Very nice. The only thing I would suggest is taking away some of the red and green pieces and making the ship more Black and Blue or Grey. That is if you are looking for movie-accuracy.

Very nice. I never liked the Episode II Slave I. It fell apart way too easily and just didn't have a lot going for it. I have a feeling that in a few years if the CW is still around they are going to come out with a CW Slave I. I am kind of surprised they didn't make the new one CW-themed.

That Shuttle looks amazing. I am so glad they are finally redoing this set. This is probably one of the few OT sets that they have not redone at least once and it is great to see that they have made huge improvements with it. I can't wait to see what figures are included.

Review: 852922 Dragon Knight's Battle Pack
SWMAN replied to metalandi's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I really am disappointed with Lego's lack of quality with the quality of the figures in these Battlepacks. I think that the reason these are low quality is that they are just figures. Unlike the Star Wars BP's, these simply contain figures and no vehicle or other item that can qualify high-quality plastic. I noticed the same problem with the Castle Giant Chess set. Because there were so many figures they used cheap plastic to cut down on cost. Still, this is a great set if you are just interested in dioramas and displays. -
Very nice MOC. The War of 1812 is often a forgotten war, which is surprising considering it was the last time the US was invaded and the only time the White House has been directly attacked.

Very interesting approach. You don't see a lot of brick-built figures. Not sure yet if I love them, but they are definitely bold and creative.

While the new Clone Wars sets have made a lot of improvements over old Episode II and Episode III sets, this is one instance where they have dropped the ball. The colors, design and overall playability of this one are of lower standards than the previous ones. I think that with all of the improvements lego made to the Republic Gunship and the AT-TE this set should have been a lot better. Plus, Lego has done what they have always done and have included 4 main characters and two Clone Troopers. I love the fact that we finally got Bane and Secura, but did we really need two other figures we have at least 3 of? Why not instead include 2 Battle Droids. They are way under represented in sets compared to Clone Troopers, especially because they haven't gotten a Battlpack in the new line. This feels less like a true improvement and more like Lego's attempt to play on the popularity of the other Clone Wars sets.

I don't really see a problem with him posting this here. He entered it into a contest in the Pirate Forum, which means that it may not get a lot of traffic from Historical fans. He is simply trying to give everyone an opportunity to see his creations. BTW, great MOC. You really captured the battle in all its glory. I have never heard of this battle, but like almost every Civil War battle it appears that it was bloody and violent.

A few quick suggestions. First off, try changing your background and lighting for your pictures. Pick a more neutral color like white and take slightly bigger and clearer pictures. Second, try adding a little summary at the bottom, giving your grade and recommendation.

Very cool set. People complain that it is hard to make Civil War MOC's because of the lack of Confederate troops, but it is actually really easy, as you showed here. Just take a lot of cowboy hats and random torsos that look kind of western or bandit-like and you can create an army. It is a common mistake that the Confederacy all wore grey uniforms.

This brings me back to a magical time when Lego was not skimpy with their figures. What a great set with a great selection and variety of figures and weapons.

What other SW "Battle Packs" would you like to see?
SWMAN replied to BearHeart's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I feel like if Wookies make an appearance in the CW this season then there is a chance we will see a BP for them. -
Very nice, simply set. Great addition to any diorama or collection and a couple of them would work great for expanding onto the castle.

One thing I really love about these new sets is the new grey color that is used with the Dragon faction. What is nice is that it is not just their helmets that are that color, but all of their weapons as well. Lego is taking a big step in the right direction by including this amount of detail. Great set also.

LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
SWMAN replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow thanks for these pictures. What excited me so much about these Minifigure series is that they open Lego up to so many new themes and sets. If they are willing to do an ancient Roman figure who's to say they won't be doing a whole theme soon? -
I comparison to the original fighter the new one looks to be a vast improvement. This is definitely one of the best revamps of an older model Lego has done in a while.

Review (Picture and Video) 8093 Plo Koon's Starfighter
SWMAN replied to ReZourceman's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very average set. This is really just Lego's attempt to sell us another, albeit different colored, Jedi Starfighter. If I didn't already have Plo Koon is would consider this set, but it really isn't worth it otherwise. The new droid color is interesting though! -
I just received the new 2010 sets from Amazon.fr
SWMAN replied to willybob's topic in LEGO Star Wars
While it may be new, the Turbo Tank looks too much like the original to warrant buying one. Except for some cool new figures it really fails to deliver anything great. The fact that the interior is so empty is a great disappointment and detracts from the playability of the set. The only redeeming quality is the foldable walker, and even that doesn't do enough to save this boring and monotonous set. -
I can't say I am overly impressed. The shuttle has an incomplete feel to it. Still, great figures.

I gave this set an "Outstanding" simply because of the figures included. I just love the torso prints and the detail on them. I really like how the Lion Knight has a torso that looks like he has armor on so you don't need the bulky armor piece like in previous themes. While the set itself is pretty boring the figures are well worth it.

While I feel like the theme has become Cliche there isn't a whole lot you can do differently with a Castle theme. They have done the supernatural side, they have done the traditional side (multiple times), they have done the fantasy side and they have done the random side (Knight's Kingdom). I feel like as long as they change it up every one in a while and continue to add new features that the theme will remain interesting and people will buy them. The only way the theme will be revolutionized and revived again would be if Lego acquired the license to Lord of the Rings.
-
I think that this new Slave I is almost too similar to the 2006 one. Except for a different minifigure selection and color scheme they have a lot of the same features and designs. I wish that Lego had instead taken a stab at a set we haven't had redesigned in a while.

From both a special effects and a story perspective I think that they are two completely different films. Avatar has revolutionized the film industry and how computers and technology can be use. While I admit that the story for Avatar borrowed quite a bit from previous films and ideas it was still a very original story. I feel like Clash of the Titans is playing off of Avatars success so it is not revolutionary. Plus it is a remake so the story is recycled and kind of run-of-the-mill.

Just like with anything (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc) there are different versions for different generations. Today the Original Star Trek Series looks clunky and kind of stupid. But to the people that grew up with it there is a good chance it is still their favorite. Same thing with Star Wars (except to a lesser extent I think). Just because people like one version above others doesn't make them less of a fan.
