I always try to get stuff from Europe, preferable Germany, Belgium or The Netherlands. I know once, when I first bought from bricklink, I ordered 1 red cape: the shipping costs were more than the bloody piece of canvas! I thought all orders go together, like on S@H...

On real ships, the guns do go so far to the stern, There is supposed to be a wall from the second gun you can see in the cabin, It won't be a luxury cabin, but who cares...

The Lotus is a sloop, at least, that is what I think, the armament doesn't matter if your ship is a sloop...It can have 2 guns or 4, or whatever!

I tried to make something so I can have access to the gun deck and cabin, but that would get way too complex. Here's a teaser pic of my new stern: and the cabin: More pictures will be showed in the future thread: Progress of the Acheron part III

Those gaps are also on real ships... But the quarter deck IS too high if I want to build an accurate model of the Acheron...

May I also recommend you this book? It is a very helpful book, I often use it when I'm building a ship...

Very creative! If this was in a competition, and I would be a jury member, I would sure give you a 10 for creativity! Ghost vessels don't need wind...I guess....like in POTC....

The only thing I can add on this is that I am a purist if it comes to this....The only thing wich I ''allow'' are custom stickers, modifyng minifig parts and modifyng weapons. What I don't "allow" are modifying other lego parts and using pieces from copy brands(excluding weapons). I just don't like it, Lego has got the best quality, and I don't want it to be messed up by parts from copy brands...

Those prices are pretty steep *wacko* I'm sorry but it is not so hard to create a small merchant ship without spending 100 euros....
