  1. Interesting review, to bad it's completely in Russian. Anyone cares to translate? From the pictures the set doesn't seem that interesting: mediocre design, few interesting parts and overpriced (as usual with lincensed themes).

When I visited Constitution in July 2009, she was in the most unfortunate situation of having her masts removed and her deck covered with a roof, hence I took some pictures from Wikipedia. This Gallery shows some more footage of how she looked when sailing unassisted with battle sail configuration in 1997.   4. I put her in the trunk of a car (a Volkswagen Golf). A few pillows around her made sure she wouldn't move. Apart from one 1x2 tile which fell off the bow no damage was taken; I didn't even drive carefully! I am too wondering how exactly Admiral Croissant achieved that incredible editing with paint. Maybe he'll tell me some day.

  9. Pattex Repair Extreme Gel It is an amazing glue for that purpose. I was really lucky to find it since none of the other glues I tried worked satisfactory.

  13. Admiral, I must say that your photo-editing skills have improved a lot! It is absolutly amazing how you managed to create the impression that these - admittedly beautiful - vessels would indeed be floating and you can even spot some parts of the hull through the water! That really is amazing, even more so since the prefabs makes these ships like a mixture of full models and waterline models. What is a little disappointing is that the sun was shining from behind the ships, so some parts came out darker than they should have been on the pics. It was indeed very inspiring seing Vesta in real life and also meeting Captain Blackmoor and yourself. I'm sure some things we discussed will soon take effect.
  14. That is indeed very unfortunate and bothering me a lot too! Apart from that it's such a beauty, but the masts do sort of spoil it a bit, at least for me... The mentioned main parts need to be shorter as well. It's hard to judge from the picture, maybe just try to use this picture as a reference? I know it's been posted in this thread before, but still it seems you could still make a lot of progress by studying the mast proportions; the realtive size of the lowest mast section in this case. It would of course be another major improvement if you were to add more black "iron rings" with a regular spacing to at least the lower mast section! Also I think the yards are too big at the top (esspecially royals). So BEFORE you start to make sails or progress on the build please, please spend some time on the masts. I know it isn't easy. I rebuild my masts a lot too until I felt them to be good enough to start with the rigging; and they still are not perfect! The headrails have improved a lot, but the lowest hose should still bend differently, or you could simply get rid of it if you don't manage to have it bend more naturally (i.e. less steep and higher on the bow). It's fully optional and not so much a part of the headrails themselves and should represent an ornamnetal line below them. Well, apart from the unproportioned masts your ship however does look quite impressive! The thin red line really adds a lot to her beauty! I wish you the best of luck continuing with this project. With a few changes on the masts you can put this ship among the best on this forum.
  15. While she my look clumsy and 58 guns doesn't really qualify for a 1st rate, you have captured the genreal appearance of a 3 deck ship of the line such as the HMS Victory very well! Also the realtively elaborate figurehead with in fact two figure tells me that you've done quite some research! Well done. Now you finally have a MOC you can refer to as a reference to your expereince and your skills. Maybe put some small pictures of it in your signature? This is what the real thing would look like:
  16. That is indeed a nice surpirise! A brig of which we do not get to see too many on this foum! She's looking quite good already, especially for a side project. Quite obviously some of the aesthetics are very similar to two notable ships on this forum. However I do think she is too stubby for a Brig, even as a "supply ship" she would be longer in realtion to her width. So adding one more midsection would help a lot here! Also I agree with Admiral Croissant that small windows would fit in much better here. Good luck on her!

  18. Nice, it does not look very stable or constructed with great care, but it sure has a very unique and feel to it! As Aalak mentioned, it seems quite realistic lighthouses were build in a hurry to allow ships a safe passage!

  20. I saw this on flickr before, it's a simply amazing ship that is very true to the oringinal and uses an extremely innovative and realistic technique for the hull. Great job, really! Congrats Hoexbroe! Please don't be so modest in the future! This MOC is one of those few that qulify for a whole different category of Lego ships due to its sheer awesomeness.
  21. Yes! 100% Lego; 0% LDD! Thanks a lot, kurigan! I would suggest using a ifferent technique for the masts, for example technique connectors for the upper section like Admiral Croissant and myself did. Also your bow is narrowing far to quickly; it should be much wider. Of course some haedrails and a proper stern with windows and ornaments would be nice too! But you're doing a good job here, with real Lego!
  22. Great picture, Admiral! Well, I think it's interesting how you've made the headrails with dragon wings, but it does not really feel appropriate here. While it looks good from the top or bottom, they do not look like headrails should from any other angle; and they don't curve properly either. If it only wasn't LDD you could use this sweet hose technique Take a look at this:
  23. Well, the SNOT technique you are using for the sides looks quite promising, but I'm not sure if it's totally even at the bottom. It really should be, because otherwise you'll end up having major structural problems. The hull shape seems rather good so far, but I have to agree with kabel and Admiral Croissant that it's both too small for a proper brig and the pro is far too long. Also some curves and mor spacing between the gunports would be nice. But I really like how you've added your very own touch to it! I 100% agree!
  24. Uhh the story with bricks distorting on a heater really hurts... Well, for a weekend project with limited amounts of parts your ship does look promising however, even though it is of course rather clumsy. From that background you can be proud of her! However as Admiral Croissant said, building a more realistic and sophisticated ship takes way longer and also costs much more, so there is no point nitpicking on details when you're not willing or able to build to that standard.
  25. I deeplinked some of them for you! 7 masts is really oversized and the pictures proof it. Maybe sometimes less is more? Just a thought! I don't know where you want to head with this.
