You don't know anything more about the cube than I do. I'm an insightful guy, Yelana, I know when someone is trying to sell me something. And again, you work with Blackguard, so you're hardly a champion of ethical justice here.
-
You didn't talk to him. I did. And if you're going to keep snap assumptions then we're done here. Soren sat back on the ground, gazing out the blasted-open hole.
-
Oh, she was still going. Soren wiped off a bit more blood and looked up at her. At least she seemed a little honest for once. Yeah, no, bringing up Blackguard still sounded paranoid. They were obvi'usly not comin' back. It was pretty clear you just wanted the cube to yourself. He stumbled to his feet and retrieved his knife and gun. Kish didn't offer me anything, by and by. My plan was to show him the cube, tell him I'd been hired by Oc|Tan, 'nd convince him to meet their price. Nah, we just talked. He wanted to give free energy to the people. 'Seemed like a noble 'nough goal to me, there ain't a lot of idealists left in these parts.
-
Yeah. That's what I just said. The pilot rubbed at his temples, waiting for the Space Police to show up. He'd just been the most honest with the spy as he could hope to be, and still her snap-assumption was that he'd betrayed her somehow. She was paranoid, and there was nothing that could be done to help that.

Soren dropped his head in his hands. I meant I lied about Blackgaurd showing up. Like, literally just now. But you clearly don't know how to take an olive branch when it's offered to you, so I'm done.
-
Soren smacks away her hand. I didn't know you had taken the cube. I know you've been using the cloak, 'nd I know you just used it again 'bout five minutes ago - re-hiding the cube, presumably. When I felt the cube was gone, and it was just Zaria and you in the room, it was pretty obvious what had happened. Kish was the Quarm, Target B. Which I know because I was actually getting intel whilst you were running off doin' who knows what. Soren sighs, wiping the blood away from his forehead. Would that scar? He could probably get it healed up somewhere. Look, Yelana. Let me break it to you easy, because frankly all of this exhausts me. I'm bein' honest, here. You ain't that great of a spy. I wish you were. You're a bad liar, and you're bad at this interrogation thing you're trying to do. The reason you're bad at all of this is because you don't trust anyone. Now, I never once lied to you this entire train ride until we got in this room together. I see no reason to lie to anyone, 'a waste of breath. And I see no reason to go over all this to you now 'cept for the fact that you keep haranguing me for no damn reason. That's my point - Zaria and I 'done nothing wrong to you, yet you've gone behind our backs and lied to our faces the whole ride. Now, I don't much mind that, but I do mind you accusing us of shit when we both know you ain't been fully honest. Because you keep doing this shady trash and then accusing us of it, I don't much trust you. I 'specially don't trust you with that there cube. Now I don't know if you're planning to give it to Oc|Tan for the creds, or to Blackguard for whatever twisted agenda you've got goin' on. Frankly, I don't care. I just don't trust you. 'Wish I could, being honest. It would make for an easier job; the way I see it, a good spy ought to trust their team. But you clearly don't trust us, so I gotta repay the favour. 'Only person I really trust with it is Kish, because he seems like the best and most honest sport in this race. So I tried to get it to him - that's why I've been lying to you know. Because I tried to do one damn good thing in my life. But you gone done and pilfered it before I even had the chance, so congrats, I guess. Now I presume you have it back in the energy compartment where it was in the first place, so really it's like none of this happened, I just don't get the extra credits I was hoping to get from the Quarm. But hey, whatever happens, happens, right? The pilot took a deep breath, lying against the floor. You've gone and made me rant. I hate wasting this much breath.

I was never unconscious, mate. But I was, y'know, kind of in a lot of pain and hardly able to stop a woman with a cloak from pilfering through my pockets. To answer your question, Space Police sucks. Blackguard sucks. Hart sucks. Whatever the hell "us" you're part of probably sucks. Autonomous institutions aren't my jam. 'Speaking of, why the stars are you so convinced the cube is like a 'conspiracy' or whatever? No one said anything like that, not even Kish.
-
Aren't you Blackguard? You're 'ardly in a place to judge ITAs. Well I know for a damn fact I had it before you walked into the room, and I'm proficient enough to know you've been switching that damn cloaking generator on and off all quest. I ain't an idiot, Yelana, I can put two and two together.

