It would be cool to have somebody buy this set, and re-create the scene below TO SCALE:

I like the camouflage color scheme on your Lego Tiger Tank! Sariel's torsion suspension system (pictured above) is a great way of allowing the tank's wheels to roll over obstacles. When you say that your tank "drives like a wet towel" and you want suggestions on how to make the ride smoother, are you looking for PADS on the Technic Links? Mortymore had some ideas about adding rubber bands through the holes of the Technic Tread parts: Note that the BLACK Lego Technic Treads (which you have used) do not form as tight a circle as the older, Light Bluish Grey treads. See this TechnicBRICKS article.

@ Zblj: Would you be willing to post the LDD .lxf file of your Planetary Gear assembly, like you did with your other excellent creations (like the Lynx)? -
Black Dragon supercar
DLuders replied to jovel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
On Flickr, Jovel/ jovlem recently added WINDOWS to his Black Dragon: "In the front it has an V8 engine which is under the hood that can be opened. For easier playability I added a hand of god ( HOG ) steering wheel. The steering wheel in the cabin works as well. The scissor door are powered by damped shocks, which will be activated after a little push. It also features a convertible rooftop, which can be operated at the back of the car. With the roof down, it's very easy to acces the 5+R gearbox." -
As pointed out by Plastic Nurak, one can read Anio's 8110 Review on SeTechnic (in French and English). Although Anio said this set is "not perfect", it is a great platform on which to add your pneumatic attachments and other modifications. TLG is striking a balance between cost, complexity, and accuracy to the real Mercedes Unimog. The AFOL community has been clamoring for years for a truly massive, complex set like this -- kudos to TLG! [NOTE: You can translate the original French review by copying pasting that webpage's URL into Google Translate, and translating the text into your own language]. From Tito Nobre's Flickr photoset, one can see the GREAT VARIETY of parts:

The 8258 (not "8256") Crane Truck (from 2009) is considered to be one of the most advanced Power Functions sets. The 8285 Tow Truck (released in 2006) is considered to be one of the finest "Model Team"-type sets. With the high demand (and prices) for the 8285 Tow Truck, I agree that it is the "more desirable" set.

I Need Color Help!
DLuders replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I opened your LDD .lxf file, and saw your green accents between the windows. Those highlights are good, but the green band around the center of your curved building looks a bit odd. Green building colors against a grey city landscape (or a blue sky) don't look that good. Recommend a beige building with Bluish-Grey or Light Blue accents, like these have: -
The Building Instructions for "Ole Kirk's House" may be available from Brickshelf user "Barman", since he posted several pictures of the model on his Brickshelf gallery. You could e-mail him using the e-mail address visible on this Brickshelf webpage. Brickipedia says "Only 32 hand-numbered copies of this custom model were created by the LEGO Group."

controlling old motors with IR
DLuders replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is no Lego Mindstorms RCX IR receiver other than the IR Tower (shown below) that is used to transmit programming signals from your computer to the RCX brick. The 2x4 pieces are sensors wired into the RCX brick: However, there is an 9738 RCX Remote Control that can operate your RCX brick remotely. All of the buttons you see on the RCX Brick have been duplicated on the Remote Control. They are available from this Bricklink webpage, and are no longer available from the Lego Education Store. My son and I used the RCX Remote Control years ago for Lego "Battlebots" -- it works well (as long as the "receiver" part of the RCX brick is facing the Remote Controller). -

WIP: City Section 3

This is great! Do you have any of your buildings built with real bricks for this weekend's BrickWorld near Chicago? -
One could consider the design of the 8207 Dune Duster/ Hawaiian Beach Racer set, and modify it to make it more narrow. Some of the steering parts used in that set could be used in an 8-studs-wide Lego car having tight wheel wells. Specifically, the 4261 "Technic Steering Arm" is key; the pivot point is centered on the wheel. In the 8207 Building Instruction picture below, the black 8L 2792 "Technic, Steering Rack Top" needs to be replaced with a shorter Technic Plate, such as the yellow 4263 "Technic, Plate 1 x 4 with Toothed Ends" or the yellow 2711 "Technic, Plate 1 x 5 with Toothed Ends, 2 Studs and Center Axle Hole". The "arm" part of the 4261 "Technic Steering Arm" is moved laterally by a 8z (8-toothed) Technic Gear rolling along a grey Technic Rack mounted on a thin Technic Plate. This is illustrated in the colorful picture below from Blakbird's Technicopedia. Replace the blue Plate with a Technic Plate, that allows for a 3749 "Technic, Axle Pin without Friction Ridges Lengthwise" to connect into the 4261 "Technic Steering Arm".

Computerized Portal Turret
DLuders replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@ dunamis: From the National Instruments (NI) website, it says "The LEGO Education WeDo platform, powered by LabVIEW, redefines classroom robotics, making it possible for primary school students ages 7 to 11 to build and program their own solutions. LEGO Education WeDo provides a hands-on learning experience that actively engages children’s creative thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The WeDo environment is programmed with simple, drag-and-drop software created in LabVIEW!" -

harkirat8828 posted this of his Lego Technic T1 Tank. He wrote,"Here is my remote-controlled motorized tank. I have named it T1 in the expectation that features will be added (time permitting). All parts were cannibalised from other Lego sets, bought directly from Lego (motors, power pack, IR receivers and remote control) or bought from bricklink.com. This tank is controlled by two Lego [8879] IR speed controllers and powered by 4 motors and 1 power pack. "Some of the features are: Turret can traverse at variable speeds in either direction Gun elevation or depression is possible at variable speeds Tracks can rotate in either direction at variable speeds, allowing tank to be rotated on the spot. "Tank is supported by fully independent Suspension. Enjoy the video."

Sariel has built 100 Lego Technic MOCs and has had 5,000,000 video views! Read about it on his website. Congratulations, Paul! Here is a synopsis of his creations over the years (click to enlarge):
