  1. Farewell (it is true and we are pretty sure by now) Alien Conquest , dubbed the reason I now hate LEGO star wars and licensed sets in general. At least the other day I was lucky to find an AC Alien hanging out in the resale fair around here. I guess some returned set from the US ended up around here and I could only find the single Alien and missed the rest of the set.
  2. Well, my money is on LEGO being the ones that did the market research. AFOLs can just get the PQ sets bike and be happy. But my experience both as having seen kids behave and memories of being a kid. Is that the first thought a kid has when looking at Cap's bike in the set is "OMG a large armored motorcycle so cool". And not "I wonder why Cap is not riding the same motorcycle as in the movie!?"
  3. Kids would prefer the other one though.
  4. I guess Mark Hamil started doing animated villains, because he was typecast as Luke Skywalker.
  5. It would make no sense to use so many prints on places that didn't need them yet leave Stormer's details with stickers. We got prints on torsos that make the pieces useless for MoCs yet we are going to have Stormer's details all stickered? I am gonna bet it is a Toy fair thing. Stickers ruin the build experience and are not durable.
  6. I don't know. Even it has some issues like the skinny leg-feet connections.
  7. That's worrysome to me because 2010 imho had the worst quality in all HF. I never liked the helmet hero quality and meltdown got ruined by bad yellow plastic. So if your Furno helmet is clearly worse than the helmet that was terrible in the first place, that sort of means they are switching quality to Bionicle-mode Even if this was happening to few people. Do you remember this ever happening with HF after 2.0? I liked the standard of quality HF was having...
  8. I am going to get very mad if that doesn't get released here.
  9. I don't know, unless it is very cheap, I would pass. I don't think I ever feel like I need more of those pieces. I would have preferred three random bones in neutral (black) color :)
  10. Well, if you have plenty of damaged parts (Happens to me for being an AFOL that buys things in bulk), and have no projects in which you would need them, then it is a good thing to be able to recycle then. Not for saving money (it seriously does not), but because plastic is a terrible thing to throw. I have in the past done something similar to normal, heavily scratched bricks and donated them to charity as part of larger bulks including clones. It gives them a new life.
  11. It is a toy. It was and is developed as a toy.But the geometry was a huge concern (don't confuse toy with easy to develop). LEGO did not invent the plastic construction brick, but they did come up with (among other tweaks) the dimensions and proportions. They tried the best dimensions for children to use it to build things, stable things. LEGO bricks have very special proportions. A brick's height is equal to three times a plate's. But note how plate height is the same as the distance between two studs? Rectangles are necessary. Else why do you think actual bricks used in buildings are not square? They are not usually 1:2 either.
  12. Wow, is this the radical feminism that everyone was so opposed to in this thread?Such radicals.
  13. Ok then, update the horsey. I did not really love the old horses, but I have mixed feelings about the new one. I think more articulation was possible. Regarding the new head not having compatibility with horse gear because it is more 'dynamic', that's really not acceptable. It is fine that TLG's sell toys to kids, that does not mean kids should design them.
  14. Has anyone found a kid that is excited about the Hobbit movie? I think I have seen big foot once though. Can like the theme all right. Maybe LoTR really is your life and all, and you would prefer this to Castle. But outside of subjective opinions, this theme will either be unsuccessful or hurt Castle. Because we got antecedents and it is clear to me that SW hurt space. Space switched from a classical LEGO thing, in fact the first actual theme to a secondary bonus theme that might appear some years in merely some regions and get much less priority than SW.
  15. Need to lobby LEGO to focus on inorganic characters from now on. DC has Brainiac, which would be lovely as ultrabuild. Marvel has War Machine and Sentinels, that's good enough for me. I think Doc Ock could work, but not too much.
  16. I am drolling at Iron Man's review here: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=2949 Iron Man looks excellent. I think he is going to be the one and only licensed set I buy this year. Will probably get three and take advantage of the set being great so I could get more friction joints.
  17. The Aliens and their stuff are so hot. I might army build them. With some mods in the heads you are not very far from making a Protoss army.
  18. An ok set. But you have to admit that if the helicopter was painted yellow and the minifigs replaced with a raptor this would have been a forgettable LEGO Dino set.
  19. I would approach Thor's hammer by building it rather than making a new mold, to be honest.
  20. I have vague memories of classic helmets allowing visors though. I wonder if you can use the hockey player's helmet. It would allow visors and match in color. I am very interested in using chromed astronaut visors on marines.
  21. What I don't like about Iron Man is the skeletal wrists. I think the smaller bones would have worked there as he does not really need that much mobility in there.
  22. I think it is Mf in cursive. For Minifigure, I guess.
  23. I can't believe it but The Hulk managed to disappoint me more than before. The back finally explains the great mystory about why they chose to give him armor. Without the silver things, the completely unorganic messed up look of his back would make even less sense. Now at least we can say that it is a cyborg hulk that lost the back skin.
  24. Because they wanted to do different things as opposed as just rebrading Bionicle?
  25. It still makes me sad. It is not like the discussion about not knowing what the minifigures in series 8 are, even though the market is already saturated with 6 and waiting to get saturated with 7 was a lot more interesting...
