  1. I figured this as the 'chiukeung's first post was also blantently false, was I the only one that picked up on this?
  2. Why Minas Tirith is the beautiful white castle at the foot of the Ered Nimrais range and capital of the mighty nation of Gondor. Google is beautiful thing, you know. ;-)
  3. I wish everyone a joyous new year! (That is if you follow the corrupt Gregorian Calendar) - Nathan, who just recenty arrived home from NYC to avoid the Times Square celebration (It's really overrated, I must say)
  4. Ah, some images from Mr. Brickster's childhood depicting his quaint little hobby, how touching! I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind; A. Does she have an interior? B. If so do the figures fit? C. Do you remember how much she cost? D. You do like Lego better than Playmobil, right? Right? 8-| E. Just out of sheer curiosity, have you ever created any Play Mobil MOCs?
  5. Hmmmmm........... It appears you are right. Recently it was expanded to handle one third of the manufacturing, the rest is all done in Mexico. Yet I hear it is very difficult to get sets in Mexico. (This fellow named Gusmoore whines alot about how he needs to construct his own makeshift KK sets) I wonder why the skeletons in the prototype set have the current skull head.
  6. Although I haven't gotten the official Phes confirmation yet it looks like I'll start to compile all the ships in the forum and make an index. :) Yes, I know, but he/she wanted a frigate, and he/she rebuilt an improved frigate one when he/she was done with the first. Will do.
  7. Thanks to Jindroush for some more great news! Front Page worthy I'd say. I'm so happy about the revival of the old armor and weapons but I'm not so sure about those bichrome BURPs. I wonder why all the castle news is coming from The Czech Republic. S@H doesn't even ship there. 8-|
  8. Well I tried to make it close to the Lego hook where the base isn't much wider than the actual hook itself otherwise it would break easily. The Lego hook's curve also slightly changes direction at the bottom end and I tried to copy this, but now I see the curve is so slight that I should just ignore it. Because the size I need it to be is right between the size of one pixel. Now I've made a hook a little closer to a real hook. But is there a way to make a transparent .gif in any Microsoft program, as I do not own Adobe Photoshop or anything else fancy.
  9. I agree completely! I'll take 4+ over Mega Bloks or Play Mobil any day! I don't care about the playing capabilities of Lego, I care about the MOCing and moding capabilities; of which Mega Bloks and Play Mobil have slim to none! Rebbeard's ship has some OK stuff; a lime parrot, some more Viking masts, a big map, a scimitar, some red fences, If you just rid of the hideous stern piece, add some more detail mostly around there but some other places to, and rid of the maxithings; you get a pretty good ship, made of of great plastic, and there is many moding possibilities using the same peices of your already favorite toy brand.
  10. Oh good. Just PM your request; size, color etc. Yes. 'No' he wasn't willing, 'No' he doesn't acknowlege, or 'No' he doesn't appreciate? Here in the states people are not 'honoured to he selected' but 'honored to be selected'. X-D Egad! Mr. Phes has got the plaque too? Does it be a red one er a yeller one? I'ze been conjested like hell ever since de Noel! Me left eye gets all watery too.
  11. Maybe a pirate ship shaped star fighter..... X-D I am curius to the number of pieces in the hull and masts... Yes, lately Mega Bloks has become less of a building toy and more of a play set toy... The more recent 'Dragons', 'Pyrates' and Marvel Lines are just as hideous. Although a couple years ago they had these 'Probuilder' sets, the Mega Bloks equivilent of UCS, which had fairly good designs with a good amount of basic bricks.
  12. Huba Wabu Heka Gaja? That's got to some type of ancient Indigo Islander ritual shine of 'Dark Magic', right? :-D Well my story isn't about Pirate Lego and many others' might not be either so I am not so sure about this thread's existence in the pirate forum. Anyways, years ago there used to be a surprisingly nice bargain store here in the US called Odd Job and it is now unfortunately out of business. In the US Lego is only found in high-end toy stores; no 'toy isle' in any CVS or supermarket or any bookstores. But one day an Odd Job I visited miraculously had maybe two different kinds Belleville sets, a couple Explosion Studios and A LOT of these little Shell promotional things. I bought an 'Explosion Studio' which has an MSRP of $35 for about $7, and my brother bought two small but nice Shell promotional sets for about $1. One of them was definitely this one; http://peeron.com/inv/sets/2538-1?showpic=2099 The other might have been this one; http://peeron.com/inv/sets/2536-1?showpic=2291 I'm still happy with what we got but If I was little smarter I would have bought a bunch more of those $1 ones like these; http://peeron.com/inv/sets/2541-1?showpic=2316 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/2542-1?showpic=2317 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/2539-1?showpic=2098 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/2537-1 Although I might have just had to have asked my dad for a lone, as I think I was only five or six years old at the time and I just might have spent a lot of my money paying for that Lego Studios set. :-$ Oh, and there once was a nice Spiderman set "The Origins" (Ooo, those happy/scared faces (I still need some of those!!)) in good condition in a Buy-it-now auction from a good seller for $10. An hour later it was gone. Should have bought it.
