only other modular they stocked was, oddly, Town Hall.)
  9. I wonder how much of the appeal might be in new custom. I recently bought my first new (versus retro) Lego for myself since I was a kid: the Fire Brigade modular. I showed it to my wife, and then the rest of the modulars. (Her reaction was basically "so are you going to get all of them?" which was rather nice!) The ones that really caught her eye: PR and the cinema, but especially the PR. I guess it's all pretty subjective, but I really like the restaurant too.
