well, tlg classify the farm theme as a sub theme of city. at least that's how you need to navigate on S@H to get to the farm sets. but i agree with you in that it's more like a modern mid-west (western?) setting. as i mentioned in a few threads before, it probably makes sense to classify themes in four broader categories: historical, current, fiction, and sci-fi. it's then quite clear where this theme sits. but no matter how you classify themes there are bound to be themes which cross genres. like in a venn diagram, these would share/cross into the major categories. eg. steampunk = historical/sci-fi or in the current categories - castle/city.

a heads up. i know kmart catalog says 15% off lego, but it's probably this weekend (or today only) kmart is having 30% off lego sale. i just got all the 1st half SW and IJ sets! and i scored a MM hypercraft for $56. pretty banged up box though... lego farm was $125, and after the discount it is $87.50. very good price!

i think it's a glitch. just relax. there is some price hike but not as drastic as it looks currently. i think what happened was they uploaded the new prices but unfortunately the software merged the old price with the new price causing it to more than doubled. for eg, in aus - a torso was around 0.96, it is now 2.41. i think the new price was supposed to be 1.45 but the merging process added the old price with the new price. in any case, i think we will be seeing some price hikes of between 40-50%. be prepared for it. on a positive note, it is nice to see that PAB expanded. we now have 1496 parts vs 1000 previously. this begs the question of....will we be getting new lego factory sets? it might be cheaper just buying the pre-packed sets rather than use PAB.

figures... as soon as i am away, sales would come. drat...missed the 3 for 2 myer sale. anyhoo, i did get the jungle cutter, crystal temple and the SW rep tank on sale from the MK lego store!

well, i guess you missed the chance to get them cheap with the monster dino set! it was on sale at S@H for 50% off. the monster dino set comes with a IR controller, a IR receiver, 2 motors and a battery pack. only thing missing are the light bricks. if you buy the PF set now, it only contains 1 motor, 1 battery pack, 1 switch, and 2 light bricks. quite pricy too. so glad i got the monster dino set from S@H.

how much are you asking for 1 magnet set? i'm kinda interested in the spongebob set but can probably wait until later in the year to make an order.

thanks erd! i checked all my magnet mfs. seems like only the yoda, windu, dooku mfs have that marking. the rest do not. i think it's only recent mfs that have them. perhaps those with the RAS and AAT sets can check if the mfs there have similar markings. at this point, i would say this is mostly psychological. if you really want observable difference you would compare the new lego cows vs the regular lego horses. the cows have noticable color difference, sound difference, and are most likely from non-abs plastic. edit: i think i know why the arms have markings. most likely the result of many customer complaints that the mf arms have hairline cracks. they are probably trying to figure out the right plastic mix to have enough flexibility yet not overly soft: if too soft, the hands will be too loose, but if too stiff, then cracks will develop.

wow, your decals are great! you should apply them to see how they look. your hulk is nice. though i can see where you got the grimace from! it's hard to apply hulk to a normal mf though... since the hulk needs to be much larger.

retail lego sets are stocked by lego australia which is hq'ed in lane cove, nsw. might be better to develop a contact there. the staff sometimes visit the retail stores. i met a couple from lego aus restocking the shelves in myer during the christmas sale. i also saw them in cbd melb's myer last nov.

let me spell it out for you. my proposition was that you can get the ATOT/LAAT/c cheaper if you are willing to build from downloaded instructions and using RGS and ATTE as parts pack. Couple that with several clone BP and you should be able to top ATOT/LAAT/c with still money to spare. I was rebutting the previous argument that ATOT/LAAT/c has better mfs because it has gunners and pilots. MY REBUTTAL WAS THAT GUNNERS WERE ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE BP and pilots are just as easy to obtain. From a mf perspective, RGS and ATTE are much better off because of the jedis and other harder to get mfs. from either a parts pack perspective, a model perspective (my argument again was that you can build 10195 from parts from RGS/ATTE/BPs), or mf perspective a RGS/ATTE/BPs combo thumped ATOT/LAAT/c any day. the only argument for ATOT/LAAT/c is convenience as building 10195 from pieces from other sets require effort. there's no need for saying my argument was beyond detestation, when you clearly did not understand my position. when did i make the comparison based SOLELY on mfs? why should i need to understand your position for? you did not make the original argument but was rebutting my position.

the catalog is out already and pirates are not in it. this means if pirates will ever be released it will be in the 2nd half of 09. power miners should be out march according to the catalog. you can get a copy of the catalog from target if you didn't already have one mailed to you.

red is a test color. whenever a new mold is created, it will be done in red as a color test. that's why you have red vader helmet, etc. it was never released as an official set, hence BL sellers are gouging them. as for rarity, it's not really that rare as you can see there are more than a few available from BL. but because of the gouging, it can be pricy. another test "color" is trans-clear.

now that batman is gone, the BL market for the sets and mfs went through the roof. if there is still a huge demand a few years from now, i can see how TLG might consider bringing batman back. avatar though is still kinda unpopular. it's unlikely to be revived.

all chewys are the same. i checked my stock and BL too. printing is only on the belt and nose.
