Search for the Desert Temple
LegoDad42 replied to TooMuchCaffeine's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Love it! Why didn't you just design PQ for Lego. Bi-plane is great and love the temple. Wish they used a design like yours of the temple for set Golden Staff Guardians. Brilliant work as usual. A fan... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
LegoDad42 replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Pics look great!...random thoughts....Now that I see that there are boxing gloves...I'm hoping LEGO makes baseball mitts for the Baseball Player minifig. I wonder if the Gangster's case opens. Wish Sherlock Holmes had a jacket and pipe accessory to go along with the magnifying glass. Is the Dwarf's shield a new print? Gladiator, Godzilla Suit Guy are my favs. And the Midget Clown w/pie is fun too! The Graduation fig. would be fun to give to as presents to matriculating members of our society. -
That's a great deal. Roughly 3.50gpd is about $5.75 dollars U.S. Here we get 3 build a figs for $9.99 dollars.

Great store and the largest Pick A Brick Wall from any Lego store I'm told. Check out this link to some pics I took last year to get ya' all pumped.... LEGO Rockefeller Center Fun Pics!

For children they have to do an entire Marvel Comic line up. Not only would the characters and vehicles, scenes, etc. have kids goin' nuts, but long time Marvel 'zombies' couldn't resist picking up iconic scenes. Who wouldn't love to have the Fantastic Four figs with a Baxter Building...or a huge Galactus brick built fig. to battle. The X-Men figs alone would sell like hot cakes.

Adventurer's Quest: Camel Caravan
LegoDad42 replied to Tervlon's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Way to go Tervlon! Way to get on Eurobricks frontpage. You know my thoughts from Flickr on your Caravan...keepin' the Adventurers spirit alive!!! One thing I forgot to ask over there was...any hints as to the next part of this adventure? -
This 'Universe Mode' ship looks great! Love the proportions on it...as well as the design, just excellent. What did it end up costing once ordered?

Great lookin' vignette. Just the right size and nice details on the walls. Fun stuff...

Target is known to not check on return items thoroughly...like tape and such missing or opened. They take back just about everything. So you have many a folk who swipe out the mini-figs and reseal and return the box no questions asked. I bought an Agents set about a year or more ago and the box looked perfect. The tape perfect...all bags looked sealed but of course the minifigs missing. It could've been a mistake but man, whomever resealed it did a pro job on it. But like others have said....Lego is great at getting you missing parts. Another Target near miss....I picked up the Galactic Enforcer on sale off the shelf...beautiful box...looked great...but my son saw the tape a little loose....sure enough, all the good figs and the statue fig was gone. Went back to the shelf and found a real beat up box Galactic Enforcer, ask a worker there if I can open it to see if anything was missing like the other box, he was cool let me open it and ALL the stuff was there and looking great (except for the box). So be vigilent with Target and go online to complain to their customer service so they know about returns and stuff missing with Lego products.

Like many have said..it really doesn't matter. There isn't any toy company-name-gestapo so if you want to say Legos or Lego or Lego bricks...have no fear... It's actually silly for a company to tell you(hard working people who spend their own money on this product) how to 'properly' say or spell their company name. Will they ban you from typing or saying it improperly?...silly, silly Lego... As long as others know what you mean, that's all that matters. I wonder if Hasbro insist that we call all their toys a 'HASBRO'...hmmmm....;)

Love the volcano and lava flow! Those poor, poor islanders. Hopefully they'll relocate to another islander WITHOUT an angry volcano god...

I remember somewhat a hierarchy of nerdom. Least nerdy at the top...like Sci-Fi book readers on top, comic book/art collectors, Star Wars Fans, Star Trek fans, etc, etc...and people into the degenerate furry's scraping the bottom of the nerd tower. Not sure where to put Lego but I've heard Beckham and Brad Pitt have built some Lego, so go figure.

Tremendous review! Thank you. I've been on the fence with this kit but seeing your review really changed my mind. I'm gonna' pick this up. Not crazy about the boat but the aircraft models are interesting and fun. Glad to see they're mini-fig scale.

Usually, the new items are already in the LEGO Store and just waiting till the first of the month to put on the shelves or they might have put some out already. Call your local shop. Looks like some of the NinjaGO sets are already at Target stores in the US and in shops in the UK and Ireland according to BrickSet. On the LEGO Store calendar, looks like they marked January 6th for the Collectable MiniFigs, but usually they'll put 'em out right at the beginning of the month.

