Decent looking sets. The only big one though is the Village Attack. The rest are small. The Prison Escape is almost a battlepack. It will make a decent army builder. The King's Ambush has some nice trees and a nice looking carriage, which is nice. Overall though I'm kind of disappointed in these sets. It seems like Lego has started a trend with the past few Castle themes. They have a strong first year with a good number of large and small sets, and then in the second or third year they come out with like 4 sets and then end the theme. Its very disheartening.

The Falcon actually looks slightly improved in this picture. They basically took the old design and made a few improvements, which is fine. The Millennium Falcon can only be designed so many ways.

I don't mean to be a mini-moderator, but there are threads specific to this type of question. This thread is for speculation and discussion about 2011 Star Wars Sets. Nothing else. And fallenangel327, the misspelling of the "Millennium Falcon" is quite common among all Star Wars fans, not just the lazy ones. I don't think they are purposely leaving off that one letter because they are lazy. Personally I find it extremely rude that you went through the thread and posted a reply with the only goal being to point out grammar mistakes made by other members and opinions they have that you don't agree with. As a member of this community I find bashing of other members to be unnecessary.

Once again the OT is kind of getting the shaft. The Millenium Falcon looks like a slightly retooled version of the last one, and the Ewok Attack is disappointing. Why not include a couple Rebel Endor Troopers in the set and at least one more Imperial? Seems like a waste of a set.

After actually seeing these sets built and set up, I am a lot more impressed with them than I was before. My only quip is the fact that Lego can never seem to decide what legs and torso's figures should have. The colors change constantly it seems like. One plus though is the fact that there are finally more Dragon (bad) knights than there are lion (good) soldiers. Since the castle line first began the good guys have always had so many more soldiers than the bad guys. It looks like they are finally trying to remedy that.

Great review and great set. While it does seem like Lego Castle are getting a bit repetitive, the design is great and offers a lot of possibilities. I love the dark Pearl and wish that the Dragon Knights weren't always outnumbered lol. The new helmets are great to. My only problem is that on the Lion Knights with the red and white checker patten the white is not dark enough so the red bleeds through.

The best thing about this set is probably the ARF helmet. I mean the other clones are cool because of their new deco and the speeder is a vast improvement over the old one. But the helmet is the real kicker.

Once again the OT is getting the shaft on this wave of sets. The Ewok Attack is very limited in its minifigure selection. Another Rebel Trooper would have been nice. The Millenium Falcon is the exact same one we had before but with some different figures. The best sets are actually the TPM sets. Almost all of the minifigures look new which is great. Captain Panaka looks really cool. I really hope that this is a sign that Lego is going to come out with some more TPM sets and do the movie justice. While it wasn't the best, the Battle of Naboo has been severely underrepresented in Legos.

This is a great looking set. Not only does it include some unique minifigs, but it also includes two very cool vehicles. The speeder looks well built and fun to play with. The cannon is amazing. Its not only unique but also very cool looking.

REVIEW: 9349 Fairytale and Historic Minifigures
SWMAN replied to SilentMode's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Personally, this set is less of a collection of useful minifigures and more a collection of useful minifigure pieces. A lot of these figures are not very true or accurate compared to their respective themes. This set would be great for minifigure torsos and accessories but the figures by themselves aren't really that cool. Just my view. -
Not to be a buzz kill or anything, but considering Lego's track record with castle themes I would not be surprised if A) it was already cancelled or B) 2012 will be the last year for Kingdoms. While the new sets were great, I just don't think Lego really every puts that much time or effort into developing these castle themes. I mean the battlepacks were made of cheap plastic instead of anything quality. Plus, unlike something like Star Wars, Lego only puts out sets once a year. Plus the fact is that besides the windmill, which could be part of Lego's Architecture series or an exclusive set, we don't have any rumors or pictures, which is odd. Also, POTC is probably going to be huge for Lego, and along with some of there other new themes, they might be taking a break from Castle.

While this looks to be a great set and a great opportunity for some Battle Droid army building, I really wish that they had included some more good guys in this set. I like the fact that it includes two gungans (figures that have been severely underrepresented) but I feel like they also should have included some Naboo Royal Guards. I mean the set is called The Battle of Naboo, and there were more than Gungans in the battle. This would have been a great opportunity for Lego to redesign the Naboo speeder and include some redesigned guards. These are also figures that have been underrepresented which is unfortunate considering how cool they are in the movie.

