They shall lose the license soon, and they were doing such a poor job with that license that I wouldn't be shocked if TLG gets it once it expires. And yeah, Disney.
-
They are never going to make a military theme, and I say good riddance, I think that idea is way too bland and overrated. I'd rather have TLG spend time on themes that are more interesting and yet include weapons and that sort of things.

A disturbing trend has developed in my White Cheese Slopes..
vexorian replied to kyphur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I experienced the exact same thing with my only white cheese slopes. All of them come from a Creator Mini-robots set. -
There seems to be a variance in quality. For example, with CM figs, it seems that most are 'all right but not TLG quality' while there is always a chance one of them will be a little wrong. I don't really care if something is made in China, Yugoslavia or Antarctica. There still needs to be the sort of great QA that we are used to. Specially because the current and new prices don't reflect the reduction in quality assurance costs. -- Recent example, I bought a mini trains Creator set the other day and one of the 2x4 white plates had almost invisible logos in its studs and the white was of a more glossy kind, it basically looked like a clone brick. Oddly, the other two ones were fine. I also bought an Atlantis shark, and the big black wing-like piece and also the shark's head had some white stain thing, or was it bended? I have no idea, the thing is that they have something that looks lighter than the black it is supposed to be, the thing is that I bought the shark to have those precise pieces in "shiny new" quality whereas I got something closer to the quality I already got in "used" quality. This is probably an issue of 'safety' for children. They have been using softer plastic on things that children may use to hit others.

Why not? It worked just fine for Transformers.

That's called pandering to AFOLs in a way that does not involve any economical risk.

I find it paradoxical when people claim at the same time that they liked classic space but they don't like the color scheme in the human vehicles in this theme, considering that they have almost the same color scheme...

Time zones.

The plane is a great piece pack to accompany a minifig. But I have to say: More sets that don't exist outside the US: Sarcastic yay!

huh, pretty sure Hello Kitty was an oxford theme, not megabloks.

I'd like anything sci-fi-ish, like starwars maybe. I intend to burn some LEGO bricks for fun and a bunch of free ones would be nice to burn. Make sure to send them ASAP before April 1st...

D2C Contest: 10234 Ignacia Village

Thanks , it works now. These buildings look very well. The level of detail is what you would expect from a TLG set and they are also accurate to the oriental building style. -
Let us make this an exo force farewell thread. Favorite human set Yeah, the aero booster is rather cool, but I don't own it, I made the mistake of giving it to my brother in his birthday instead of buying it for me. So I will vote for the sky guardian. It has such cool vibes, even though I had to mod the bionicle launcher out and replace with some stuff. Favorite robot set I really wish I had the Bridge walker, it looks very cool. But if I have to include only sets I own, I'll have to go with the Dark Panther, it was really the one robot set that I really liked without mods. On second place, the Claw Crusher, I had to mod it a little but the result is very nice. The striking venom is huge but it kinda needs you to have plenty of sets to look good on display, else it is a skeleton thing. I mean, it is awesome and I love it, but I see it more as a cherry to put on top of your robots collection than as a set. MoCs I was hoping we could have a good exo-force MoC index, it is very hard to find good ones through google and sites search, at least for me. I have exactly one exo-force MoC that is basically a remade of the Shadow Crawler, but I don't have pictures yet.

I can't see any of the pics. , I get this: -
Yeah, outside of CGI realm knex bricks don't have a great quality. It is so sad LEGO didn't get this license but despite of the figs that look more like Mario Kart statues than minifigs. The kart designs are underwhelming. LEGO invented the LEGO system, interlocking bricks, sloped elements, wheels, minifigs and all those things. The original interlocking brick had just that and the interlocking was not optimal, besides that TLG didn't outright clone it, they paid for the original patents. This is something that clone brands did not do. Capitalism seems to be failing us as clone brands focus so much on low raw prices but the quality/price quotient is much worse in most of them than in TLG.

Is this the same set as OxFord's ? I remember that I heard about a deal between Cobi and OxFord so that Cobi can release OxFord's designs in Europe. It looks great. But the pale colored minifigs are a turn down. Regarding the review, I think the pictures are too small. But otherwise it is detailed.

Megabloks is Canadian, its best market is the US in there, they were able to appeal a lot of parents because their real megabloks are much larger than Duplo and thus actually better for toddlers, this created some trust on the brand which is passed once the kids want smaller blocks. In Europe, and specially Poland it is harder for them because LEGO and Cobi have more of a following. They are also unseen of around here. Bootleg brands dominate this sector and the only serious brand that is recognizable (even more than LEGO between adults) is Rasti. Which is sad because I would have probably actually bought some of MB's HALO sets if I were able to find them.

Are modulex compatible with nanobloks?
-
Good riddance. Nah. I love Exo-Force, but I just wish that they decided to do it post-Hero Factory, imagine a Hero-Factory/System hybrid rather than a Bionicle/System hybrid... That would be amazing. But I think that some spiritual successor to Exo-Force is bound to happen. If it happens, please use helmets and faces compatible with other minifigs.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion

Sherlock and the gangster look much better now. Still think Sherlock needs a coat though. -
Many of the Pharaoh's quest printed elements this year are very specific to that theme. I think that removing print is easier than applying stickers. If a print/sticker is too specific then maybe it shouldn't have been added in the first place.

With this close of a look to 3.0 I think I will skip 2.0 because the 3.0 ones look more polished and use the same build system. The helmets are better being more bionicle like. I think that with the 2.0 helmets it was a good idea to have built ones, but the execution was not great because all helmets looked the same to me. In 3.0 that's not a problem anymore. It also seems the pieces used for the fingers and claws are going to be useful for system stuff. Those printed armor parts are going to be an annoyance if you want to use the parts for mocing. Instead of getting four black armor pieces with Stringer, you'll only get three.
-
This year we have had a good share of printed elements. I am keeping my hopes that when the sets are released they are printed and it turns out the stickers were because of preliminarily.