Santa' was more than generous to our little family. We got the big enchillada...Death Star 10188 (nicely discounted mind you). Also Pharoah's Quest Fly Mummy Attack (nice set, small plane but the deep red color looks great for it)and the Battlepack. Finished off some missing figs from Series I and II so we have complete sets now and got some wonderful accessories from BrickArms and BrickForge and 3 customs from EclipseGraphX. All in all a great LEGO day.

Review: 2257 Spinjitzu Starter Set
LegoDad42 replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for a thorough review. Definitely helping me decide on this set. My kid has been askin' about this and I'm diggin' the new Ninja figs and love the armor on the skeleton but man that price. Ouchy. I think even the single fig. set is roughly $9.99. I'm guessing they're upping the price for the cards and solid one piece spinner, but still. If somehow LEGO did a ripcord-like thing that they do for Beyblade, then I can see kids wanting this alot, but I'm worried this might sit on the shelf due to price and no mechanism for the spinners. When they do the 'Spinjitzu' training at the LEGO store, I can see how my kid and others like it. I'm skeptical on it. Might only be good for the figs. EDIT....with all that said above, I do like the illustrations on the card. Very cool and love the characters. -
Things that changed Lego forever
LegoDad42 replied to David Thomsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think we'll see in the near future from LEGO are bricks with electronic chips that will have a wide range of possibilities when each one is snapped to one another. Music, sound f/x...even bricks with small screens to show animated images and when building, can form a larger digital image. I'd say to start, bricks the size of Duplo's and standard 2 x 4's. -
New Lego Store opening in Cardiff, UK!
LegoDad42 replied to jm28cardiff's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Any pics from the store and the exclusives they gave out? -
Target in Elmhurst, Queens NY is a big offender on LEGO markups (even some popular Transformer sets too). They had the Hogswart Castle at $159.99. Outrageous! And just about every LEGO set (especially Star Wars) was about 15% higher. And this is with a LEGO store just, literally, 3 blocks away selling the same items at retail. I'd say, just like others, to the original poster, you gotta' shop around man. eBay, even LEGO shop dot com could've gotten you the Hogswart Castle at retail. I usually shop at the LEGO store but have gotten tremendous deals on eBay. EDIT...to be fair, my local Target used to be right on retail prices and even a couple bucks lower the past 7 years I've shopped there but this past year to 2, on anything popular (even Beyblades), they're above retail 'cause they know parents will spring for the hard to get, hot item. I think it's dispicable but like another poster said, higher rents in certain areas (NYC area in general) can justify the retailer going above. I for one, just won't pay above retail. I just shop around and be patient.

LEGO reigns supreme! Is there a link to the whole list of 100 Greatest Toys? I wonder if Axis and Allies made the list. Loved that game with my older brother when I was a kid. Also wondered where Star Wars action figures ranked. As much as I love LEGO, when I was a kid a good rubber Spaulding handball was probably the greatest toy for us kids. From stoopball to punchball to stickball and everything in between. Wonder if it made the list.

What's the best Minifigure ever made?
LegoDad42 replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me it will always be Indiana Jones. The hat, whip and overall look was spot on by the LEGO designers on that one while keeping within their system perfectly. And the chrome Vader is a beautiful figure with that 'chrome-like' finish has a wonderful shine and the lightsaber reflects a nice red to one side of his face. Great display figure. -
Do you think that they'll possibly start it up again in 2012 with rumors of another Indy movie? I'm with you on a 30th anniversary set...the train (w/ALL the cars) would be spectacular. With this you'd get Young/boy scout Indy and Fedora (w/his bumbling cohorts). But that Grail Temple (w/facade ala' Petra) and all it's traps is wonderful to do too. Love to have that Grail Knight minifig. Ah...one can hope and dream they'll keep LEGO Indy alive. I sure hope with a new movie they'll continue.

I entered (or I should say my son) the Win Your Wish List contest last month in the US. Deadline was Dec. 10th and I heard they'd announce the winners (I believe one per store?) Dec. 20th via email (?). Most notable we put on the list was UCS Imperial Shuttle, HP Castle, Imperial Flagship,etc...crossin' fingers and toes to see if we win. Doubt it of course but worth a shot.

Nicely designed castle. Love the outer wall details and the way you worked in 'crosses' on the outside, second level facade...plus the photography is excellent! Shows off your model very well.
