Well, understandable. CC and GG are all-time LEGO greats (not just city/town) though, not just this decade, and not just in the city/town line. If we were to exclude modulars, I can't give it to anything else other than the City Corner. First 5 years of Town is probably unanimously regarded as crap, so that narrows it down a bit. The bus is a rarity in LEGO sets, but it's damn well executed in 6-wide. It's like a 3-sets in-1 deal, with the Pizza place and the skateboard shop. All of which are outstanding, and well, classic.

thanks again for more comments Yep, that's how the stock house does it. I prefer it opening from the inside though And yeah, this set is just awesomesauce for basic bricks for buildings and the price/piece ratio is just wonderful.

I think it's an 8-wide that is much more proportioned alongside current CITY 6-wide trucks than the CITY 8-wide trucks (because those are just hueg). I like it. The black wheels make it more... heavy duty-like, I guess

Yeah, I'd like some motels too. And I didn't even notice the City house, but I'm hoping that you're right about it not being a suburban style house and more like an open-backed Market Street styled house

Thanks, thanks, thanks for all the comments! Everyone seems to like the spacious interior. Once I fully furnish this house though, it probably won't look too roomy as the comments here suggest When that is, I don't know. I don't have a big brickventory and I haven't done bricklink before (plus, many stores are stingy when it comes to ordering many small-amount lots) The kitchen IMO is going to be quite the challenge. I have to fit it in that 6x7 space in the back right of the house opposite of the stairs (though I can make it extend out of that 6x7 space if I wanted; my parents' door to the garage is in the kitchen) Now that I think of it a bathroom, I think, is near-hopeless. I can try to put it in the 2nd floor back module, but I need more roof windows and try to make it more accessible, which could be a challenge. I can try to make a beach-house style roof where it opens to access the bathroom, but right now I'm not even seriously considering the bathroom. Yep, being 36 studs wide it commands quite the attention, even when put next to my CC and GG. Good thing is that I won't put this one next to those downtown pieces. I already have a 16x32 green ready for this, but for the life of me I cannot find my 16x16 green that I stashed away since my LEGO child days. Once I find it I can put the original 6754 patio with the picnic table, or the beach house table with an umbrella, etc.

This is news to me: TRU truck 7848 is going to be the same as the yellow 3221 truck, says Brickset. Then there's a 8404 "fan choice." what that be?

This would probably be my first real contribution in plastic bricks after my intro post way back then. Having some surplus with my PaB cup rampage in Illinois days ago, 2 Family Home CREATOR sets, plus a few specialized pieces from CREATOR mini jeep (Garage) and Beach House (roof window), I made my own family home. It, of course, started with a 6754 that I modded slowly and constantly that it became a mostly new model, with some 5754 elements. Lower floor front window design is straight out of the stock 6754. Back view. Patio door and chimney are again copies. Patio door opens from the inside now, as opposed to the stock version, where it oddly opens from the outside. What's up with that> Garage door, with a 16 x 8 space inside. Should fit most cars. Door hinges from the CREATOR mini. Interior, 1st floor. Yep it's bare Bedroom Rest of the 2nd floor. Some things: -In the future I plan to fully tile the finish the interior, I think there's room for a kitchen, dinner table, sofa sets, bedroom and even a bathroom. -Once I get a hold of more baseplates, I'll make a backyard. Bonus pics: Smug, 6-figure guy with a limited edition 8402 (hint: slightly modded also) and his stylish wife meets their college student daughter! Comments? Suggestions? Thanks!

I'm a skyscraper and architecture fan, but I don't want to major in that area. Plus, I wanted to be a tyrant mayor without having to deal with real-life politics. So, LEGO will do for me.

Cafe Corner and Green Grocer... Although I prefer GG slightly one cannot deny CC's status as revolutionary and changed the way people MOC. GG changed the way people make interior designs in the MOC. No contest, really.

LEGO trains have always been expensive since forever. Actually, scratch that, LEGO in general has always been on the expensive side. Why is this suddenly a debate?
-
Not a fan of the colors. Quite frankly, the color combination of dark blue with white and grey walls and a red stripe... strikes it as a bit too odd, even when compared to other CREATOR houses (the $70 USD house is just about perfect color-wise). It's also quite a bit tight inside, that even the Beach House (smallest creator house) just feels 'bigger' inside. Of course, I'm counting on the fact that this one has a garage, making the 'livable' space feels a bit cramped to me. Also the price/piece. Too high, considering it has about the same piece count as the Beach House but at 50% the price (Target sells the Beach House for $29) The only real win in this set are the accessories: The lawn mower, b-ball court, the garage even. Other than that, this set looks rather average

