DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
TheBatstan replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't think it's a GWP this time because it was given a price from the very beginning when it was first leaked (the 1989 Batmobile GWP had a price of $30 USD/40 CAD but that was only if you looked it up on Lego Shop@Home). I also remember seeing the placeholder info for it listed on the Walmart.com website before it got removed recently, so it's definitely not something that's just exclusive to Lego Stores or a freebie. -

With the new Seinfeld Ideas set making the bald top hairpiece have black hair on the side instead of grey/white for the very first time, I really think the timing couldn't be better to FINALLY get an Alfred figure based on his appearance in DC Super Villains. The design in the game is practically a modernized version of how he looked in the 2006 Batman theme, he's the only version that also had black hair. And if you don't count the Alfreds we got with the '66 Batcave or The Lego Batman Movie, there STILL hasn't been a standard DC Super Heroes/comics version of Alfred that's been made. It's crazy that this theme is hitting 10 years next year, and not once has there been a decision to at least include him in one of the many Batcaves that have been made over that period of time. But thanks to the George Costanza figure getting that hairpiece, it's slightly more possible now. -

Like I've said before, if Lego does decide to go with Joker for both Tumbler sets, I can see one of the variants being his vest look that he had when he was in his prison cell/the interrogation scene. The vest printing and sleeves would make it different enough from the last version that had the purple coat on. And like the '66 Joker in the Batmobile set getting an updated torso and legs that pretty much looked 99% identical to the one from the '66 Batcave, the other Joker could be the same full purple coat design but with *slightly* different printing compared to the last one. Or who knows, Lego might finally give us Nurse Joker just for kicks. I can't wait to see the Batman minifigure they go with though. For years I've had to put up with owning the original 2008 Dark Knight and 2013 Dark Knight Rises minifigures that were both completely inaccurate thanks to being dark grey instead of all black like it's supposed to be. Hell, I remember using a black Sharpie to make the 2008 minifigure more "accurate" (I was 9 alright). Up till now, the only way to get a proper all black Nolan Batsuit was either spending too much on Bricklink for the Batman Begins suit, or praying for a miracle that someone lists the 2011 New York Comic-Con exclusive Dark Knight/Rises Batman figure for a good price. Personally I hope we get the best of both worlds with the Begins Batsuit with the minifigure scale Tumbler, and the Dark Knight Batsuit with the new D2C Tumbler, mainly because I associate the Begins suit with the Tumbler more as that was the suit he wore the longest while he had the Tumbler. The Dark Knight Batsuit was only used with the Tumbler for maybe 5 minutes before it got blown up and he switched to using the Bat-Pod/The Bat for the remainder of the trilogy. -

Devil's Advocate here, it's not like those 4 Batmobiles are all clones of each other. The '66, '89, Tumbler, and Battinson (Pattmobile?) Batmobiles are all vastly different designs from different film incarnations, so there would be a variety of options for people to choose from. -

Funny coincidence, I actually brought up the same thing a few posts back. I think it's a guarantee that Lego will release the Keaton Batmobile again as one of the sets. The GWP version sold out within hours when the UCS 1989 Batmobile came out, and that was a freebie. Imagine how crazy it would sell if they made it a general release set this time. I already modified the GWP version to look more accurate with the details, but I wouldn't say no to buying it again if Lego made some changes. I'm talking a new windscreen piece (or at the very least a sticker) that gives it the separated window look, being able to fit two minifigures using the Speed Champions two seater base piece, brick built fins instead of the one piece bat fins, changing the side intakes with the barrel pieces to black rather than dark bluish grey, and 1x1 round tile pieces with the silver bat logo printed on them for the hubcaps. Knowing Lego it probably will have stud shooters to represent the machine guns again, but those will be easy to swap out as they were the first time. -

We're pretty much twins. I really can't wait to see how Lego does Battinson's Batmobile with all the recent innovations they've made with the Speed Champions line like introducing the two seater car piece and making those models as sleek and accurate to the real things. My expectations for it are pretty high, but if it doesn't end up looking the best, then I also plan on using Gervant's design as a backup. I think we will get a new cowl mold, none of the existing versions matches the unique design that Battinson's has. It's not like Lego can just reuse a comic cowl and call it a day like they did with the Batfleck minifigure using the New 52 cowl. -

Well at least with Keaton being in The Flash, and the new Batman '89 comic series that's set after Batman Returns, it's clear that the Burton and Schumacher movies are in completely separate timelines now. Also there was a leaked video yesterday that showed off some concept art from The Flash movie, and one of the images showed the 1989 Batmobile in a redesigned Batcave. What are the odds that Lego rereleases the same design again after they just made it with the 40433 GWP set? -

You and me both, since The Batman sets got pushed to next year. The first time in 13 years since we'll get another black Tumbler instead of tan, and one that won't be as oversized as the 2008 version, or barely accurate/detailed like the 2013 Bane version. -