While I am not happy that none of the sets are OT sets, I think that the mini figures in these sets are very promising. I am particularly impressed with the Clone Trooper Battlepack and the Jedi Starfighter (don't remember the name). Both of those as well as the Bounty Hunter Starfighter (don't remember the name) include almost all-new figures which is very rare when it comes to Lego. Hopefully the Battle of Naboo set is a precursor of more TPM sets to come. While the movie wasn't amazing, the whole battle in the end has a lot of potential that Lego never took advantage of.
-
While it would be really neat if Lego did make sets, the fact is that they won't. Besides the Rogue Shadow, Lego has never made a Lego set based off of a Star Wars video game. But, I know that people here will make some amazing MOC's which I can't wait for.
-
Very nice MOC. I really like when people take Lego's designs and make them more accurate. Lego is more concerned with playability than accuracy, which I completely understand. Their core market is kids who play with the toys. But back to your creation. I really love the small details that you added. Great job.
-
Wow that is great. I have always loved the tumbler more than the traditional batmobile. Great job.
-
Wow. Those sets sound like a major let-down. I can't believe that the only set that isn't CW is a set from TPM with some Gungans and Battle Droids. That is a major disappointment. There is still so much potential with the OT and even the PT. Just because the CW is the major Star Wars thing right now doesn't mean that it has to be the only sets that Lego makes.

I never said anything about them selling less. I just don't think the theme as a whole is as cool as it used to be. All I am saying is my personal opinion. I feel like it has gotten a bit stale and repetitive in the past few years. And while i will concede the point that the previous fantasy line was similar to LOTR, I feel like the theme was poorly executed. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.
-
While these are all solid sets, I feel like Lego Castle as a whole has fallen on the wayside. They really need something to reinvigorate the theme as a whole. In the past few years the theme has gotten quite dull and repetitive. If Lego can't manage to acquire the Lord of the Rings license then they need to make a theme that is LOTR in everything but name. If they can figure out some way to make a theme that has all of the right elements without violating copyright laws then they need to do so. I feel like that kind of theme would bring people back to Castle. BTW Artanis. I have had the same problem with multiple sets that I have purchased. I think that they speed at which Lego is boxing sets means that the instruction books get smashed or bent. I personally don't really care because my instructions just go in a drawer. As long as I can read them then I am fine.
-
Wow that is really impressive. Your addition really makes the set seem worth-while. You've corrected the common mistake that Lego makes which is the castle and towers are often one-sided and have no back to them.
-
I have to say that Lego has released too many versions of the AT-AT. The first one was just as good as this version. The only thing that makes this one worth buying is the figures. If they were going to release a new AT-AT why didn't they do a total redesign instead of just releasing a version that looks almost identical to the old one? Considering how well Lego has done with remaking old sets and improving on them I feel like they really dropped the ball on this one.
-
I am a big fan of the more recent sets, but just the OT ones. I have never been a huge PT or CW fan so I don't really like the Lego's that much. But, with the advent of better pieces and more movie-accurate sets, recent years have been good for OT Lego's. I just wish they would produce more of them. I am also a huge fan of the Flesh-colored figures. While the yellow is traditional, I think that the flesh-color makes the sets much more realistic and accurate.
-
That would be amazing, but unfortunately unrealistic. Lego rarely, if ever, releases the "perfect set" that everybody wants. If we did get a Palpatine's Arrest set, it would probably just include Palpatine, Mace, and one other jedi that was there.
-
Personally I am not really a big fan of this new line of figures. It feels like Lego is venturing too far away from their core, which is building sets, and is instead trying to go into action figures. These just don't feel very Lego and they look a little too childish for my taste. Of course, I was never a Bionicle fan, so I am a little biased.

Have you decided on your Lions and Dragon Knights navy?
SWMAN replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
While ships might be fun, I wouldn't expect any from Lego. While they have never tried to make their Castle sets super historically accurate, they do try to keep everything in a general time period. Ships were almost never used as combat vessels during Medieval times for the simple reason that most of the combat took place in either present-day France or Great Britain. The only reason ships were needed was to transport troops. True there were probably small boats on rivers that may have been used for combat, but a "navies" weren't really used. With the Fantasy theme Lego could get away with ships because it was all Fantasy and more along the lines of Lord of the Rings. But now they are going back to more traditional ideas and ships aren't really accurate.
