Heroica RPG- Quest # 55: Sang Des Hommes
-obelix- replied to Capt.JohnPaul's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I have to say I am very proud of what we did here today. Hopefully the peace you made will last long and let both nations prosper on their own terms. Jonothan, Captain Trent, Scipio, I bid you farewell. And captain, should you need our help again, you know where to find us. Namaarie and good luck to you!" With those word Thalion left the Charis lands and returned to Eubric. Namaarie - Farewell -

"Those terms are a fair compromise I think. And I will take your word Scipio to do everything in your power to convince Croise not to return to these lands. So, Scipio, Jonothan, captain Trent, lets make peace!" "And never mind the dwarf, most of the time there is a lady under there, somewhere, but she is having one of those days..." -

"A bribe would imply that I need you to do something for the gold, and I don't need you to do anything. You felt that I cheated you and ASKED for the gold so there you go. I know that I let Dreyrugr have some good things, and Nessa and Alexander already got well compensated for their expenses. Janek was as absentminded as you and he too was compensated. Last of the things I kept for myself I plan on giving, as I said already, to people I think truly deserve them, so the only logical conclusion left is, I should keep SOMETHING for myself for the expenses for future quests. I will speak no more of it." Thalion says with the definitive tone, turns and walks to the Charis and Croise. OOC: I won't post Thalions comments on the sorcerer's evil influence, because I think Amma can't conclude, or even speculate, about it from that one, small mention. Especially because of him being generous in it. :) -
"Thalion, the lawyer" A mage-lawyer, good concept for a comic book...

Thalion turned the scepter still in his hand, "These adjectives you used to describe me, think carefully about them OR if they imply to you, and then if the answer is no, come back and repeat them to me and I will accept them. How dare I, easy. Back in the hall of Heroica you never did explain the oddity of a young elf showing up sad, with an opal stone missing, and you showing up almost immediately one opal stone richer. When asked for an explanation, you refused to say anything, which everyone respected as they were your private. And YOU find it just to lecture me about THAT (staying silent about reasons for doing something). Hypocrite. It seems that I misjudged YOU, by taking your side in that matter and respecting your reasons for doing what you did. Be very careful with your words dwarf, and do not twist mine around. I DID NOT say Nessa was the best fighter, I said she was among the most USEFUL ones in the fights we had here. I did indeed suffer same bad luck in these fights, but what I did, I did for the group. I will even give you an example; instead of getting some much needed rest for an upcoming fight who got out and bought you supplies that would help you stay alive afterwords. I do not need for you to justify my actions now by saying "thats right" or "thank you", I do what I think is right and ask for no ones approval or forgiveness. I am no master or teacher; I am still only a recently graduated mage myself, and if you wish to learn - observe." "And leave others alone, they do not need to take anyone's side, this is between you and me! Or do you plan a fight and need someone to back you up?" Thalion stopped and pondered for a moment on what was said. His head and hands, and the scepter in them, lowered slightly, "I have no desire to fight, verbally or physically. It is not in my nature. Drop this matter, as I am willing to. Here, if it will make you happy or content, 30/6 is 5. But know that gold truly cannot buy happiness." Thalion throws 5 gold in front of Amma. -
Flipz, be sure to check Thalion's latest reply to Amma in #55 top of page 25 on #55, there is a mention of Arthur and a display of some of the dark influence Arthur was on Thalion. The speech is titled "When goody-goody gets angered."

Thalion felt a rage building inside him, a feeling he hasn't felt in a long, long time, "First off THIEF, I am no one's master and I will not have my honor questioned by a grumpy little naysayer, who steals lost elven girls family heirlooms in forests, at night. We did think about tactics and we did win as a team, but you were never part of a team, right from the start. Think about your actions then, and throughout this whole quest, . And yes, some members were more useful then the others, and YES by that I think of you. I am sorry I had nothing better to give out to Alexander and Nessa, because the two of them were more useful then the rest of us combined (dice=fate), but they did get those nice bows so I feel we've compensated them in some way. You on the other hand deserved NOTHING. You were grumbling, bickering and always doing what you wanted, only marginally listening to what we have to say and even then only if it suited you. Cast a spell - you throw your stick' drink a potion - you attack, come attack with us - you sit in the back. Yes, I believe we would have been better off without YOU." He pointed at Amma. "And if we did receive the loot at the start, it would have been distributed in the exact same way, the only thing I had in mind was to give you one of grand tonics, like I received one from the powerful sorcerer as a parting gift, when we leave this quest, but now I think I will give it to someone else, a person who deserves it far more then you." "YOU are disappointed in ME?" Thalion took his scepter from the back and griped it tightly in front of him. "Feel free to challenge me any time!" OOC: Hows that for a rage speech? -

"Here is my opinion: Releasing all families in Croise prisons and towers, but the captured parts of Croise army that attacked this town be released is a fair compromise for both parties. Next, Croise should leave Charis and surrender their arms and armor to Charis is a much better guarantee of them not attacking again, then just moving some kilometers away. And finally, 25,000 gold sounds like a reasonable trade-off for getting you families back safely." Thalion turned to Scipio, "You WILL release all of Charis prisoners both soldiers and families, right? And what guarantee do Charis have that Croise will honor this peace treaty and not attack them again after you regroup?" Thalion turned and gave Amma a stern look, "You expect an explanation!? After I've used up mine and master Janek's tonics to help YOU and Nessa survive last fight, and after I bought a vial of strange liquid I DIDN'T WANT but YOU suggested, and asked nothing of YOU in return! Do you think I have ever been unfair mistress Stigveladi?" -