  13. Well said, what a good first post. *y* I forgot to mention, I am normaly against minifig customization but that bat-lord helmet is so stupid if I had one I would cut off the wings and use it as a great looking and historically accurate Viking helmet!
  14. Nice topic, Mr. Syedow! Although for me I like no pole as I have several favorites. Since I have nothing else better to do right now, here's my full-fletched analysis; Flared Helmet - I like it; fairly simple, nice looking, very realistic. *sweet* "Non"-Flared Helmet - Probably just as realistic as the flared helmet but I like the look of the flared one a little bit better for no logical reason. :-) Grilled Helmet - I don't like this one very much. I like the more recent two piece one, as this one cannot slide and from what I can tell the 'openings' are too big. |-/ Crown - I love the chromey goodness! It's the only cranial attire fit for a king, so it's good for me! ;-) Dragon Master's Helmet - I didn't like this Medieval line itself but these helmets are good for ancient Greeks or Romans or for elaborate elven-esque helmets like from LOTR. Although I hate it with all the plumes in it. :-) Samurai Helmet - Looks good on Samurais! *y* "Bat" Helmet - Ugh, so stupid. It's OK for a few LOTR Orcs but that's it. :-| Kettle Helmet - Nice. It looks good on a crossbow soldier, the use originally intended but it also looks nice as a Roman Gladiator. *sweet* "Scorpion" Helmet - I like it, especially in the nice speckled metal color. *y* Viking Helmet - It's satisfactory for Vikings as few people criticize it's historical innacuracy, but I have trouble using it for anything else as I hate the look of the empty holes. *sad* (Although I love the horns by themselves in MOCs) Edit; Now that you have the pole up, I decided to vote for the flared helmet after much hesitation.
  15. You have very nice writing skills for a 10 (Ooo, you even spelled out t-e-n, impressive) year old and as long as you behave, it's all good. ;-) (I'm not that old either) So, Welcome. As for my hobby, my younger brother (also 10) is obsessed and my parents think it's interesting. As for my friends, some think it's dumb and childish, some don't care and yet others think it's fun and neat.
  16. Assuming that was a serious response, Lego does sometimes use them as yards now but that technique wasn't introduced until 11 years after the making of the piece. They probably had no plans for it other than "minifig utensil" in the first place so why did they make it so long in 1991? And in that case I'm sure they could have used some other alternative for the Ewok glider in 2002 and then that viking dragon in 2005.
  17. Willy, do you have a least favorite minifigure?
  18. I think we should give credit to the builders in the thread so we can differentiate say Stephen Rowe's ships from Mathew1980's and compare the two different building styles. I could arrange them in rows for each builder but I couldn't use as many as five if I wanted to include the names. This is kind of like a larger "Popular Mocs" section of thePirate Lego directory to fit with our ever growing larger pirate community.

Many letters is ok it's just the long strands of consecutive repeated leters that he might want to stop. I think we scared away Mr. Tole in his Avatar and signature thread. :-/
  20. No, but why do ask? It's OK if you like it, I'll be glad to make some arrangements to get you one, just PM me. And I don't attend church so I don't know why I'd need a 'Sunday Best outfit' in the first place..... Heh heh. Does Mr. Thing fancy the sweater (jumper) and was he willing to endure his private photo shoot? Does he now acknowledge and appreciate the fact that his face is posted on the World Wide Web? Well well, I look forward to seeing some more MOCs from The Great Mister Phes, are they centered around those islanders who don't get enough attention? If so have you PMed and E-mailed Brick Miner yet?
  21. OK, my original ships are refined to the furthest text-pretaining extent. If I add thumb nails most other 1st page posts will problably be bumped to the second page. Now shall I begin to compile all other ship MOCs too?
  22. This library will also problably be usefull to check if a ship you want to post has already been posted. So I think this a fairly good idea. I'll go continue to work on my intial post and await Phes' opinion.
  23. Yeah take care of that thing as J1A3L5 warns Although mine seems like it has a good level of durability too. *y*
  24. Scary isn't it? You're just better off buying the whole Cloud City set, which is going for at most 600 dollars.
  25. I wasn't being serious, thus the :-P (well more or less) as my post icon. He asked me a dumb question; I gave him a dumb answer. I also acknowledge that Tiber is younger than me as he just turned thirteen a couple months ago, it is illogical to believe he his vision is deteriorating due to his age. I definitely didn't intend any harm and I'm sorry if I did.
