I wouldn't say that it's as good as 1/5th the price of BL, but it is better. Lately I've been active on eBay again and have got some pirate sets for a cheap price. *pirate*
-
It could take months if it was coming by surface instead of airmail. And there's a chance it could be stopped by customs sometime during the trip, especially if it's a large box. How many different stores did you buy from, and which one is the biggest order coming from?
-
Just a little FYI: according to the Ultimate LEGO Book, this guy on the small island http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1395713 was added "recently" while the other models have been around longer.
-
I have a feeling the prices weren't very cheap, not to mention the overseas shipping. It will take some time, but usually you can find these sets cheaper on eBay...

That's a nice ship, ghoulrealm. All the "greebled" detailing is unusual for a pirate ship, but in a good way. One little thing for everyone else: When you're going to post spoilers for POTC 3, please give a warning. |-/ Trying to stay spoiler-free over here...

Which Official Pirate LEGO Sets Do You Have?
Governor Broadside replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
But there are not any privately owned shops that might carry a set for up to 18 years, at least not in the western US. I know of a person in Spain who has gotten a lot of MISB sets 20 years old from such shops. And the original pirate sets kind of came out before my time, and I wasn't bought many of them either. Tough luck for me. :-/ Anyway, I suppose I'll post my collection soon. -
What I really like are the rooms like the mess hall and sleeping quarters; makes it more realistic. *pirate*

Which Official Pirate LEGO Sets Do You Have?

That's why I don't even feel like listing any of my collection... :'-( X-D In this respect, Europeans are lucky. |-/ -
Actually I resize my images with the image editing program I use: PhotoSuite II. It doesn't update pictures in batches, but I only work on one pic at a time.
-
This is coming along great! *sweet* Are the two different models shown in the second pic different ideas you have for building your fort? In the last pic, looks like there should be a black 4 x 6 or 4 x 8 plate in that one corner of the walkways (docks?) closest to the viewer.
-
Although I use another program to resize images, this is a great tutorial. *sweet* *y* Nice work.

Some browsers, at least Firefox, sometimes display a thread incorrectly like the error that some of you see (I see it too, and am using FF). I've only got King Kahuka and Crocodile Cage, besides Pirates Treasure Chest. 8-| I think King Kahuka's Throne is pretty good.
-
I thought these parts were cool Today I don't know if I would say the design is very good, but it is good for play value. The minfigs assortment is good too: King Kahuka, a "Capt'n Hook", and a regular islander and pirate.
-
A submodel is basically two or more parts that a builder groups together that is placed in the larger model. I've never learned how to use submodels, especially since BrikTrak isn't able to include parts in a submodel to the list of parts for the entire model. |-/

How about a black frame with brown panes? It might turn out too dark, but it seems good to me.
-
You're making me seriously regret selling this baseplate on BL. :'-( The design with those windows is great; I like all the yellow on the building.
-
Well, there's a Pirate flag at the top; I thought this island was the pirates'. Why don't Islanders have their own flag? :-D
-
Not exactly Islander, maybe not even half, but I like 1788 a lot The island has a lot of playability and interesing parts.
-
Could you make up a list of parts, maybe instructions too if you think you can, of this treasure chest set?
-
What? No cropping the wasted space at the left of the picture too? :-D It looks like it shouldn't be hard to make the mast more solid with a Technic axle, maybe 10 long. But you'll have to make the plates directly underneath the black mast Technic plates with holes. I like the rear facing cannon. *pirate*
-
That's amazing. X-O I can't wait to see it completed.

Torso with and without crossbelt
Governor Broadside replied to Governor Broadside's topic in LEGO Pirates
BL does give credits for all images. I remember this is the person who submitted the image with this torso http://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=swrlego He can be contacted on that page. -
It's so strange (at least to me) that old sets like these are still available in some store. You're from Europe, jamtf, right? Here on the west coast of the US I'd never expect to see sets more than a couple years old... BTW, is there any kind of set number for that value pack at the lower right corner in the third pic?
-
gylman, did you buy parts to make your own, or do you have an official copy?
