Heroica RPG- Quest #96: Tying up Loose Ends
CMP replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
Also, poisoning is affected by fragile. Atramor raised his shield, lobbing his Gaia Bomb over it from the back row. "We can finish this now if we wanted, Nyx, if ya' throw that Rudra Bomb." -
How would you define it as working?

These quests are pretty linear, if nobody's noticed. They have to be in order to keep things synchronized in these quests. And putting diplomacy in front of everything you say shouldn't just automatically make it more valid.

It's a passive thing, it activates whenever equipped, not just on hits. -

Did you roll for the Pheles Rod's chance to generate an Aura? -
If you're attacking all the boss monsters, it's no wonder you can't assassinate anything. Assassins are made for thinning out crowds, not attacking bosses.
-
Then what are you complaining about? You're getting as much loot as the rest of your party and you're constantly superbuffed.
-
It takes all of two rounds to use Mead, Nostrum, and Smelling Salts. If a battle doesn't look 'profitable' enough to you, just don't use them that battle. I adhere to common sense when drafting up enemy loot as well. The majority of my next quest's enemies aren't going to drop anything because it would make no sense at all for them to carry anything. The trick is to make sure the party gets its fair share of loot overall in the quest anyway. Stuffing gold into every other enemy for no reason other than to have them get mugged is just ridiculous.

"That could be fifty years from now for all we know. We're lucky we have a short term plan, I'm not willing to throw that away for a chance at a long term one." "Unless you plan to destroy the bridge or throw the first stone in a war, there's still nothing keeping him from coming back to inflict his revenge on us. I took him as leverage. Turning him into a bargaining chip is not a good idea." Bastala raises her goblet. "Thank you." "You expect me to believe-" Bastala stares as her father steps into view, a look of disbelief and surprise crossing her face. Her wine goblet slips from her hand. Garhon blinks, looking between Bastala and Grishnod. "....I...father? What're you doing here? How are you-..." She glances sideways at Cinna's party for a moment, then turns her eyes onto Grishnod again. ".....I'm...it's good to have you back, father, but......my policies are none of your business. I'm the leader of this clan, and I'll handle this situation." Her voice seems to have hardened somewhat as she turns to the heroes. "You have my sincerest thanks for returning my father to me....however, this is a trade that's just too costly for Clan Irlaz. You're not getting Valentino. Father....you're welcome to stay, but I'm the one in charge of things around here from now on. Your time has passed." Her harsh words put an end to all conversation in the room, momentarily, as she sinks back into her throne. Before anyone can speak again, another orc bursts into the palace. He walks up to the throne quickly, bowing to Bastala briefly. "...I apologize for the intrusion, clan leader...and, uh, everyone...but I bring urgent tidings from Clan Musalnav. The capital of Imaestym is under attack." Olmstyr looks up from his spot leaning against a wall, standing straight immediately. "What??" "Not four hours ago scouts spotted High Kingdoms soldiers crossing the bridge. They were quick to alert clan leader Karstaal, but he never anticipated such a sudden attack, and Imaestym's defenses were minimal. Clan Tarokin had been patrolling the area just in case of such an assault, but it was a small force, and they were all killed buying time. Their army...it's not a full-out attack, our predictions of their numbers have always been much higher, but nonetheless they stormed the city easily. We estimate as many as fifteen hundred dead already, mostly civilians, and they're still pillaging the city-" Olmstyr wheeled around to face his party, a grim and hard expression on his face. "We need to go there. Now." "...I see..." Bastala rubs the side of her head, looking out the window for a moment. "Olmstyr, go to the stables and tell the master you've come for my Charisian Red, he'll lend you our fastest horses. They're not aepyorni, but you should make good time with them." He nodded. Bastala turned to Garohn. "...Garohn. Prepare the reserve company. I doubt Imaestym will hold out long enough for us to get there in time, but...well." She paused. "...If worst comes to worst, Baltarok will know Clan Irlaz didn't sit idly by while the Kingdoms overran our country." "Yes, clean leader." He looked between her and Grishnod briefly, giving a conflicted nod to the latter and walking out. Olmstyr looked towards his party, expression pained. "If you have anything else to say to your friends, now's the time. Otherwise, get ready to leave." Bastala, meanwhile, looked over at Cinna's group, with a sigh. "Is there anything else you need?"

That's not the way everybody else does it.

Items that do nothing but are worth gold at shops.

You can't, sorry.

Medal of Glory and Mythril prices were switched for balancing reasons.

"Yes; he's set to be released over my dead body." "Are you insane? We've held their beloved king prisoner for a matter of months - what possible reason could they have for not killing us as soon as we give him back?" Bastala seemed to be getting genuinely annoyed for once. "The voice of reason! I knew I'd find you somewhere. Had a feeling it'd be you, too," she adds, sipping her wine once more. "You're going to have to give me something beyond valuable if you want the old man back, heroes."
-
As should I.

Atramor swaps to the Pheles Rod, and again swings at the Hireling, but from the back row. "Hope this damn thing works. It's been about as useful a lamppost lately." -

And of course my target ends up dead as a result. Atramor steps back as the operative's head explodes in a bolt of lightning, instead swinging at the Hireling from the front row with his Tiger Claws twice. -

I think Circle of Might and Magic deals damage to all enemies. Also, Nyx's weapon is poisoned. Atramor draws his Tiger Claws once again, tearing into the Wolfgang Operative from the front row twice. -
Bastala gazed at Cinna blankly for a moment before sipping her wine. "I watched my brothers die during the viking attack trying to protect my father." "They've gotten along fine without their king for some time. If I let him go, there's no telling what he would do in retaliation. As long as he's here, we have leverage over the Kingdoms. It's that kind of leverage that keeps them from crossing the bridge, at least for the time being."
-
You're fighting books in a library. That's probably the most enemies we've seen in Heroica, ever.
-
How do you prepare for a Passive Special that's defined as "???" ? In very rare circumstances so I consider spontaneous changing of battle reasonable. Secret passive specials, second boss forms, enemies randomly popping into battle. The only time I can recall being present for any of these was in the Wren battle, and to be honest she was such a central boss character that I think we all expected something like that to happen. That's my opinion, anyway.
-
Bastala blinked, and chuckled into her goblet. "There will be no barter. I will not give up my favorite prisoner. I like King Valentino where he is."

I should be fully healed and my Smoke Bomb should be gone. Atramor slid back into the smoke just in time to deliver a vicious free hit with his Tiger Claws to the Wolfgang Operative twice. He then retreated, pulling out the Pheles Rod, holding the weapon loosely in one hand as he readied his shield. "If I manage to get an aura up, mates, don't both fightin' from the back." He took a swing at the Wolfgang Operative from the back row. -
"Hmm. Maybe. Understand our race has been imprisoned in either chains or this wasteland for our entire existence. Looking at the colors of the world has always been secondary to living to see the world another day. Marga's simply suggesting what she thinks is best. I don't think anyone would argue with her based on the premise that it's not right. Maybe she's a crazy bitch with a terrible sense of fashion, but she probably really thinks it'll help to have your heads on sticks facing the Kingdoms." She sips her wine. "Luckily, I don't share that sentiment."
-
"Depends on who you consider to be Clan Aj-Kahr," joked Bastala, sipping from her goblet. "Marga demanded I lop off your heads as soon as you got here. Gor said the best chance for our survival was to work with you. There's no middle road when it comes to dealing with heroes, is there?"