Well, true. That doesn't mean the possibility of a diner in a possible truck stop is zero. We still don't know what the TRU Exclusive is, let alone what it would include. I just wouldn't rule out AFOL-friendly structures (as in, a building NOT fire or police or rescue) on a future exclusive.
-
I don't know. If that's such a foregone conclusion they why do we "adults" even hope around for a new "CITY" set when all we'd get is just fire, police and trucks regardless? Because, those are the only things LEGO kid fans, want, right? My opinion? Kids, in general, like all that fire/police/big truck vehicle stuff first and foremost, but that doesn't mean they don't like civilian sets either. Surely the City Corner and camper sets and the like aren't flying off the shelves because of AFOLs and AFOLs alone? The best thing about LEGO bricks is that I can just build the damn things myself if there are no official sets that I would like to appear :skull:

If Truck Stop comes to fruition I doubt it will be just 2 hueg trailers and a big gas station---it might include a diner. ...Or at least I hope it includes a diner

I am so, so, sooooo.... Loving that Yellow Truck. I have the 4-wide (actually its 6 but you get the point) cab from 5-ish years ago, and this looks like an awesome 6-wide conversion. I usually stayed away from long trucks like that (police, wind turbine, heli-transport) because even though cool looking, may be far too big to move around in a tight downtown setting. I might make an exception for this one, though (and the tanker). As for the trains... they're alright. They would probably never match the greatness of the 90s train sets, but they're still pretty good.

Fail sarcasm is fail. Do you really have a glutton for a flame war or something? Whatever the promo pics brought to life isn't 100% true to the image, like the Pizza place being a 'Cafe', the sky blue town hall which turned out to be dark green, the tanker which had a more prominent green underside. Looks like the green taxis in the pics turn out to be yellow as well.
-
In my post I referred to the old TRU exclusive poll, which had... a red elevated train.
-
If I remember correctly a TRU Exclusive doesn't exactly mean LEGO Exclusive - a la Town Plan/Winter Toy Shop. The Green Cargo Plane, for example, is a TRU exclusive, being that no other stores (apart from LEGO themselves) sell these. I still believe that the City Square is least likely considering there are blatant Town Plan/City Corner buildings and structures that is/was already released in some other form. Two trucks in the truck stop option may be the tank truck released alongside the airport sets and the yellow rig might be the December set, but there's still 2 other trucks in that promo pic, which may very well be included in a theoretical truck stop set. Looks like the red elevated train from the public transport promo pic may already be coming to life on the new surfacing images. And that's my neutral opinion, because even if I prefer public transport just because I prefer it, any of the three will probably be something epic and I'll get my hands on them nonetheless. And offtopic, TRU just got a batch of 3179 trucks, and I'm loving it! Won't open until Christmas, though :D
-
Considering the City Square option is already mostly realized with the exclusive Town Plan and the City Corner (almost), I think that's the least possibility. With that sweet yellow USA-style 18-wheeler (or 10-wheeler, really) I image Truck Stop is the most likely possibility for a TRU exclusive. I'm hoping for the Public Transportation option though.

If I had to guess they arrive by a big fire truck

Funny, it rang up on a Toys R Us cashier as $7 when I bought a couple. Of course, I argue that the tag in the shelf says they're $5 a pop, so that's that. But since my TRU recently upped the Camper's MSRP $17 to $20, I have no doubts that this one won't sit in TRU for $5 too long. By the way, this is one of those sets that you just *need* if you plan to build a town setting. A very nice filler. Sure, price/part ratio is not so up there, but once you get something like a Green Grocer, Cafe Corner and even City Corner plus a bunch of vehicles, what's a $5 smart car? It's small. Yes, very small... my red sports car and police cars dwarf it. But, the Smart car is extremely minuscule in real life anyways, so it looks just fine parallel-parked next to the Green grocer or something.

Nice, you've got a Little Tokyo going on. I love the way you did the small waterfalls. We get a bath house going next?

That truck is a monstrosity. The 4-wide windshield plus the 4 wide roof makes it look like some two headed weirdie. Oh, and it's also too big. With the boat it carries it's actually a 10-wide frame. LEGO shouldn't even bother with 8-wide frames unless it's one of those mega-construction vehicles. I think however, someone could very well make a 6-wide copy and it would look good.

Review: 30008 Snowman & 30009 Christmas Tree
wooootles replied to Oky's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have 6 of the snowmen and 5 of the tree. I wanted to stock up on the parts offering and I did. -
Nice, thanks. I just hope I get to stop by that mall! :skull:
