+10000000000 Aside from the rather "long" response, this just about sums it up. Just because you may not be amazing at first, doesn't mean you don't. It's just a hobby, so relax and build away. In terms of tips and tricks, just watch what other people do. Look at other builds, try to deconstruct other people's techniques, and ask them if you can't figure it out. I guarantee 90% of the time the person will be willing to give you their secret. Remember, some people start out amazing, others take a while to bloom. I took 3 years to get to my current mocing abilities, and even then, it's not very good. I've got a looooong way to go!

Help me improve a school Lego collection!
Jared replied to ficbot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Your plan is amazing, and I wish I had something of strategic value to add to it, sadly though I don't. Perhaps when shopping aim to buy a couple of those new CLASSIC kits? That would probably be to everyone's benefit rather than have a bunch of 6-year-olds fighting over Laval or Batman or someone. -
What should or should not be on Lego Ideas?
Jared replied to Wodanis's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's true, but simultaneously the same things could easily have been applied to BTTF and Ghostbusters and if so we would've never gotten those sets. So I guess you just have to take the "good" with the "bad", though personally I don't think most mocs on there are "bad" or "create clutter", though I will admit there are mocs on there that... probably don't need to be there... -

Oh wow, that would be hilarious! -
Honestly, this is the perfect time and ideal situation to start introducing the idea of building his own stuff. Show him that just because it falls apart, doesn't mean he has to get frustrated. ^_^ Instead, show him that he can just take the whole thing apart and build something totally new out of it :D

No worries, I feel like that too. Yeah, I'm sure those would work. I know playmobil does stuff like that, but since LEGO doesn't, you may be able to "bend" the system. Well, best of luck with whatever you choose to do in the end.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Jared replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Oh yeah, that guy.... my apologies, I don't mean this in a bad way, but I didn't find Mummy on the Orient Express to be a particularly great episode, and most of the characters were really forgettable. Is Perkins the new villain or something? Like, is he just gonna randomly show up and taunt Doctor Who? -
But... why? So many useful pieces!! As of currently, I am the only fan in my house. In my family, my little cousin and uncle absolutely love LEGO, but my uncle has "Lord Business syndrome", and he doesn't let my little cousin play with all the Star Wars sets they buy and build. They stay on a shelf until they can be put on display for his home theatre when it's finished. I'm trying to show my little cous' how to be creative with the brick, but as with anything, it's taking a long time for the concept to sink in.

I was fortunate enough to have a teacher who always tried to make us do work and learn outside of the classroom. I miss him. He's better than 95% of the teachers I've met to this day. Carpe diem my friend!!!

I bought the special edition Hobbit DVD from there. That was it. Can you believe they never once carried the MARVEL Legends Spiderman figures either? I was so annoyed, since in America that was the main place to get them.

Awesome funnies Dorayaki! Though I'm sure Woody could've just told them that they were all toys!!

Who's Perkins? -
LOL! A friend of mine from my LUG went, the deals were meh. The LEGO movie 2-in-1 vehicles were about 30% off. I think there were one or two other deals worth noting, but they weren't very good.

I think we've had a thread like this before, but it's probably buried way too far down to go dig it up again. Once, and it wasn't really a missing piece, more a mistake in the instructions. The first batch of Exo Force Jungle sets had hit the shelves and my dad had taken me to Toysrus to completely burn through my allowance on one of these bad boys. I got home, and then on page 3 I noticed I was missing a piece. Completely unsatisfied and in complete disbelief that a piece was missing, I spent half an hour yelling and screaming and searching frantically around the living room for the piece that supposedly was "missing". In a final desperate attempt, I shook the box upside down one more time to challenge my disbelief, and sure enough, a piece of thin white paper came shooting out the box and landed on the living room floor. Turns out it was a correction to a slight mistake made in the instructions, and the piece I "thought" I was missing was never even there in the first place! ;D

Best set: MARVEL X-men vs. Sentinel Worst set: 21117: The Ender Dragon Um, last time I checked Dragons were large, scary and ferocious, not deformed versions of Barney the Dinosaurs. Best Minifigure: Toss up between Storm from X-men and Unikitty, and if Unikitty doesn't count, then CMF series 12 Dinotracker Worst Minifigure: Steve the Square-head guy and Leatherhead from TMNT. Should've been brick-built... and NOT like Groot... Best new theme: Mixels or Ultra Agents Worst new theme: Minecraft and The simpsons (but emphasis on Minecraft) Excited about for 2015: MOAR NEW PARTS TO BUILD MOCS WITH!!! ^_^

+1 There's probably a market for it. Heck, many amazing builders in our community (Sean and Steph Mayo, Rook and Carys H.) are Christians. As for there being a market and being able to sell stuff, well, like any religion, yeah. It's legal as long as you mention that LEGO doesn't endorse or affiliate with your "business". The thing you should understand about religion (and this is NOT a bash on religion, and I'm really impressed this hasn't broken out into a religious argument, so bravo everyone ^_^) is that to keep religion strong, many religious leaders jump on the hype wagon of whatever is in popular culture these days and then they try and weave religion into it. The best example I can think of was a good friend of mine (who is a DEVOUT Christian) brought me to her Church to listen to a lecture on God, Jesus, the Holy Ghost and The Marvel Universe. Aside from it being one of the weirdest experiences of my life, it did help me realize this notion, that religion will jump on the popular culture bandwagon these days to interest young people. With the ever-increasing popularity of LEGO, and more and more people wanting it, of course religions will "seize this opportunity" to "spread their message" to young people through popular culture mediums. So there will definitely be a market for it, for sure. Hope that helped at all. A very thought-provoking topic, thanks for bringing it up!

Fingers crossed they do a whole episode in LEGO! I guarantee it would be the most watched thing of the day (probably). Plus, how could James May say no? He built a whole HOUSE out of the stuff! ;D

Big brother is your friend! As sad as this may seem, this has to be the wisest thing I've ever seen written on this forum.
