I have started adding square sails to my ships, next will be staysails and possibly studding sails. I'll start with Medée since I believe Legonardo could use some more pics of her.

Congratulations! Also thanks for the many pictures. The glow-in-the-dark-ghostship is pretty impressive! I think it would deserve it's own thread.

The Eurobricks Collaborative Pirate build at Brickworld Chicago
BrickPerfection replied to Big Cam's topic in LEGO Pirates
Congratulations! That's a terrific display; and it's really huge. How come all of those ship MOCs haven't been posted in the Pirate Moc Forum? Like for instance that ghost ship? -
Nope, it's the Bermuda Sloop. As you can see I started making sail patterns with cardboard and now I'm also into sailmaking itself: The tea that I use for colouring the sailcloth is from a German discounter, 50 bags for 0,69€. I'm also using the same glue for the ratlines in case anyone wanted to know. All strings are cotton. Yes. You've got a point there, but I like to keep the rigging rather simple for a cleaner look. Well I haven't added backstays yet, when I do they'll reack back 3 more studs. You are correct, but she's 1:42 now and 74 guns; 172 studs long and 44 studs wide; and yes unfortunately I encountered some frustration building the bow, so she's frozen.

Hi Horry, ja ich bin in Köln geboren und lebe immer noch da. Du bist Theaterregisseur? Krass, das ist mal interessant!

The brickbuild hull looks really nice! My thought would be that the gunports are a bit high; I'd make them more in the middle of the yellow line. Maybe use tiles instead of 2x2 plates? Or 2x2 Flags? The white masts seem a little unconventional, but they really look good! I'd space the black "iron rings" qith 3 white in between. Is the fighting top SNOT? It has a perfect size.

I really like your customs and it's amazing to see how many of them you have amassed! But how come they have less detail than those?
-
I just saw how you made the vertical stabilizer in your photostream and I must say it's a superb very and creative way to use headlight bricks and cheese slopes!
-
That's cool, thanks!

Looks very clean! I really like the inverted use of those good old windshields! The armament is truly intimidating! I feel sorry to hear about your food poisoning Is there a way to see the motorised functions? I'd really love to. The link just leads to your photostream nd I can't spot a video there. Thanks!

Lego will never allow for a military theme, not even if it's special and AFOL only. About the tank: weird, that there hasn't been a reply in 2010. It's a great design, and the suspension seems ingeniuosly accurate, but the exterior isn't very detailed. I still like Leopard 2 the most of all technic tanks. It's both very functional and more detailed than this one.

I never understood what's so special or "magical" about MISB, but I'm not a great fan of sets either. If you don't plan to sell there is just one logical option: open it and either build the set or a MOC. If your're really looking forward to building it, then wait for a suitable day, but do it, don't hesitate. I think that bricks waiting in their plastic bags after many years are a bit sad and can only advise you to free them... but it's your decision!

Excellent, as always! I'm esspecially fond of the F106 since the cockpit shapes seems so perfect. The Thud has probably been a bit more tricky, and the camo looks very much like Vietnam: The service history of the 105 there wasn't quite glamorous though. How long does it take you to make one of those? Do you disassemble MOCs after posting? Thanks for sharing!

Friendship hairpieces good for Pirates?
BrickPerfection replied to Captainmorgan's topic in LEGO Pirates
Looks very much like the Friends hairpiece! As for the governor: has anyone tried to paint it grey or white yet? IMO the shape is perfect, just the colour doesn't look so much like a wig. -
REVIEW: 7770 Deep Sea Treasure Hunter
BrickPerfection replied to Flare's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review, very clean pictures! The set itself seems rather boring to me, though the price tag seems ok. Maybe those yellow technic stoppers proof useful at some point. -
Admiral Croissant's Tutorial is by far the best for this matter. you can also glue strings that where historicaly used for the reefing of large sails:

Well a display like that is really nice, but not everybody wants the need to put brickbuild water around their ships. Besides this can be quite a hassle on very big ships, like for instance Sebeus' Dutchman. This is very true for brickbuild hulls exceeding a certain size. Got to stress that point. Well, that's mostly because prefab ships tend to be rather small. I can remove the prefabs from the bottom of my ships and they stay intact without too much trouble. Pretty much everything else you said is wrong or confusing too. No, obviously it cannot. But kurigan doesn't seem to understand.