"Of course good captain. Tell us of this disputes, what is the trouble?" Thalion gives Amethyst back to Dreyrugr, "Thank you for the loan, it proved to be worthwhile. If you are ever looking to get rid of it permanent, just ask! May I have my gems back?" Edit: Also Janek gives his potion back to Dreyrugr (it was loaned, after all...) Thalion and Janek will also rest in their bedrolls (if it is too late, then on the first chance there is). -

Thalion puts 30 gold and grand tonic in his satchel. He nods to captain Trent and Jonothan, "I am willing to help you. Dont worry about additional awards, serving the cause of justice is good enough. As young Nessa said, what would be our duties?" He then turn to the rest of the party, "What do you say? Do you wish to help them too?" -

"Is that sarcasm I sense in your voice mistress Amma? If you indeed saw their power, you should not doubt the gods. If you haven't, just give it time, you will. And to address your other note, the fact that there is more then one god, to me, means that there is order and balance of power, as it should be. One isn't more powerful then the other, they only watch over different domains of our lives." -

"Of course I do but elemental magic is the bond of the gods to our world, at least that is what we were taught. We have a temple of Sylvania in the village I come from, and in the Academy, there was a small chapel of Isiris. I am sure. I have witnessed the power of temple's oracle with my own eyes. Gods, and their emissaries, are not to be disrespected." Seeing Nessa and Amma getting ready to rest Thalion approached them, "Perhaps we should report to the Captain first!? Afterwords we can all rest, if time allows it." -
What a great looking cabin! The interior and that chimney solution are so simple and so good. Truly an amazing job!

"I am afraid not master Alexander, no magic that I know of can help here. But you are right, those frequent faintings have to be remedied soon lest we all get in danger because of it happening in the middle of some battle. And for that, she has to visit a temple when we go back to the city." -

Venom for Nessa, Ice bomb for Alexander, Tonic Amma, Health Core to Thalion, Smelling Salts for Dreyrugr. Tahlion hands 4 gold to Janek and Nessa, and 5 gold to rest of the heroes. -

Hearing Nessa's shouts across a battlefield, Thalion nods in approval and gets ready to support the party's archers. Thalion attacks Croise Marksman F with darkness spell from the back row. If he is down, Thalion attacks Croise Marksman D from the back row (melee). Janek does nothing in the back row. Battle Order: Alexander - CM-F, back row Nessa - CM-D, back row Tahlion - CM-F, darkness, back row | CM-D, back row Janek - nothing, back row - slowed Dreyrugr - nothing, back row - slowed Amma - nothing, back row - slowed -

Thalion was strained from the last attack and felt the need to rest along with Nessa and Alexander. As the other three heroes prepared to move, he gestured to Amma to stay with them in the back row. Thalion does nothing in the back row. Janek casts a wind spell at Croise Marksman D from the back row. Battle Order: Alexander - nothing, back row - slowed Janek - CM-D, wind, back row Dreyrugr - CM-E, front row Tahlion - nothing, back row - slowed Amma - DC-B, back row Nessa - nothing, back row - slowed -

OOC: It is clear, no worries. BO and actions were formulated in accordance with those effects. Feel free to run this round, since active heroes have confirmed their actions. P.S. Our heroes may be slowed but I am sure most PLAYERS got *confused* effect attached to them; am I right JJ? -

OOC: The effects cannot multiply, you can have several, or all of them together, but you cant be double slowed (if you are slowed, you are slowed). Don't worry about it. It is simply the fact that Alexander, Nessa and Thalion are slowed in two rounds consecutive (without remedying their status), so, in this round they can act, just the rest of our party can't. -

"Great work people, especially you mistress Amma! Alexander lets finish them, take Dark Croise A, I will take Croise Marksman D." Seeing Nessa shaking in the back row, Thalion yelled, "NESSA! What are you doing? Get back up and target Croise Marksman B!" Thalion attacks Croise Marksman D with darkness spell, from the back row. Janek does nothing in the back row. Battle Order: Alexander - DC-A, back row Thalion - CM-D, back row Dreyrugr - nothing, back row - slowed Janek - nothing, back row - slowed Nessa - CM-B, back row Amma - nothing, back row - slowed OOC: The fact that we are all slowed, doesn't mean some of us cant act, just that we can do so every other turn. I dont know what all those calculations are for, since the enemy that joins a battle cannot act that turn, unless he is hastened. Also, change your character's action since she can act this turn, like Alexander and Thalion. -
This is how it should look like {defense after and before row}: Thailon vs. Croise Chevalier A> Damage (15 - (10/2 - 1) = 11 health) OR (15 + 1 - 10/2 = 11 health) {as I have seen WBD run it} In the rules, the damage is always rounded up. Either way, the result is, and it should be, the same.

I thought slowed affected first 3 heroes in BO. If its in the party, its even better, so the BO should be: Battle Order: Alexander - nothing, back row - slowed Thalion - nothing, back row - slowed Dreyrugr - CC-A, back row Janek - CC-C, wind, back row Nessa - nothing, back row - slowed Amma - DC-A, ice, back row Note to QM: Even if you added SP before, Janek should still be at 6 health (7+2-{5/2=3}), and Thalion should suffer only 4 damage since he has SP 1 = 11/15 health. And Psy is right, Ranger's miss is Aim. -

Thalion does nothing in the back row. Janek attacks Croise Chevalier C with wind spell from the back row. Battle Order: Alexander - nothing, back row - slowed Dreyrugr - nothing, back row - slowed Thalion - nothing, back row - slowed Janek - CC-C, wind, back row Nessa - CC-A, back row Amma - DC-A, ice, back row Note to QM: Why did Thalion only get one roll and why did he suffer 10 damage, since CC-A is no longer encouraged (16 health)? Also Shouldn't Janek be at 6 health ( 7 - {5/2=3 - 2} )?