Soren squinted at Yelana. For a spy, you don’t seem to know how head injuries work. At Zaria’s intervention, Soren swung his arms out. Believe me, I’d love nothing more than to be able to offer the cube right now.
-
Attitude!? I just got attacked, and you’re accusing me of - what exactly are you accusing me of? Minding telling me where the cube is, miss Cloaking Device? There were bright dropship lights and a head injury, you bet I wasn’t focused on identifying the exact species of my attackers in case my teammate interrogated me.
-
I’m sorry I didn’t get a good look at them while I was being beat to a pulp. I picked it up because I wanted to see if we could carry it, rather than just leaving it on the floor of the train, since I didn’t know you had pilfered some energy gloves. I’m sorry if it’s such a crime to try to wrap up our op.
-
They did, I already said that. And how should I know why they didn’t search me? They seemed to believe me, that’s all I know.
-
There’s a difference between being unconscious and bleeding out. They definitely didn’t think I was dead, they just believed I didn’t have the cube. I’ve told you all that happened, I don’t know what else you want.
-
Nah, I was conscious the whole time. I had the thing when they left. As for what I remember, there’s no much to tell - I was minding my business, out of curiosity I slipped on the armour and tried to pick up the cube, and then they stormed in. ‘Beat me up, wanted to know where the cube was, gave me this cut. Soren motions to his face. Luckily, I was able to convince them it was long gone. After roughing me up for long enough, I guess they were content. But yeah, I definitely had it on me when they left. Which means someone here had to have grabbed it. Or it rolled off the train, but that seems less likely.
-
Well, you’re a shitty spy too, so I guess we’re all even, Soren groans, rolling onto his side. Yeah, yeah. You were right about one thing - Blackguard did come back. Roughed me up a little, bit I was able to hide the cube from them. Turns out this armour actually works pretty well, I’ve got the cube right- Soren goes to check his pockets, but funds them void of any cubes. What in the stars!? It was right here!

I'm never worried. 'Just seemed like the natural next step. The pilot glances at Zaria's display of pocketing the credits. We all squared up, then? I can stick around in here, y'all can check on the crew and get settled in for the ride. Hopefully, we can make it to Con'stop in one piece.
-
I said that we should talk to the crew. I never volunteered, but since you're so worried about it, 'sounds like you're volunteering. I'm sure I'll be fine. They left in a whole hurry. And if they come back, I can pop a plasma potion and put up the wall. Your concern is sweet ain't necessary.
-
We just killed one Blackguard agent and scared off two more, I doubt they're coming back any time soon. If you want someone to stick around, I could get my spirit back and keep the wall patched up. I'm cozy with the engineers here, anyways. 'All else fails, we could just leave the cube with the train.
-
...did you just whisper into your shoulder? That's a weird thing to do. ...yeah, that's what I just said. Do you know something I don't, spy? In any case, Zaria has the files memorized.
-
Soren shrugged. And? That's M-Tec's problem. Or Oc|Tan, if we wind up delivering it. I can see that, but I'm pretty sure we've gathered about all the knowledge we're going to from this thing through the three checks you've already made.
-
Soren glances around at the small engine room, estimating the amount of destruction an uncontained blast would cause. No. The pilot caught the leathers, a bit unsure what to do with them. I figured Zaria was going to divvy these out. I'll take 'em if you want, but I don't expect to use 'em for a while. He watches for a moment as Yelana tries over and over to determine the cube's origin. It's a powerful energy source, I have no interest in it beyond that. Are we, uh, are we planning to carry it out? 'm not sure we have the equipment to move it.
