You awake on a cold stone slab at the top of towering stepped pyramid, the last thing you remember was sharp pain in the back of your head before it all went dark. You can't see anyone around but you're sure things won't end well if you hang around here. You quickly descend the pyramid, afraid to look back. There are huts at the bottom and you try to sneak between them, keeping out of sight, You pass what could be a ball game court and head for the cover of the jungle, heading up a hill, you're faced with a rickety bridge, it doesn't look stable and the valley below is deep and the water dark and fast flowing, but there is no other option but to cross, Your heart is beating when you make it to the other side, you start running, pushing branches of jungle trees out of your way when suddenly the ground gives way....... A spiked pit trap! ....... you manage to keep your footing and swerve around it and soon the jungle opens out and you are standing on a cliff. What's that on the horizon? it's your ship... they're waiting for you. You run to the edge but it's too high to jump, and it looks like there are sharks in the water, you have to find a way down to the beach, Reluctantly you head back into the jungle, you try to fight against it but your path seems to be drawing you back under the ominous shadow of the great pyramid, Soon you are at its foot, the jungle is thick all around it, it looks like a dead end. Then just when you are about to give up you find an opening to a tunnel, its dark, but what other choice do you have.... The tunnel is long but there is a small glow that suggests an exit, so you run towards it..... Eugh, the exit is a mass of cobwebs and spiders, but you're out of the tunnel and back into.... ...more jungle, and its leading you back to the village. It's dusk and you stick to the shadows, skirting around the edge of the pillars of a grey building that could be a palace you head through a garden and back into the trees, The path is over-grown with plants and you duck and weave between branches and leaves and scramble over roots, putting as much distance between you and the pyramid as you can, The light is fading as night approaches but there is a flicker of fire ahead. You emerge into a clearing and stare up in horror at the grinning face of a jaguar carved into the living rock, its mouth open and its stalactite-like teeth seemingly gnashing in the eerie glow of the brazier's flames. There is only one path, so with mounting dread you head cautiously between its teeth. The cave is dark and you narrowly avoid falling into a pit on your right, but heading left you emerge once again into jungle, it's almost dawn. but this time the vegetation is less dense and seems to be sloping gently downwards to the sea, You see a sail... your ship has moored at the beach, you run towards it, and safety..... Every Village needs a local shop where they can buy snow shoes or get spare keys cut or a trophy engraved. This maybe the first actual town model I've build, and it became clear halfway through that I don't have a whole lot of house type bricks, like doors or windows, which is why it is maybe a bit small. There are a few other pictures on my flickr page.

There has been a number of excellent space themed trees, but space is pretty big (so I've heard) so there should be space for one more. Also this acts as the "exciting" conclusion to the Unidentified Sock Saga, probably. Edit: Also thanks for running the raffle again CopMike

Thanks everyone for your kind words, I've been wanting to build an aztec temple ever since the Aztec Warrior was released in 2012, and this competition has given me the motivation. I'm glad everyone likes the blood too; I don't usually like building violent scenes, this competition seemed to demand it, but I was concerned I'd gone overboard.

Staslegomaster, Thanks, I do have the Achu figure; the priest uses his cloak and legs (but you can't see them) and one of the guard's uses his face. I was thinking of using Achu's headdress but I though since I'd used two figures almost unchanged from the originals I thought I'd better try to mix it up a bit.

Huitzilopochtli was the Aztec's god of war, sun, human sacrifice and the patron of the city of Tenochtitlan. It was vitally important to the Aztec people to keep him happy via offerings and human sacrifice. The stone disc on the top of the temple represents the sun.

FonsoSac has already answered this but I thought I'd add that one of the other major differences was (is) that tente has "pin" style connections in addition to the LEGO-style ones, for example the Tente antenne has a pin on the bottom rather than a stud, and it could fit into a hole in the stud of the tente plates, which was good in theory but they were the pieces that snapped most and left a little piece of tente stuck in your plate piece making it useless for connecting to other things. When I reccently rebuilt my tente models I was amazed at how brittle they feel, a number of times when I was putting them together I thought I was going to snap them in half, it was difficult to know how much force to apply to get them to stay together properly. Also if you hold the model at either end and give it a very slight twist, it creaks.

bublibe, glad I could help. I sorta agree, obviously classic space will always be awesome, but the specialist pieces in Tente lent themselves really well to that kind of space set (I like all the hand drawn illustrations on packaging as well). They definitely had more of a harder Sci-Fi edge to the design. I don't think Tente had a huge market area, I read somewhere that it was really designed with the only the Spanish market in mind, and the only sets I ever saw in the UK were given away with a box of Ice Cream cones (weird). I think the ship sets had a wider distribution in the US and Europe, but I wasn't really interested in them. You can still get unopened sets on eBay, although they are a bit pricey.

Hello, I reccently rediscovered some of my old Tente sets hidden away, and decided to reinterpreted as Neo-Classic Space. Tente was a construction toy that was produced in Spain from 1972 to 1993. It felt much more brittle than LEGO and pieces snapped easily, however in the 80's, when I was spending long summers in Spain and was right in the target age group, they made some interesting sets (especially space themed), and I managed to collect a few. So far I've rebuilt 4 of the 5 space themed sets I have, Tente went in for a lot more domed screens than LEGO and had some interesting pieces that LEGO don't do, so a number of the sets have been changed significantly, but that was partly the point. I'd be interested to know if anyone else had Tente and if you've ever rebuilt them in LEGO. The original names of the sets are, from top to bottom, Space Patrol, Vigilantic, Pegasus and Krang, the orignial sets can be seen here: http://www.latentete.../?serie=Compact The whole Tente range is worth checking out; the best archieve site I can find is www.latenteteca.com/