Just for completionist's sake, I wouldn't mind if Lego keeps this Batmobile trend going with the Kilmer and Clooney Batmobiles, as goofy as they are. But right now I've just been constantly refreshing my Instagram feed to see when the minifigure scale Tumbler pics will be revealed since we just got the No Way Home set pics which are coming out in the same month. -

Well, looks like we finally got an answer from the Super Heroes design team about why DC was so light on sets compared to Marvel this year thanks to Brick Fanatics getting the chance to ask them questions. And their answer is pretty much what we all assumed it would be: the movies. Sorry to interrupt the leaks discussion, but did anyone else's Daily Bugle arrive with a damaged box? I opened up mine from the brown box and the very first thing I see is a giant crease running down the side of the actual box. I really hope nothing got damaged inside. -

HQ pics of the '66 cowl box are out. Getting images of this set that's not even due to come out till October makes me wonder if the same can happen for both the 76239 and 76240 Tumblers. -

Holy Spanish Inquisition, high quality pics just came out of nowhere in the usual place of a Batman '66 cowl helmet/bust. And according to the Spanish Lego Shop@Home website that it was found from, this IS the 76238 set. -

First off, welcome to the club. In terms of a Batmobile, that's really where the answer lies in the eye of the beholder. There's been so many Batmobiles made over the years by Lego that it really comes down to a matter of preference. Do you prefer a sleek Batmobile, or a more tank-like Batmobile? This list on Brickset pretty much covers every single Batmobile big and small, movie or otherwise that Lego has released, which should be useful to show your options. Personally I still have a big soft spot for the original 2006 version since it was the very first one, but I guess the definitive Batmobile for me would have to be the 40433 1989 Batmobile. Lego has made a number of Batmobiles in the past that were based on the 1989 design, but this one was their first "official" version of the 1989 Batmobile. It's sleek, it has a low profile, it even has a spinning flame feature when you move the back wheels. I know it goes for crazy prices online, but the good news is that nothing about the set is exclusive besides the sticker for the display stand. So unless you really wanted the box or the sticker, you can get all the pieces on Bricklink, or even modify it to look more accurate to the real thing (which is what I'm doing). But I'll still be collecting any of the major movie/TV Batmobiles that Lego will push out, including the alleged minifig scale Tumbler that's coming out in October, as well as the one from The Batman when it releases next year. For a Dick Grayson Robin, Lego has made a couple official versions of him. There's the 60s TV Series version which also doubles for his classic suit from the comics, just be prepared to pay a little extra for him. Besides that there's the more modern design based on his New 52 costume, his design from the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon, or even The Lego Batman Movie version (even though that's more of a parody). With Joker, you're options are a little thinner. I'm not really sure what you mean by short green hair, but besides the original 2006 version, Lego has been using the exact same Joker figure design since 2012 save for a few outfit changes here and there. This list features all the variants, but you'll find that most of them are the same excluding the Duplo, CMF, The Lego Batman Movie, and the Caesar Romero/Jack Nicholson/Heath Ledger minifigures. -

After seeing the Bugle listed as "temporarily out of stock" on my Shop@Home, I'm now a little glad I decided to pull the trigger as soon as it hit 12 AM. Though that message makes me wonder if this means that they've reached the limit for VIP members to get one via early access and now have to keep the rest for the general population on June 1st, or if they'll be able to restock it on the site in time for the June 1st release date. -

Hopefully Kraven comes back with a better face this time. While the rest of the 2016 Kraven minifigure is perfection, that head is not even close. He'd look more accurate if you gave him any Tony Stark head than that Jurassic World head (which ironically enough was first used for the character played by Vincent D'Onofrio, so Kraven was technically Kingpin). -

I've never really bought a D2C of this size before, but until now I always thought that something that was worth as much as the Bugle wouldn't sell out quickly because it's not like everyone has $300 USD/$400 CAD to spare. Make no mistake I'm still getting it the minute the clock strikes 12 tonight, but is there really a risk of it selling out in a matter of hours or even minutes if you aren't fast enough? -

I was more referring to how it was stylized on the sticker with the wave details: I did consider that one when I was looking at all the different torsos that have ties on Bricklink, and Ernie's does match the closest to this picture of Robbie: I was hesitant on using it though since it still looks like a torso piece that would belong on an old man, which Robbie really isn't. But at this point it might just be the only option. I've seen a lot of people use the Marty McFly head (mainly for MCU Peter), and the 2004 Peter Parker's head still can work reasonably well as a current minifigure. The yellow faced version of it has been used hundreds of times for generic City minifigures, but seeing as how it first appeared in a flesh tone in the Spider-Man 2 sets, I still see it as Tobey Maguire's face in minifigure form:
