Well, there's the whole point of the problem, really : they can't go on forever, since it's only a 3 year time period... and if we consider everything that's happened in there so far, it looks like everyone is everywhere at the same time... it doesn't really make sense anymore... Which is a problem they don't quite encounter when telling stories after 6, since they don't have to go to events that have already been established and most importantly they aren't limited in the time what they want to tell can happen (although with the Legacy serie, now they might... But they still have quite a gap in which to maneuver) And saying it like that is definitely the best way to have people NOT shut up. Rudenes not withstanding, your opinion is no better since there is no being right or wrong, here. Things just are and you either chose to go with the flow or start wondering and questioning. And I can tell you, fun can be had both ways.

That was a neat little set indeed. Funny though, in all those years I've had it, I never actually thought of putting the talkie walkie in the middle box mmh, the unexpected things we can learn in unexpected places...

The old version was definitely better in term of technique. In the new one, the animation is all jerky and hacked and they can't even walk on a flat surface without looking like they're floating (though they did improve a little in the end...) whereas in the cartoon, the animation just flows from one scene to another in a fantasticly smooth way. But they did have a better opportunity to concentrate on the animation. As for the art style, the cartoon went in a really original way (but who could expect anything else from Tartakovsky's team) with really cartoonish design on lush painted backgrounds (which I find fantastic but I can understand people not liking) while in the new one, they try to reuse what they did in 2D and put it in 3D. And most of the time it looks more like painted action figures (which the jerky animation doesn't help at all, unfortunately) in some wierd environments that don't quite know if they want to be realisitc or not. And even though the episodes are far shorter, the characters are much more fleshed out in the cartoon than in the new serie. In the new one, only Ahsoka seems to have a real personality (which has me stuck, because it's about the only one I like in the new serie but she's also the one I have the hardest accepting; I'm still not liking the idea of Anakin having a padawan, but then again, that's just me...) Storywise, however, I'd say the better Clone Wars run was in the comics. Because there, they really had time to go deep into the story and the characters and their internal conflicts. Be it Ventress' (Obsession) or Anakin's (Last stand of Jabiim. It's still one of the best chapters I've read in the Star Wars EU. You can really feel for him and go with him in his slow slip to the Dark Side). Even Oby Wan has one (and of course, Quinlan Vos, but that character is really specific to the comics) But apart from that, by the way it's going, I'm starting to just completely dislike the whole Clone Wars Era. There is just too much material for the same very short time period so everything impedes on everything else and nothing makes sense anymore. And yes, you can ruin your own film... George Lucas quite proved it. But he didn't need the new serie to do it, just Episode III.

How did you like the Clone Wars TV series?
yellost replied to kill will's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well, it was nice seeing Aurra Sing, although she was a bit useless in this episode... But I don't know what to think of that Cad Bane... its character seems interesting but all about him feels like a rip off of the Stranger in the Oddworld game. Its general appearance (granted, the hat plays a lot), the way he moves, the way he talks... I know Star Wars has always drawn a lot of influence from everywhere but here, it felt a bit too much... Though I can't help but wonder how its minifig would turn out if they ever make one (but since it looks like he's going to be a major character it's rather likely). -
Right now, I sooo regret not getting the UCS General Grievous at half price... Damn, I even should have gotten more than one, considering how much they fetch now they're discontinued... Apart from that, there's also the UCS Millenium Falcon, but that's more a question of lack of money, unfortunately...

Hasn't there been a topic like this before? I was on FBTB Then I looked for a european forum and started lurking here a lot. Then there was that fantastic Ice Cube Tray topic which deciced me to register and enjoy the fun Or something like this anyway...

Well, I did have a try at making a fig of the master of them all here But I'm curious to see what the others would look like. I did a Death fig once (along with Binky), but I thought it lacked a certain cartoon feel to it, so I wouldn't say it really fits in the discworld.

I love that rocking chair... well, here's my try, then... I call it Civilisation's Fall -
I'll go for motorcycle chase without hesitation. with the german torso you can build a MGS3 Snake fig and by mixing the two Jones you can get your very own and special Terry Pratchett fig And the side-car is a really nice build, too.

Indeed, it is the best Sci Fi show i've seen, right on top along with Farscape. But right now, my favourite season is the second one, because it keeps a good pace for the whole season and has a story arc that ties its episode much tighter than in season 1. Whereas while season 3 has indeed the best two parters of the serie, I find its second half to drag on a bit too much... Can't wait to see how it'll end.

Thanks a lot. Had one of the best nights in quite a while.

Mmmmh, from your statement, I'd say you've never played a Metal Gear Solid game... Although I have to admit it's as much a movie as a game, considering all the cutscenes in it... But then again, it does go with what you're saying, since the story is developed in the cinematics and not in the actual gameplay phases, so... I suppose it would depend on which original material the adaptation is based on. which would make it a bit useles : on one hand, if it's from a game all about gameplay and not story, the serie would be pretty boring or completely different and denaturing whereas on the other, it would just retell the story of the original game and render it slightly boring for those who have played the game (but it could be pretty good for everyone else...)

well, I'm 25 and I discovered Star Wars when Episode 1 came out. And still, I find the OT much better than the PT. they were more consistent and about characters whereas the new ones (and now CW) just focus on feeding your eyes with incredible action scenes after incredible action senes and they completely forget about having a cohesive background to base them on... And the more I see CW the more I feel sad about that...(although the last 2 episodes were finally going back the right way. I hope it'll continue like that) But then again, I've always been a weird one At least, That'll make my wallet happy, because now I'll only getthe sets that look good and not care about what it's supposed to be. (except for the OT sets that keep being fantastic looking... ) I like it, because that was the state of mind I was in before they started making star wars sets. But because of the price of the licence, I had to stop getting other themes. Now I might just start again. Especially considering that the designers are going through the roof with the city sets lately. And I can't wait to see more news from the Space Police. Anyway, I have to say that the new separatist shuttle do look interesting. I like what I'm seeing so far. The Y-wing, I'm not so sure. I'll reserve judgement untill I see better pics. Although there seems to be some nice greeble on it. The OT sets are fantastic. That new AT ST is just and finally we have a Taun Taun. And for a very nice price (though it seems rather low to me, considering how high they're getting lately... But I'll keep my fingers crossed)

I don't know why but in that second picture, he makes me think of Doctor Who... Nicely done. Although the younger version is the better of the two. And Terry Pretchett is still the better writer

A little homage to one of the best writer there is
yellost replied to yellost's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
glad we at least agree on what a good writer is, if not on the who but to my shame, I don't think I've ever seen a picture of Douglas Adams... hmmm, needs mulling over... -
I may be wrong, since I don't own the set but from what I've seen of the pics on S@H but I think there are two different version of Darth Maul. They did a new print for the head for the one in the new version of the Sith Infiltrator (7663), much more synthesized than the previous one.

Which figs do you need for the gungan sub? I have them, so if you want I can do it. Although I'm not home at the moment, so it wouldn't be untill next week. But apart from the hooded obi wan, I think they're the same as in every other epI set, really... unless you want the manta ray, seashell and starfish as well

Mine was 6061. My paretns gave it to me for christmas when I was 5. But it was a second hand set without the instruction and box (but it was already built). I only found out recently which set it was. Unfortunately, I've lost most of the figs and accessories and a few pieces... Now I'm trying to find it again on eBay or something, but boy, it goes for quite a steep price nowadays...

I finally got my hands on a few indiana jones set and I just couldn't help see the resemblance. It really is striking. I can't wait to get the shanghai chase set for that black fedora. Then it will be just perfect. So here it is, Terry Pratchett himself LEGOised accurate down to the leather jacket and the darker shade of gray in the moustache. He's even got the round glasses... Now we just have to wait for a Discworld theme (I hope I put it in the right forum, but I never quite know where that kind of topic is suposed to go...)

Funny how the more I see it, the more it makes me think of Judge Dredd. Especially the logo. But I'm loving what we're seeing so far, it is a rather unexpeted direction they're taking if the entire line is based on space cars pursuits...

Neat idea indeed, especially if you include all the data suggested above. Somehow it reminds me of this picture I found on BS a while ago. I guess it isn't up to date but still... And I know there isn't As Commander 501 said, the other one is the one with Obi Wan's head, but TLC did state that it was a mistake from their sorting machine... Does it mean you're going to include all of those as well (like the snow trooper with the clone trooper torso from 4501)? I'd say it'd make it a bit of a huge task... EDIT : I just found this one, too. But the pic is huge, so I'll just give the link http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3173207

Is there a link with Miyazaki's film? I didn't know it was based on a book...
