  1. It indeed will be handy to have more view angle control besides the normal navigation stuff. But I would be in the form of changes to the compass. I'll see if I can integrate something similar without breaking the current way of interaction after I completed the bin changes.
  2. The difference between 'user folder' and '(un)official library' locations is the presences of 'parts' and 'p' folders at the given location. Also the bin handles files located in library locations differently. You probably using only a few unofficial parts? I usually download the whole unofficial package which is like a second complete.zip . But if it works for you there is no need to change it :)
  3. Not exactly the same, but you could use a combo of ortho and perspective by using 'v' and 'shift+v' or a pinned view /view angle menu. shift+v might be most handy as it tries to retain the view direction while swithing from orth (2D) to perspective (3D) view.
  4. That's an unofficial part, have you added the unofficial library to the search locations, using the prefs/search library paths dialog? You do so by selecting the official lib line in the dialog followed by pressing 'new' the you change it's folder to wherever the unof lib lives also check 'unofficial' for the type. You need to restart the application afterwards. Mirroring is something I'm considering not sure jet in what form though. As for the bins do you mean besides the ones in the 'sorted' tree branch?
  5. Hi all, I'm the author of LDCad, I'm not often logged in on eurobricks but I do keep an eye on it as I also enjoy real life (technic) LEGO. So feel free to ask or suggest anything in this thread, I'm always open to comments. As for the GUI... with 1.5 I'm making some changes (bins will be detachable/dockable) but if anyone has some additional ideas on how to improve the gui please let me know.
  6. I must say I was kinda baffled when I first read this. Sergio was a very nice guy who deserved a long and healthy live. All the best to his friends and family.
  7. The modelteam sets, especially the later bigger ones. The start of the model team era overlapped with me loosing interest in Lego during my teens :(
  8. Very nice, Where did you get all that green and those orange chain wheels if you just started with modern technic? Considering there a no current sets holding those parts. Would like to get my hands on more green myself :)
  9. Having missed the infamous 8285 set, I too are looking forward to this set. @TechnicJuan : In the shop I get most of my stuff, it's listed with a release date of 2 march. Those dates seem to be at the save side most of the time though, cause most sets become available a couple of weeks before the listed date (at the same shop).
  10. I would actually prefer an android tablet over an iPad one, but current cheaper models all seem to be very slow and use 'old' touchscreen technology. And the more expensive ones are outside my budget at the moment.
  11. In the "Installing LSynth" section there are two more downloads besides the main setup. Did you install those too?
  12. You need to look into LSynth for that. Asking this on the LDraw.org forum might give you more insight though.
  13. That's an great idea. I don't think the resolution is a major problem considering the poor quality of the LEGO pdf's to begin with. I was planning on getting a frame sometime anyway. Will consider this when choosing a model for sure :)
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. I did consider paper printout, but I only own a mono laser printer. And having it printed at a office store seems a bit overkill for a single build. I agree on an iPad probably being the best solution at the moment, but I was hoping someone could suggest a cheaper alternative. I've been looking into some of the (very) cheap clones outthere, some as low as 80Euro, but they all seem to come without pdf support out of the box. And though it seems possible to install a pdf reader I can't find any decent reviews addressing this. On top of this Lego's manual pdf's are big in tablet terms, so any information I did find suggests those cheap ipad clones are way to slow for it. As for a laptop, I'm usually building on the floor of a spare room (pretty small room) so the less extra stuff the better. In short, anyone had some positive results using cheaper tablet's ?
  15. Hi all, I've been building technic models as an adult for nearly a year now. And I think it's time to explore the B-Models of the sets I have. But one of the first things I noticed after my 15 year LEGO vacation, is the lack of paper manuals for these B-Models in most sets. So how do you use the downloadable pdf's ? imho Best thing would be a color e-reader, but these are still very rare/expensive. A laptop seems to clumsy. I don't own something like an iPad at the moment. And I'm not jumping on the idea of spending 600 euros, just for working with the lego pdf's. So anyone has any better (inexpensive) alternatives?
  16. I've found (NL) pricing on 9395 and 9397 but now I'm even more confused about their size. Especially 9395 (the pickup truck) it's listed at 50 Euro, I'd expected it to be at least 80 cause the pictures I've seen so far suggest it's quite big because it has the same wheels as 8258 or I'm i mistaking? 9397 is listed at 110 Euro, so it should be slightly larger then 8070 (which is 96 at the same shop). It also has the '8258' wheels I think. Both sets seem to have great part price ratio's. Can't wait till January :)
  17. I do own a couple of other sets but they are currently showcased (including 8252) and I wouldn't want to disassemble them (yet), they might get plundered eventually if this nxt thing gets addicting. The idea was to get an extra 'cheap' set just for gears and or beams so I could experiment without having to disassemble the other models. Getting a 2nd 8252 would set me back an extra 130 euro's though (blowing my 2011 budget to hell), so I have to think about that. Also I might be tempted to show case the B-Model :) Thanks all.
  18. Hi all, I'm thinking of buying the NXT 2.0 set, but because of it's low piece count (a complaint in many reviews) I might be tempted to get an additional set just for parts. The question to the experts is what set to get for such a purpose, it shouldn't be too expensive ether because of the already high price of the NXT set. I really don't understand why there are no proper expansion sets anymore like 871 Also is it just me or are those NXT motors HUGE?
