  1. How did you manage to change the colour of my post? Anyway, I said "I figured as much", which means I was 99% sure about the Breakout torso-chestplate compatibility, but I was still a bit suspicious, since none of the 2 sets who used the chestplate made use of the Breakout torso. It was more or less like "they didn't use it, then it's not compatible.” I know, it's a bit of a weird logic, but you never know.@ _shaddow_ Thanks for the photo! That combiner is kind of cool, but the thin legs kill it for me. Also, the torso is too short for such a wide figure- the Fire Lord torso beam would have been better, but there was nothing that could be done about that. @ TheDesuComplex Nah, nothing can beat the KK figures heads.
  2. I wouuldn't mind a deep sea HF theme, actually. 2007 Bionicle was awesome despite all the limitations of the old building system, so imagine the stuff they could come up with the new, ridiculously versatile one. Also, we have a sufficient use of warm colours in HF as it is, so that would be quite the occasion for a heavier use of cool colours- blue, lime, dark lilac, medium azure, hopefully the lovely dark blue too. And, maybe, more transparent pieces. What?! I clicked once! Oh well.
  3. I guess you mean this one: Well, from the combiner model (which looks even more ridiculous than Hulk himself, but may have some cool building techniques) we can see that the huge chestplate+Breakout torso combo is possible. I figured as much, but a confirmation is nice.
  4. I see, thanks a lot then! It's probably the "summer" piece I'm excited the most for, it looks so much more versatile than the (albeit very cool) round shoulder pad piece from the Winter HF sets. Well, they aren't out yet, but I think DV's photos go into abundant detail about the building process.
  5. Great work DV- the photos were great and the capslock was hilarious. You're going to do to the other 2, right? Thanks for the new armour piece shot. The size pleases me.
  6. The sets are posed in the exact way they were in the first leaked pictures we had, in the catalogue which revealed Speeda Demon and on the packaging at Toy Fair. So I guess those poses are going to be the ones featured in the final box art. I looove the Bulk/CH background, by the way- red sky makes every fight epic. Red sky!Makuhero City is probably my favourite battle background this year, actually. I agree on Bulk not having enough silver, personally I'm going to switch the titanium metallic 5M shells with silver ones. On the issue of the 9 Euro heroes quartet- I like the decision from an economic point of view, if all heroes (minus Stormer, I mean) were 13 euro sets it would have been way too expensive. But I do think that the new Breakout torso plate looks better on the 13 Euro heroes, and since I prefer all Heroes to be at roughly the same size, my aim is making Nex and Stringer taller, like I already did with Surge and Evo. It's mostly about changing the leg bones and cladding: the arms length can remain unchanged if you use the Stormer 2.0 lower legs. But enough talking- I'm going to post some Evo and Surge pics later in the day. Should I make another topic? I don't want to flood this one with my stuff.
  7. Maybe it's because he's the sole Winter hero I'm missing, but Furno is really growing on me lately. The white used to bother me, but not so much anymore. The most annoying things actually are those pesky dark bley bones (although I may keep them on Stringer) and the tr. orange shell. Replacing them with black and red respectively creates a surprisingly well thought out colour scheme: red/white armour, neon green eyes and a silver armoured arm. He totally needs something in the back, however. I'm giving him a silver foot for now, but the best thing IMO would really be a silver MTIS like on the show, as it gives the idea of a backpack fairly well. On a side note, yesterday I got my Bricklink order which contained the pieces I was missing to build the Furno Bike. Man, that thing is awesome. Stormer 2.0 is riding it for now, but I want to downsize Stormer XL quite a bit, so he may become thr new rider. Either way, the bike was always meant for Stormer, so I changed some of the red/orange/tr flame orange pieces to blue ones. And since it is built from scratch, many light bley beams from the original set have been replaced by black ones. Overall, it's not a fully faithful replica of the original set, but I like it better this way. I may post some pics later in the day.
  8. Thanks, Caboose. I just wanted to say that the DC figures are finally available on S@H for European countries, priced at 14,99 euro.
  9. That looks really nice, Front. I never was a huge fan of Waspix, but two of them together look cool, and of course the shot is great. Anyway, I noticed something about Speeda Demon- the bike, on the saddle area, has a ball socket that attachs to SD's "crotch ball joint", securely connecting him to the bike. Nothing too mind blowing, but it is something they've never done, so I thought it was worth pointing out.
  10. I posted the same post 5 times? Nothing showed up on my computer. O.o Yeah, using no smiles made your post much more serious than it was, and so I reacted that way. Sorry. I just realized- one more Ultrabuild figure that would be cool to see is Thor. We're in dire need of a new hammer piece- I don't remember ever being one in BIONICLE. And since Batman didn't have one, a new cape would be nice.
  11. What? Did I double post? Or am I posting too often? For the former, sorry, I hadn't noticed. For the latter, I don't think there is a limit to how much you can post, as long it contributes to the discussion. If I want to say something, I will say it. If I misunderstood the meaning of your post, I apologize. As they are, your words sound fairly ambiguous. I agree Iron Man's build is generic, it's just that it looks so nice. Everything flows really well together, and creates an imposing figure. Also, I really like the third attachment to the back, much more than the method used in, say, Breakout Bulk.
