Hips: Your Opinions Appreciated

Well, if by "ideal" you mean Barbie's impossible proportions of a bee that every society girly girl wants to achieve by plastic surgery/everlasting diet/not eating at all/complete despair, then A is the way to go But B definitely looks better and far more natural. -
I watched Transformers, mately. I didn't care much about the robots parts , but boy! do I love that Sam Witwicky character! I think I'm officially a fan... I finally found my role model

A few months ago I would have selected all of the options, but I finally got around to put some order in my collection, so it isn't a big mess anymore. As for what I consider in the other category, is that I try to use my Lego for other things than initially intended. Like I used to play Unreal Tournament with a custom character in Lego minifig form (and I'm creating a new one for the UT III though it's currently put on hold, as I haven't got much time, lately) or help my sister do her engineering project by building some generic prosthetics (she's in biomedical engineering) to illustrate where the axis are and such... and of course I play and MOC with them... I find it really hard when I see two displayed starfighters not to pick them up and swoosh them in a nice dogfight all over the room (home made special sound effects all included )

Aw, all those make me wish they'd continue the mini line. They were great, I love them all (ok, maybe no the AT AT) and they weren't glued... As for the keychains, only the Landspeeder has some appeal to me.... the slave 1 feels a bit cramped, with its stabiliser fins (or whatever they are) so close to the body... And by the look of it, they can't turn...

The original Fiat 500  That car has really got character. though the original Mini cooper is a close second, for the same reason.

Custom Halter Tops: A Study in Cleavage

I don't know about you but that one is screaming Lara Croft to me Very well done... -
loool, look at us, philosophising over what is and isn't a minifig... It's like wondering what is and isn't alive but on a minifig scale My definition of a minifig would be anything representing a minimally sentient being and not overtly complicated in build (that is, a head, a one-piece body, two arms and legs as needed but not much more). So I don't count most of the big brick-built droids (spider droids, vulture and hailfire) but I do all the little ones (pit droid and little EF mechs) and, of course, the HP Troll and new giant trolls... And those creatures from the Orient Expedition, too. Another thing is about the animals : do they count as minifigs? In my mind, I'd say they're in a subcategorie of minifigs, but there are now quite a few animals that are mostly brick-built, so it's getting rather fuzzy... though, then my definition could help make the line, with that "not overtly complicated build" part... which would exclude all the aquaa raiders creatures but not the dewback... But then, what about the viking dragons? Vertigo Head Spinner ON

I think meant the vehicles that have already been released twice, not necessarily in a redesigned form. And the TIE X-1 in the 10131 TIE Collection is not the same as the original one with the Y-Wing (though I may be wrong, as I don't own the set; but I remember seeing in the instruction that the cockpit window opens in the same manner as the next generation of TIEs instead of only being an openable rooftop).

nice reveiw, thanks. I always hesitated to get it, and usually, it's the look of that mask piece that dissuaded me. I never realized it was actually a normal cockpit (but in trans red ) covered by another piece... Now I'll really regret not having bought it, since I can't find it anymore... Jellyfish ON

Finally got my hands on Karzahni I've been waiting for quite a while to get it. Really nice build. Not as good as Maxilos, but still thouroughly enjoyable. I also managed to get a mace windu head (since I only have that lame LUL version of the fig) and a dementor to finish my try on a custom Ultimate Green Goblin (I needed its sand purple hood... Actually, I can't quite make out what color it is, in fact...).

Well, most of the rubrics have the mistake in their name (eg : "Les Legos City", "Les Legos Star Wars", "Legos Castles/Pirates", etc...)
-
Well, if I may, I think I've read somwhere that Lego doesn't take a "S" in plural form... cf Greg's comic page 29

Yaay, that's a fantastic Sci-Fi serie. One of the best I've ever seen, right on par with Farscape and Firefly! I love the way they wrote the cylon, building more and more like us earth human than those i the serie, which makes it hard to see where they're going with it... My guess, the people on earth are the children of the Cylon, which would end it in a straight symmetry of the beginning... And the dogfights are always a treat to watch.

I second that. That was the first thing I thought when I saw it : the details are fantasticly done but there's too much of it... Did you have references for the dress design? it reminds me of Zelda's in her more recent incarnation but in a simplified version. Anyway, great work. Oh and I'm all for a cleavage too HOT ELF ON!

Real nice. You really did capture the scene. And the alchemist is well thought of. One thing, though : Maybe you should remove vidocq's legs in the shaft to make it look like it goes deeper than it actually is. And make it feel more like he's really dangling from the edge... Although it might need a way to hide the fact that he lacks legs... Great MOC nonetheless.

Well, I voted for third option. I mean, I only fell into Bionice with the Inika line up and only for the Titan-Warrior sets because of the much more intricate build they've got (I still find Maxilos to be a fantastic piece of work). But I haven't got a clue as to what the story is supposed to be about nor do I care. I only enjoy the interesting models for how they're built. And this year is much the same, really : I kinda like Icarax and Takutanva (I think that's his name) but that's pretty much it...
-
Same here... I guess they didn't put the armour in to have one more appeal in the bigger sett that contains it... Oh well, at lieast we get a rat... I haven't got one, yet...

Well, considering they're in the exact same position than when he's on the base plate, I'd say it's only Photoshop working it's magic for the benefit of the box art. Same way they didn't show the stand of the UCS ISD on the box either... Actually, I'm quite disappointed by that box art : it looks like the integration of the model with the background has been done in five minutes top. No thought seems to have been put in making the pic. The model takes way too much space so the pic gives me a bit of a claustrophobic feeling and the feet and hands are too close to the sides of the frame. there's no composition to it whatsoever... I hope it's only preliminary but somehow I doubt it... But then again, I don't buy my LEGO to admire the boxart, since those go straight to the big pile with the others and I only look at them with an annoyed eye for the space they take in my room And I really like that model.

Wow, you really got a knack for building highly designed furniture... I'm always impressed by those. Great job!

Do the Indy figures (and characters) forget their names a lot?
yellost replied to Athos's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, I'd say it makes it even worse for the movie... It's like they take its target audience for some dumb lot who can't remember who's who in a movie whaile watching it *hmpf_bad* ... I hope it gets some sort of justification in it... Wait and see, I guess... -
Wow, it looks fantastic! *wub* *wub* I'm definitely getting that one. I was afraid it was going to be another technic robot thingy like what they did for Vader, Jango and a few other which I thought looked lame at best but this is really good *y* . I just went through the instructions and found some really great details, like the little heart piece done with a brown cawl and such. The only thing that might need a little modding are the arms, though. I just love when this happens, I come here and nothing new has come out, so I do my little round of the forum and then 5 minutes later, I come back and Wham! big and fantastic news hit you right in the face! Don't you love it? I sure do, oh yes! X-D Thanks a lot, Whung and Aayla And look, the stand can revolve! power function ON!

Damn... Who do you put that bloody pin in the right place??? I ended up with two different ones at complete opposite ends of the map... and they don't appear on the list next to the map... I must be terrible at this thing.... anyway, the correct one is the Brussels, Belgium one...
-
It's got an award? wow... I didn't know that... what kind?
-
Wow! I was going to post this, thinking it a bit steep for one single minifig but next to that one, I don't quite dare... :-|