1.)I estimate about 6000-6500 for the frigates; 1200-1500 for the Sloops and 2500-2700 for the other two ships so it will be more than 20.000 bricks for all of them 2.)Yes I glue the ratlines onto the shrouds, this isn't really new, I did the same with Achille about 2 years ago. I never had many issues with loose rigging, I just pull everything tight and it stays tight. Here's my mortar: Really? A viable option would be dark red: But I still prefer red, since it works better with the blue: Well, you can have a quick look at her too if you like: Next time I'll start posting detailed pics of one ship after another; guess I'll start with the bomb ketch.

[pid][/pid] 135C - 136D Dear all, I'm very exited about and that I like to refer to as NextGen. Among other things this means that I'm only using the lower parts of the new prefabs (all of which are black, thanks to PotC) combined with a brickbuild bow and stern. All ships are built inspired by plans and models; and are supposed to resemble French ships from roughly 1760-1780. Of course, concessions were made for minifigure illusion scale and playability, yet the colours, sail plan & size, and the gun count are historically accurate. 8 ships in total; 6 built in parallel with the new technique, and 2 were updated: Magicienne, a 38gun frigate built on 7 midsections more pictures on flickr (full resolution) Concorde, a 32gun frigate (6mids) more pictures on flickr (full resolution) Médée, a 18gun brig-of-war (4mids) more pictures on flickr (full resolution) Furieuse, a bomb ketch (4mids) more pictures on flickr (full resolution) Aigle, a 10gun Bermuda sloop (2mids) more pictures on flickr (full resolution) Sirène, another 10gun Bermuda sloop more pictures on flickr (full resolution) In addition, I have rebuilt the two original frigates of my fleet: Achille, a 28gun frigate (6mids) more pictures on flickr (full resolution) Guerrière, a 24gun frigate (5mids) more pictures on flickr (full resolution)

I to want your tigers! And those Lions! Man, I really haven't thought about Lego animals, but now that you're bringing up the topic I have to agree that we really do need them! Your renders all look fantastic, the only slight bit of criticism I'd have is that the legs of your elk and moose seem a tad long. Thanks for bringimng this up, and yes let's hope this gets real.

Wow, there comes the first good-looking ship build on 8 midesections! I've always thought that 7 is the max and actually I still do since you're really stretching the max here. If you'd put her in some brick water like SuperSirLink, she'd look just as fine as with a brickbuild hull; which by the way she almost does. The colour combination is really great, which already has been the case on your first, "sausage style" ship and I really like your stern. For exhibition purposes the interior is less important than finishing the ship, but it would still be nice to have some; and your cannons really need wheels. C3PO as the figurehead is funny, but I'd change that in the long term. But I'm assuming you'll improve her a bit here and there when you've got the time? When you give the masts some more time, please consider that the topsail yards are a bit too large. No, that's accurate since railing on these ships was quite low. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to anything you post from now on (and esspeciall to MOCs ).

Thanks for bumping this since otherwise I would've missed it! Your port indeed looks impressive. I wonder how large such a port would need to be to hold larger MOC ships, or even something collossal such as the Fourageux? I have to agree that the waterside grey-with-black-bits-rocks could be improved, I'd suggest a combination of grey and dark grey, and some green or even dark green close to the water to resemble algae.

Looks pretty nice. I agree about what others have said regarding the boat and spanker sail. The blog is deserved and something to be proud of. I'm looking foward to your next creation!

I do like your attempt at creating that smoke purely with Lego elemets. What you could do to make it look even better is to extend the size of it by using more skeleton arms.

Oh my, what misfortune! But then again what luck! This is really a situation where I'm not sure which is greater. All that pubilicity is incredible! But the whole ship into pieces... I wouldn't take that as easily as you do. My compliments on that! I only hope the rigging wasn't damaged too much. Need any help with that? After all I'm the first and so far only one to apply that technique succesfully. Keep us updated on the repairing process please!
