  1. [pid][/pid] 115D While this forum is awash in great Black Pearl MOCs, I wanted to share mine as well. Two Black Pearl sets were used in addition to some pieces from my collection and a few small Bricklink orders. flickr Main View Rear View with Lights Captains Cabin Ship Deck
  2. Let me know if you need more pictures or details from the model referenced here.
  3. Wow this MOC looks amazing and I love how the story is built into the creation instead of just an afterthought. Keep up the fantastic work!
  4. I'm not sure if I can add thesee, but anyway, here's my shameless plug Used Boat pieces ebay link Some armada and imperial minifigures ebay link
  5. I find this MOC particularly appalling...though you could probably guess why. Great job with the whole scene and nice use of the customer parts.
  6. I think he got a pretty good deal for the amount of figures and pieces in the auction. They were listed as used and Lego do tend to crack over time. I would call his bluff and have him send it all back for a refund.
  7. Just a question on acquiring parts for use in your MOCs. Do you use Bricklink, Lego PAB, and Mint Lego sets to acquire the parts you use or a combination of these? What have you found to be the most economical and or convenient way to purchase Lego pieces.
  8. I'd buy a second if I was able to get it at a 20-30% discount.
  9. The third shield is presummed to be on the other side of the jousting fence (the main picture shows the Lion shield). I think it shows up in some of the other pictures. So the Black Knight, the stands, and one of the fence in the middle.
  10. I think the set looks great. I almost wish they had used the original black falcon logo as it looks like it has been "updated" but still a fantastic set.

  13. The only problem with the depth is that it makes it harder to access the interior. So yes, either buy more or don't plan on playing with it to much. I think it is a great castle though because it is easy to expand.
  14. It is a fun looking set. @The Cobra actually mentioned it in the LEGO Princesses (Link) discussion. From what I was able to find out from Mariann Asanuma's blog (blog link) they can be purchased at Legoland stores.
  15. I think the only reason TLG would discontinue Kingdoms in 2012 was if they had acquired a license that they hadn't planned on when they started Kingdoms. For the amount of new pieces in the Kingdom sets, it seems like they were making an investment in a theme that would be around for longer than just a year or two. I predict we will have some kind of summer release in 2012, either LOTR or a continuation of Kingdom sets. As a few people have mentioned, the lack of Kingdom sets in the per-liminary leaks doesn't mean there won't be any next year. I would wait until the New York Toy Fair before losing hope that more sets will be coming.
  16. I think I posted my experience elsewhere as well. In a similar transaction, I ordered a Grand Carousel from Ebay at about 30% below retail with free shipping and it ended up being paid for from a stolen credit card. My address was listed on the Lego invoice which showed the Full Lego Retail Price along with the shipping price that had been paid. I didn't think too much of it until I ordered a UCS Millenium Falcon a few weeks later when it went on sale and that order was cancelled. I went through a process of sending my paypal receipt to Lego as well as a link to the auction before they would allow sets to be shipped to my address again from S@H. The seller did only have 15-20 feedback, so your seller might be legitimate since they a better history.
  17. While I think everyone would welcome LOTR Lego sets, there hasn't been an official or unofficial announcement made by TLG and the comment from TT about a potential video game isn't a source since they just agreed that it would be possible to make a LOTR Lego game. Cwetqo has chosen not to reveal his source, either to protect them or because he has none. Anyone reading this thread should be able to see that there is very little authenticated information about this potential theme. If they are making the sets, I wouldn't be surprised if they did a May or late summer release so they can generate interest in the movie. They could make a ring on a 1x1 tile similar to Jack's compass, but yes it would be quite large for a ring. I guess it could be hiding in "its" pocket?
  18. I think Pirates 4 actually did very well. It is number 8th on the most revenue grossing film worldwide. (I'm sure higher ticket prices help) http://www.filmsite.org/boxoffice.html It sounds like Pirates 5 would be in production if Depp was ready. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/pirates-5-script-delivered-disney-185357 I agree that we may not see more POTC sets anytime soon since it was a movie tie-in, but in my opinion the POTC have sold well. (at least better than other Disney franchise sets (Prince of Persia, Toy Story, Cars 2) Queen Anne's Revenge was one the top sellers list for a while on Lego.com
  19. I am sure there will be a set or two on the ground when I get home since I have some displayed on a shelf that isn't very stable. Edit: Only had a prison tower fall over.
  20. It looks like the description for series 5 is not consistent between the Lego products and S@H page. http://minifigures.lego.com/en-us/Bios/Default.aspx vs. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Minifigures-Series-5-8805 I think it would be cool to see a Flamenco Dancer, not sure about a Jungle Boy. I guess we should be seeing some official pictures in the near future.
  21. I must comment that I was very impressed with all the detail. I thought at first it was a model boat with the sails and rigging. Keep up the good work!
  22. I think the Yellow building looks very authentic. Love the caixa de correios. (mailbox) I forgot to mention that I also like the tiles on the white house as I remember seeing a lot of houses with beautiful tiles that added a lot of character to the building.
  23. Great looking bridge and town. The XL pet shop looks great, or it is a LEGO shop next to a PET shop?
  24. Looks like a great town. I love the Flintston's car that you have in the traffic. Great use of power functions with the construction site.
  25. With the price point TLG was working with on the Black Pearl, I think they did an above average job on the set. I collected all the Pirates II sets except Brickbeards Bounty because I wasn't particularly fond of the design of the ship. Comparing the two, the Black Pearl comes with more pieces and sails. I am also more excited about the detailed figures in the set than the Pirates II figures. I agree that the cabin is too low, but it should be an easy modification. In fact, I am glad that it is $100 because I will likely purchase 2 in a TRU BOGO sale and use them both to create a more detailed version. It will likely cost me around $160 and if I sell off the extra figures on Ebay, my cost will be reduced a bit more. I'll end up with much more than I would have if TLG had just designed a $150 Black Pearl and I will also have the opportunity to improve on LTG's design. Being that QAR's is a fantastic ship out of the box, I don't feel the need to purchase another, so I'll end up with two great ships which costs about the same,(although the Black Pearl will require some work on my part to get the lower price).