  12. Well, don't thank me for that. The first time I heard about that idea was from a post by Aanchir.
  13. Well, I don't know if they're going to do it for future sets, but I'm planning to mod all the Heroes to fit those sizes (yes, even the 9 Euro Heroes- I already upsized Surge and Evo and I'm doing the same to Stringer and Nex). I already made the leg replacement to Surge and Evo themselves, and I tried doing it to Rocka and Breez (don't have Furno yet)- they look great. It's just 1 module, but the change is amazing. I am definitely going to buy some of those bones off Bricklink. The Ghost Rider movie is coming out this year (or is it already out? I don't know), so I think that a 2013 Ghost Rider set isn't so far fetched. I could see him as a set similar to Speeda Demon- medium sized guy with a bike. The fire effect (minus the skull/head, of course) could be achieved with tr. orange or tr. bright orange (the colour Lego seems to really like to use for flame pieces, recently) pieces.

  18. Hero Recon Team being no longer buyable makes me a bit sad, but the new version of the program could prove to be really fun. The current version, for fairly obvious reasons, allows for limited possibilities (for example, all Heroes having wide torsos, long lower arms and Stormer 2.0/Rocka 3.0 lower legs). With the "buy an IRL model" option removed, I hope they make more frames/bones choices available: choosing between wide/narrow torsos, "standard" lower legs/long lower legs, long lower arms/shorter lower arms (as seen in Surge, Evo, Stormer in their 2.0 forms and Stringer 3.0's right arm, along all 9 Euro Breakout Heroes). And of course, the option to choose between building a 9 Euro Hero or a 13 Euro one (although, well, that still depends on bone choices). I know there's LDD for this stuff, but Hero Recon Team's building system is so simple, intuitive and fun. It just needs a higher customizability.
  19. I overlooked the part of Front's post where he said that the Hulk chestplate attaches to the 2 outer ball joints of a wide torso. I thought it attached to the inner ones (like Drilldozer's armour), silly me- then I looked at DV's back shot of Hulk and I realized the truth. The chestplate is much larger than I thought.
  20. TThe secret behind Iron Man (and the others, save Hulk) aren't the upper legs: the friction cups are attached to the short forelegs, so the upper legs end up being about as long as the 13 Euro Hero Factory sets. What makes Iron Man and the other 4 so well proportioned looking are the lower legs, which aren't the ones with two holes from those HF sets but the ones with one hole- in other words, Stormer 2.0's lower legs. And this is one of the points in which the Ultrabuild heroes beat HF: the legs look much better that way, IMO. I know I wasn't the first one who realized this, by the way.Hulk doesn't even have recoloured parts, aside from the hand pieces. The lime bones debuted in Breakout Surge, and the lime 5M shells debuted in Scorpio last year. All the other nice stuff can be bought over Pick a Brick for more reasonable prices. Aside from the new chestplate and the recoloured paws/hands, I agree, he's just not worth it. I hope they make more Ultrabuild sets, too. Ghost Rider would rock (and if they made his bike, too...oh my).
  21. Whoa MakutaNocturn, please calm down a bit. I loved the video, and I admit it made me nostalgic. But I love Hero Factory too, and I haven't been so interested in a constraction line since 2007. So I'm going to look at the future with optimism, while not denying my love for BIONICLE. I like how they completely ignored 2009 and 2010.
  22. I'm liking Iron Man way more than I should. He's just so....bulky. Breakout Bulk is cool, but I wonder how he would look like with some of Iron Man's building techniques.
  23. Very nice! I wonder if you could make some size comparision photos, like comparing the new shin armour with the rounded shoulder armour from the Winter sets and comparing the Hulk chest armour to..I don't know actually- maybe the Drilldozer chestplate? I'm really curious to get an idea of the sizes of the pieces. Even if you cannot, thanks a lot for all the awesome pictures you're posting.
  24. Thank you for the photos! Captain America looks suprisingly good, all the cladding choices work really well together. Ironman looks great, as well. Both look bulky and well proportioned. One note about the legs: I know the DC figures use the same design, but I have to say that the Stormer 2.0 lower legs work so much better than the longer bones of the 13 Euro Heroes+Splitface. The cladding just looks better that way, as it covers the leg more and makes the figure look less spindly. Overall, both look wonderful and- I dare to say (and I could say the same thing about Green Lantern)- some of the building techniques and bone choices surpass those of the Hero Factory medium sized sets this year. And as you said, the Hulk is indeed terrible. What a wasted design. By the way, is he using a large torso piece (like the one in Black Phantom and other larger sets)? Looking at that and all the various bones, it seems he is a decent parts pack at the very least. Still, I doubt I'll buy him.
  25. Hey guys, speaking of summer sets- check this page: it seems it has official descriptions for the new sets (excpet Nex and xt4, for some reason)! It's not much since Chols gave us the info back on February, but I think it's nice so read some descriptions with "flavour" ("RED ALERT!" "Cuff him or he could disable all the heroes and bring chaos to the galaxy!" And so on). I apologize if it's old news.
