Thank goodness! I thought I'd lost the feather when I was cleaning the QAR and almost had a heart attack when I saw the prices on Bricklink. And that was five years ago! (I eventually found it, but always good to have another option.)

It's not too often these days that a LEGO pirate commercial resurfaces that I haven't seen, but while I was trying to find more information on the French Kellogg's promotion seen in this commercial on the French National Audiovisual Institute website, I found this commercial for a different promotion instead. Looks to be from 1992/1993. It's interesting to see a live action LEGO pirate and knight! Anyone from France remember seeing these back in the day?

[OFFICIAL] BrickLink Designer Program Series 8 - Finalists Announced

Looks like we'll be getting Imperial Guard and Armada flags with this one, a good addition since the privateer ship didn't have any Armada flags. Nice to see the faction return after...geez, 30 years! -
[OFFICIAL] Creator 31387 Iconic Pirate Ship – Releases 1 June, 2026

I think we have a winner here! The main model of the original is better--significantly better as a base on which better ships can be built. But the alt models here are killer (particularly the two little boats, perfect for filling out a harbor scene), and it looks like they used the smaller size of the main ship to fill the deck out a little more, which I like. The octopus is a *huge* improvement over the derpy shark. (Don't get me wrong, I love the derpy shark, but the octopus I could see fitting right in with the other sea life.) And is this the first time since Barracuda Bay that we have *four* new pirate designs in one set? Amazing! And a new captain's hat to boot! I'm definitely going to want to pick up three or four of these over the lifetime of the set. -
I saw this video earlier--what a wonderful exploration of the topic! Welcome to the forum, can't wait to see the next episode.

Blocks Magazine just posted a short video discussing the early development of the LEGO Pirate theme. All of this information was already covered in the Secret Life of LEGO Bricks book (this video is from the author of that book), but if you haven't read the book it's worth a watch!

LEGO advertisement - launch of the Pirates theme in NL

Great finds! Thank you for looking for the these. -
I really liked the last Creator Pirate ship; I'm very curious to see what this new one will be like. Between the two BDP sets (so far) this year and this ship, I'm feeling pretty good about this year as a Pirate fan. (My wallet wants to make me walk the plank though.)

I'm liking this set more and more every time I see it--they did a really nice job with the minifigures considering the limitations. And the multiple flags (especially the historically inspired Jolly Roger design) are an excellent touch. It's expensive, but hopefully this will be a good option for folks who are in the market for an Imperial ship and missed out on the Imperial Flagship back in the day.

Maybe for the Coconut Cape set? EDIT: I see the GWP car for the Modular set has the purple tricorn from the Spiderman set too--nice!

Nice! I hadn't seen that one yet!

I love the new hat colors and designs! I wonder if they'll offer the unprinted red and blue bicorns on PAB...

Sad, there were some good Pirate designs this round. But there are still two Pirate BDP sets in the pipeline, so there's still that to look forward to. They did state that final designs and pricing for Series 7 will be revealed on January 5th; looking forward to seeing what the final price is on the Fortuna so my wallet can brace for impact, lol.
