Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job
CMP replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
Atramor spent the better part of the party's rest time halfway up the Armory's ratlines, silently observing the sea rock back and forth beneath him. On occasion he looked around, trying to catch a glimpse of Strivvi, but was otherwise indifferent to their quest. It was difficult to care about even important business, so enthralled in his element. Rufindel's quiet drumming and the sour scent of Skrall's pipe brought back vague memories of Dreida. Despite the crudeness of the port, he couldn't help but miss the place and its atmosphere - not even Eubric could match it. His gaze drifted west, towards the bay. "Home. So close, yet so far," he chuckled, shaking the nostalgia out of his head. McCafferey's beady eyes snapped the opposite direction, eastward. "Indeed." -
The Loaded Die, of course. Doc, why are you using the Briar Bow? Even if you roll a Hit, it won't have an effect on Vermin.
-
I'm starting to care a little bit less about the loot, the NPCs keep talking about the Strivvi blacksmiths and I wanna see what kind of stuff they can do.
-
I believe that's allowed, just not recommended. Experts say playing two games at once is challenging3.
-
I believe it was sold for 50, so that'd be 100.
-
That sounds like a really cool effect. It's even more of a threat than Afraid.
-
You could just use the Weakened effect for those.
-
Why not just give them the Encouraged and Fragile effects? That's what the Scroll of Recklessness does.
-
Yeah. Come on, world, hurry up and end already, I wanna play some mafia!

"That's what I've been suspectin'. But he did just help us fight off a bunch of orcs, and I suppose if he's entirely honest about his background...I think he's fine. By the sounds of it, we already have more people to keep an eye on..." Atramor casts a glance back down below the cargo hold as they bulk of the part emerges back onto the deck, wincing a bit as the sudden rush of sunlight. "Well, neither Skrall, Rufindel or I have bedrolls. But it'd be a waste to sleep when we're on the seas, in my mind, anyway. Ya'll can rest if ya' want." -
I don't think it should be changed, the Twin Axe and Dual Staff are just single weapons, and they're still dual strike. The Twin Broadswords only have it specified because it's an especially strong weapon and the inability to use shields to balance it.

Atramor looked up at the ceiling, where the gruff voice of Skrall echoed. "Aye, there's no trouble, we've just run into the guards that'll be assistin' us." -
You guys demonstrate the most innovative techniques, and this is no exception. I love it. I like the way you did the water lava in particular.
-
I thought you got to choose both enemies you hit on dual strike weapons?

Atramor stepped back, allowing Boomingham to do the talking. Knights were supposed to be diplomatic...or something to that effect, so surely he'd have a better chance of getting information. He muttered to the paladin from nearby anyway. "Likelier than you'd imagine. She don't trust anyone with the 'hero' label...but since this quest is all about savin' guards, I doubt they'd try to undermine us." McCafferey seemed thoroughly bored at this point, gazing lazily at the group with half-lidded eyes. -
They revolve around Arthur. Not much point to them besides his storyline. As it relates more and more on the Wren Quests and NPCs, there's increasingly less interaction from other players. Is it weird that this class sounds cool?
-
Let me be the first to say the new Tesni looks badass.
-
That needs to be quest.
-
Well, at least when players are fighting Vermin at higher levels, it's usually huge mobs of low-levelled creatures.
-
Oh crap.
-
Last time she came around the end of October.
-
I thought the Beast Skewer was ice elemental and had an Opal.
-
Ravage was edited a while ago, I think Eric should only get gold equal to Ricky and Malbert's level.

Atramor is barely able to suppress a snicker at Nyx's comment. "No, not really. I'm sure ya'll come in handy in Strivvi. And who're the rest of ya'?" he adds, looking between the other two guardsmassassins. -
I was going to wait for Flipz to swoop in, summarize everything awesome about the quest in a massive wall of text, and just agree with him, but... I really enjoyed it. There wasn't a lot of freedom, but on such a story-centric quest, I can see why, who wants to screw around with side plots when you could finally be figuring what the hell is up with Wren? The battles were cool. Despite being for the most part single bosses, they were actually quite a challenge, even for such a varied and powerful party. I mean, they had to twist the system just to win the last one. The loot was nice as well. The story all fit together and nailed down the missing piece of the Wren Quests. Quests 7 and 19 were in the present, setting up the whole thing, we discovered her future plans in Quest 30, and you describer her past in this one. A good way to round it off before the last one, you/the heroes really cut down that aggravating 'untouchable' aura she has, her humanity really showed through. I liked the new old party as well, they each had a clearly defined personality and I'm looking forward to them in the final quest. (I do hope to see some more backstory to them, there wasn't time to delve into it during this quest). All I can say is that my hopes are high for the last Wren Quest, I really, really, really want to see how it all ends, perhaps be there too.
