Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Jared replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
You tell me, you're the duke of decisions around here ;) I won't count it as a spoiler, but it WAS something I was trying to avoid, as well as a few other spoilers that the trailer "ruined" (ok, maybe it's my own fault for watching it, but still!) -
I hate to be a debbie downer here, but I highly doubt they'll do avatar. There's no show airing to accompany it, and it's been a number of years since the theme was retired. I know there's korra, but I don't think it's popular enough among kids to warrant a theme. I know people are going to say "but Doctor Who is becoming a theme!", however, Doctor Who is a kid's show that, as blondie-wan said over on the licensed forum, is still currently on air an will probably continue going for the foreseeable future, making it a safe investment for lego. Pirates and City will probably be added, I'm sure. there's no way LEGO would pass up on it! ;D

You didn't?! Then who did?!? Noooooo! Please don't say that!

No worries, I've had a few other things spoiled for me, but nothing too big. I'm going into this episode with almost no prior knowledge, so I can't wait for Saturday!! -
This is my reasoning too, but as SCI said, usually Tuesdays are reveal days and there's been no reveal.... fingers crossed it's later this week, and will be pleasantly surprised if I get to wake up Saturday morning to the reveal.... of the set, I mean, but just as importantly of the series premiere!!
-
You're not alone in your hope. That would be so incredibly awesome. It seems like it could be a very real possibility, especially with the release of lego dimensions and the recent popularity of doctor who world-wide... Well put blondie-wan, though everything you have to say usually is ;) It would be awesome to get a range of doctors so young fans can pick their "favourites" from the new era (since the main demographic will logically be children) and fans can have 'em all!

Gaaah, I've been trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible! Oh well.... That would be nice. I feel like if Mr. Moffat tried to explain it it would just end up being more confusing! XD Countdown = 5 days... -
I have school :( GASP!! I nearly had a heart-attack when I saw Jenna, Peter and Michelle flickr across (every doctor ever whoot!)
-
I would-they usually rarely do Saturday releases, but I guess it could happen since it IS Doctor Who we're talking about, the very thing that makes Saturdays so special ^_^ I guess I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a ngging feeling in me saying you're right. I hate to say this j2g, but although you're always right, I'm really hoping you'll be wrong on this one... Fingers crossed, fingers crossed...

Karn is a cool planet... I think... ;) Nice idea, I may do the same if I don't have much work for the weekend! -
Haha, nice. Very much worth it. Sept. 27th can't come soon enough! I want my lego portal already!!

The fan in me wants them to do EVERYTHING, and by 'everything' I mean EVERYTHING. Realistically though, I'm sure each level would probably be the initial/final story for each Doctor, like the level for the 4th Doctor would be 'Robot', and you get each Doctor after completing a level and doing it on freeplay will allow you to unlock and purchase each doctor in their regenerated state (with the previous doctor's outfit on). Although I think with having a modern audience you'd want to go for more of what Nexus said, where most of the stories are modern doctor-centric with the classics as unlockables. I'm sure that like Dimensions, they'd go the lego batman direction and just make their own levels drawing from the source material rather than sticking to rigidly defined plots. Besides, I like that in a game, where they encourage you more to explore and have fun rather than objectively complete a task. Definitely the first part, much like the bat cave in lego batman. Though considering how expansive they made the central locations in Marvel superheroes, they're definitely going to need to build a bunch of rooms, like the clothes room, the engine room, the library (with the swimming pool!), the Doctor's private studies, etc. Seems most likely, yeah. That is brilliant, and would be insanely awesome and very much appreciated!

That con didn't happen to be "fan expo" did it? I was there too and played the demonstration. Such a great game. I went thursday evening, but there were still lines. The lady that was there demoing was super nice and let me play around, as I showed her my Doctor Who lego stuff (doesn't hurt to mention when bbc america tweets you ^_^) so she could tell I was a massive fan and was super excited, though considering the screaming and jumping with excitement, it wasn't hard to tell. Still, the people behind me had children and were pretty ticked at my childish antics, and it made me really sad. I get this is a kid's toy and it's for kids, and they have every right to be mad about a grown man hogging a little kid's game, but I have wanted lego doctor who so badly... :(

New trailer for "The Magician's Apprentice"! (sorry, not sure how to embed videos) *Edit: got it! -
Well, 6 days until the new series starts.... any guesses/thoughts as to when the reveal will be? I'm going to say either Tuesday 10am or Friday...
-
Yes, yes, YES! Thinking about POTC and how they went with sets that included some interesting range of minifigures, it's possible they may do "End of Time" since they include the main figs.... but, on the other hand, "Journey's End" has more available characters and interesting location sets like the tardis or dalek ship (MAYBE WE'LL GET A LEGO DAVROS?!?! :o )

Nice, I like your thinking Dyntar! Especially the 5th and 6th playset, and the 7th and 8th ^_^ My only one to add to that would be a "companions" set where you get maybe the tenth doctor and all his companions piloting the tardis like in "Journey's End", or even some kind of special "anniversary" set with the 8th Doctor and The War Doctor (Sir John Hurt) and maybe the sisters of Karn or something. Now THAT would be out of this world.... literally.

Welcome the New Licensed Regulator: Captain Nemo
Jared replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Licensed
We all knew this day would come. A salutations to the good cap'n. ;D -
Hahaha, no worries, same thing happened to me when I first saw the trailer. I was like "Wait, where's the spiky hair?"
-
It's based on his appearance from season 2 as well as the 50th. His hair wasn't always spiky, back when he first started, it was actually flat. This isn't the best pic, but you can google "doctor who david tennant season 2" and you'll see.... or, you can, you know, do the more logical thing and watch series 2 (of the revived series) all over again ;) I sincerely hope that if they do make the 10th Doctor, they'll use the spiky hair rather than flat hair!
-
19th in UK, America and whatever other place, and I assume a little later for others countries as someone on this thread was saying...
-
Don't. Even. Joke. Seriously. Don't even. *quietly hopes that LEGO officials are reading this eurobricks thread* ;)
-

Well, I certainly feel a little bit better. Nonetheless, as long as we all get to enjoy the fun that is Doctor Who! :D The more we can get the better. Still, really want an 8th Doctor....
-
