The Toa Mistika aren't my favourite, but I have grown to like them. A lot. When I first saw them I thought they were a mess. Looking nothing like the original (unlike the Phantoka) and Gali looked total bish. I still hate Gali, but I have grown to like Onua and Tahu a lot. In fact, I just bought Onua off eBay, and am still searching for Tahu. Well, the Mahri were quite unique in their own way, focusing more on armour on their limbs rather than their torso. For the 2008 Toa (all of them), only one out of the 6 had a unique torso, Onua, as compared to 3 out of 6 for the Mahri. It's a visible step down, and sometimes I feel it's a real pity Lego couldn't have gone just a small step forward and create new armour pieces for them. I mean, I really like the torsos of Jaller Inika and Onua Mistika, and I was really glad when Mata Nui reused Onua's design.

BZPower has links to pages on the HF website where you can download some posters of each of the heroes in Tiniseltown Toons-ish CGI. TV series/Movie please?

VBBN had just won me over with Meltdown, and now this. Great review. I agree about the face looking too much like a helmet - and I do wish that it's matted. The shiny-ness of it really makes it look cheap. Well, I guess matting it myself isn't hard.

REVIEW: 3300000-1 The Brick Apple
Aethersprite replied to WriteMakesRight's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Not the best fruit set out there IMO, but brilliant review, I must say. -
Sold. Curse you VBBN, you made me want Meltdown, and now Rotor. I'll have to save up more in the near future.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Aethersprite replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
AWESOME. I'm praying for this to be true. PotC isn't the best movie series, but it is one of my favourites. That Jack is fantastic. Plus, this fits in very well with PotC 4: On Stranger Tides which is scheduled for release next year. HAIL LEGO! -
I don't have Kalmah or the Baranus, so this might be a silly question... But is Meltdown's tentacle bendy?
-
Yeah, I mentioned that earlier. Anyway: Here.

Awesome new series! Just wondering, is Kopaka (or any of the Nuva, and aside from Tahu) still in their Adaptive Armour form in Karda Nui (a la 2008 sets) or have they reverted back to their usual 2002 set forms?
-
Yay Meltdown and Rotor! Both are my favourite sets. I can't wait.
-
Well, I think they all look great, so I won't pick one.
-
Hero: Furno Smaller villain: I can't decide if it's Meltdown or Xplode. Larger sets: Rotor. I don't like his gas-spewing weapon that is the Avtoran jetpack, though. Looks really odd and out of place.

Damn all you guys, I'll only be able to get my grubby fingers on HF sets in August. Seeing all your opinions, I guess I'll be spending more on Lego this time around...
-
Signed. Avatar: The Last Airbender is, along with Lego, an integral part of my life. I've waited for the movie for 2 years to see it go down, so I'd love to take that disappointment away. Maybe with the upcoming Avatar: The Legend of Korra series later this year, Lego can do a theme on that one.

I started Bionicle with the Bohrok. I own very little sets, because my parents say "They all look the same to me", so I only have a one or two sets from each year. In 2006, my parents decided I was too old for Lego at all, so I don't own any sets from '06 or '07. Then in 2008, I started saving money to get sets I wanted, and I've been getting more and more each year. My first reaction to Bionicle was quite good, I guess. I remember playing with my cousin's Bohrok, begging my parents to get me one, and my elation at getting my first Rahkshi. As for HF, my friends and I really see it more of a Bionicle replacement, so I guess the reaction wasn't as big as it was with Bionicle. That's just me. And I think I'll be getting Meltdown.

Which weapons do you hate? Meltdown's or Corroder's? Not really clear there. I'm still stumped as to who I should get: Xplode or Meltdown. Unlike regular fans, I go more for the overall aesthetic rather than the parts or build since I gave up MOCing many years back. I'd love to get both, but Rotor wants me. Opinions?
-
For a MOC that doesn't use custom minifig parts, this is brilliant! A:TLA has got to be one of my favourite things of all time (along with Lego, of course) and recently I've stayed qutie far from it due to the fact that I anticipated Shyamalan's TLA for over 2 years and it turned out to be a flop... This MOC really revived the Avatard in me. I'm off to see that episode now!

He's using a pun. Geddit? William?
-
Awesome review! I like how the weapons look like a bow when put together in 1 hand.
-
I think he's referring to the 'staff' mode but just in two different hands. Still, thanks for the pic! I really can't decide who to get now, Furno or Surge... I'd really love to get both, but I'm low on budget and my mom will probably nag me at getting 'two of the same thing' again, seeing how similar they are. Oh well.
-
Sorry to bother you again with another request, but could you take a pic of the top of Surge's helmet? I see some sort of lightning spunky hair like pattern there, I'd like a close up. Thanks! EDIT: Like the one in DV's brilliant review of Furno.
-
There are holes in his armour. He probably shot 'em spikes at Mister Surge there.
-
I've seen the recent Youtube reviews - while they do give new insights on the sets (like I'm somewhat convinced to get Thunder now) they don't offer much depth. Meh.
-
I think the reason why TLG used a Glatorian head and not an Avtoran one is so that Nebula's mandibles that are Mantax's claws can be attached to the side of its head.
-
What about his limbs? Those are in a new colour, right?
