  1. After 13 months and almost 300 hours our member Perfectionist has finished his beautiful 36 gun French frigate Achille. And it even has an interior! Go here and have a look at the amazing details of this rare beauty.
  2. I'll close this thread and we can continue discussing the subject in the other one.
  3. Happy Birthday Whitefang! I hope you have a nice day and get some new LEGO sets for your collection.

  5. Best LEGO Sailing Ships Index What is this index for? This thread is for the best ships (minifigure illusion scale) from the Ship MOCs Index. How is this indexed? The Best LEGO Sailing Ships Index is sorted with the ship with the most points first and the ship with the least points last. Anyway you can help? As this was done in 2010 by public vote, there really isn't much to add. You can, however, ask questions and comment in this very topic. To what extent is this updated? This was done through public Eurobricks member vote in 2010. Thus, this is not updated regularly. With that said, another vote to see what are the best ships from the end of 2010 to now might happen in the near future. The Index No 1. 6. True, it's rather funny looking at it 2 years later I confirm that our room (the Belgian-Dutch room) is correct! Thanks again Ras for all the work you are putting into this. The event will be one of the highlights of 2011 for me (amongst some others). To all eventees: We'll again do a "Eurobricks: behind the scenes" presentation (and interactive session) during the event, most probably on Friday evening. Is that timing OK Ras? Better we nail down the timeslot so people who are coming only one or 2 days can take this into account if they'd like to participate. I promise there will be some dirty secrets revealed on a number of staff members
  7. That's good news! And I know Captain Green Hair doesn't snore, so we're
  8. Yeah fine for me. If any of my potential room mates are snoring, please raise your hand. I can't sleep with snoring people in the room and still remember I slept in the bathroom at the 2009 event .
  9. It all happened while I was sleeping, but it seems we had some downtime. I'll do an analysis of our server logfiles and try to find the reason of our downtime. If this happens again we'll contact our server provider for an in depth analysis. Let's hope it was a one time issue on our server or the internal network of our provider.
  10. Moved to Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds. @thewatchman: Please use proper punctuation and capitalization when posting. Thanks!
  11. Fantastic display Captain! I love to see some of your ships in action. The SNOT water looks great and so it all the action, both on the ships and in the water. And your new frigate is just , but she really needs a sister ship to help her fight those big English ships-of-the-line
  12. Hello Mrs Rufus! It's so nice to read you are also a LEGO addict, just like your husband, and that you've decided to join Eurobricks. Will you accompany Mr Rufus to the Eurobricks event in Windsor?
  13. If someone told me he'd made a ship using the 'CGH hull techniques' and give it an interior I'd have told him that it won't be easy to do. If the same person would tell me he'd make the deck fully removable (incl. masts and rigging) I'd have told him it won't probably be stable enough. But hey, here it is, you've done it! The interior is absolutely beautiful, and so are the deck details. The different kind of ropes and the extremely careful way in which you did all the rope-works are the best I've seen till now. I'm especially amazed that you managed to make such a nice looking cabin, which looks great on the outside, while dealing with a number of building limitations that go together with giving it an interior. Personally I'm not going to give my future ships interiors as I never open my ships (I once gave a ship an interior and opened noticed later that I never opened it), but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing yours. I also like how you've put the gun ports (the back flags) at the same line as the wall and now 'sticking out'. It's not yet entirely clear to me how you did that, but I'll find out eventually. If I need to say one thing that I'd have done differently it would probably be the red-yellow color combination, but now I'm talking about personal preference. Congrats perfectionists, you have moved the bar on 'minifig illusion scale' ship building with this frigate of yours. I'm looking forward seeing your next creation!
  14. Happy Birthday KimT!
  15. I'd also like to see a pic if possible.
  16. I will attend the full event and arrive in Windsor on Tuesday evening (adding a day in London on Wednesday). We actually plan on arriving in the UK on Monday afternoon for visiting the HMS Victory in Portsmouth on Tuesday, but we'll arrange our own hotel (in Portsmouth) for the first Monday-Tuesday night. 17. On this sad day I went to the funeral of our friend Dieter, known here as our Lord Admiral Zorro. It's hard to sum up all the good things Dieter did for this community. He was one of the pillars behind Classic-Pirates.com and Eurobricks.com, someone who was always friendly and willing to help others. Dieter was not just a talker, but also working very hard behind the scenes with some examples being his fund raising allowing us to do a number of awesome Pirate contests. He was also the one buying most of the prizes and taking care of shipments for every pirate contest we did these last few years. Dieter was only 27 years old and his unexpected death was a huge shock for me personally and the ones close with him. I was lucky to have known Dieter in real life as we lived close to each other. Together we drove in 2009 to the Eurobricks event in Germany having a lot of fun both at the event and during the long car trip. Also we met on several occasions in Dieter's home or my place whenever some 'important' forum matters needed discussion or just for some building and a few drinks. Feel free to write a few words in this thread. We'll make sure a link is provided to Dieter's brother Jurgen and to his mother. We'll miss our Lord Admiral! Thanks for everything.

  19. As we discussed via PM, we'll take the ship out of the final voting. Sorry, it went in the voting thread even though it was unfinished. The idea behind was that even when unfinished it would stand a chance to get a good number of votes. We'll do another voting for best ship in the future so the ship will get it's chance to be measured with all the other ships. There's no conspiracy against your ship to make another one look better. I'm sorry if you feel unhappy about the way the ship went into the voting thread, it was not my intention to have this effect on you. To make up for this I'll make sure your ship gets a nice frontpage post (I have a feeling it would have made the Eurobricks frontpage in any case ). Now, onto the ship, I think it will score very high when the final pics are available!
  20. Actually, you are an excellent example for explaining how we work (being a previously banned member who re-joined by making a new account). As the first account was banned 2 years ago you might get another chance, but that will depend on our private chat which is made possible by putting you in our special 'taking a break' group. I hope this info on our procedures is informative and thanks for being such a good illustration Anyway, the questions have been answered, so I'll close this.
  21. Our Town moderator is dead, but a new Train moderator is born! Nice new tag Brickster! I think you scared some members with your goodbye topic in the TOWN forum
  22. For example, such member could be a previously banned member who made a new account without permission. We have tools to find such stuff out
  23. This set has an enormous playability level. I can imagine kids playing with it for days in a row. Thanks a lot mifody for making this review
