  1. I have been finding Peeron slow. I don't know why, maybe server problems etc. Though Peeron reminds me of a small glass case museum compared to the supermarket of Bricklink or the grand museum of Brickset!
  2. Well, I got two today - just because I might need some of the other parts... Range:Star Wars: TCW Pieces: 66 (i think); 4 are spare Cost:Free with paper: 45p if you buy the paper just for the set There's quite a large pile of bricks in the set: Looks even more when organised: Instructions are quiter large (see the technic part near the logo for size comparison? thought not..._): And you get a few spares: It looked to me that there may have been moulding problems... During Construction (shame about that finger coloured UFO ): The Body is quite compact: Here's the fold-down under wing assembly removed from the technic plate: Last instruction seems odd...I didn't realise it should be like this: BTW, there's no stand for this one so you'll have to excuse the fingers. Here's a shot of the mechanism for turning that under wing under the body: Here's a close up of the assembly: Side view: Front view from underneath: Top view: at least you can rest the ship on a flat surface when you've moved the wings: Conclusion: It's a nice display model. Shame about the display stand, but you have to have a compromise somewhere for 45p.
  3. My brother must've had that set....it certainly looks like it from the parts in it.... Time for a new vehicle in Lego City, methinks - a brand new TV van based on this one...
  4. I haven't suffered any real problems with any pets or vermin. Cats get the mice and rats, and everything else just stays away (must be something about living in a nice warm, dry house in a 'concrete jungle' ). The only problem I've had so far is my cat trying to help me with some of my MOCs or when I'm searching for parts in my lego box. Sat on a (soon not to be) empty baseplate once.... Mind you, at leats the cat's nearing 12 (he called Jim after the kids show Rosie and Jim; yes, his sister is called 'Rosie) he sleeps and eats mostly until he wants a cuddle or to go out at 5 o'clock in the morning...
  5. My tow truck and camper have had problems with the seats. Blutack cured that problem But it's the legs that have changed as I've got some old blue seats from the late 80's/early 90's and the minifigs had problems with them...
  6. I would like to see the prohibition theme donme today - afterall, we have a gansters car from the Indy sets, and Lego seem to be more at ease with the 'war and guns' issue...
  7. Here's an idea for anyone who wants to try it - a rebuilt of the emerald night into an atlantic! I've included a basic diagram for the conversion procedure, and I've also shown where the power functions components go. However, to obtain a 'British' tender, the battery is where the firebox is and the medium motor in the tender, along with the IR reciever. This is done to redice the tender height to something more 'european'. The loco would look similar to a "Jersey Lily": Atlantics were build to haul light express trains fast over distances; they were later demoted to mix traffic duties, such as those held by 4-4-0s and 4-6-0s. Americans seemed to pass Atlantics by, largely becuase their role was filled by other engine types such as the 4-6-0. The tender drive system is basically shown; in theory, an all-wheel tender drive would be ideal, and such a drive would be consturcted with gears linking all the tender wheels. Weight bricks could be used to increase adhesion in the tender. The boiler is intended to be a 'cheese slope' type, as seen here
  8. I personally would've preferred Lego to re-do the design for the hold type hinge - it was much more 'hidable'. Plus it was easier to use!
  9. Why aren't you working for lego?
  10. I've modified the roof after I decided to cannabilise one of my Viking sets (well, I don't find Viking Lego my cup of tea...);
  11. I'll take some better detailed ones soon - yesterdays turned out alright BTW, I was joking when I'd say i'd steal/nab one...
  12. No extras today - though I could've nabbed a second one while no-one was looking... The model compes complete with a clear/see through stand (the usual dish with pipe combo; though it's inbuilt with this one) Theme: Star Wars (TCW) No of pieces: 32 (4 are spares) Release Date: 2008 - appeared in 7675 "AT-TE Walker" RRP when released: Free (promotional set); 45p if you but the paper just for the set The outer packet: There is a modest ammount of parts: Instructions part 1: Instructions page 2: ...And the advertising : And the droid. Isn't he cute and harmless wiothout his weapon? (spare arm!) During step 6: And the spares (including the droid arm): The top part is quite clever in that it just clips on: The finished article: I was quite dissapointed to learn there was no platform for the droid's feet Overall: Not bad for the 45p. A nice veriety of parts, and probably a model we'll never see again. Again, quite a simple build that'll keep people amused; and possibly one which might be modified by those who don't believe it looks 'right'. Quite clever use of the technic pneumatic T junction as the holder for the 'wings'; which fitted into 1x1 blue bricks with studes on the top and all sides. Shame about the 'no platform for droid's feet' issue; but droids don't have rights, do they... And BTW; I think someone got jealous... "That'll teach him"
  13. yes. I've tried modifying it to have a ladder - though it still has a lot to be done! did you see my brick track? it's a filler until i buy some real track...
  14. my number, 7007, is absolutely nothing - not even a piece! ;( btw-this is posted from my Wii!
  15. those doors look good!
  16. I haven't got a layout...yet. But when I've got enough money (or had long enough tp buy everything), I'm buying 2 emerald nights, one set of RC points, one set of RC straight and curved track, and PF stuff to motorise a loco.
  17. I agree in that a bank would be a nice addition. I'd love to buy the Mailman impulse if it was ever made - Impulse sets will easily be bought as they don't cost much and therefore more can be bought. I'd also but an icecream salesman, maybe a civilian or two (e.g. man with bike, kid on way to school etc.) I'd quite like to see more 'civilian' buildings (e.g. warehouse, supermarket, car dealership) as well as some more 'train' ones., such as a repair depot.
  18. Metroliner, though I think 4564 is pretty good. Though I'd quite like 4565 if it wasn't in all the same colours.
  19. I'm suprised no-one's noticed this, but there looks to be two types of 2x2 circular plate with technic axle hole in the centre. And the difference seems to be in the colour. Newer type for the grey and older type for the blue.
  20. I knew I was missing something...but I think it's worht 45p just for some of the parts - I mean, there's 4 technic plates in the set - 2 2x4 in black and 2 2x8 in black...how often do you find these?
  21. Here's my first review - let's hope it makes front page! I got my Daily Mirror from Sainsburys, walked round to Toys 'R' Us and gues what I got...A CHROME Darth Vader as well ("we've got some of these left over" said the assistant!) Theme: Star Wars (ROTJ) No of pieces: 46 (with 2 spare); 47 (with 3 spare) if you get the 9th blue grill piece - see below) Release Date: 2009 RRP when released: Free (promotional set); 45p if you but the paper just for the set Here's a photo of all the parts; 14 each for the wings and 16 for the 'body': The Instructions: Starting Construction: Here's the main parts: Completed Model side: rear: top: And the spares (though I think the blue grill isn't a spare unless I've lost it - could someone confirm?): It's a nice little set, and certainly a very detailed one. Very simple constuction once you've completed the parts - as you can see the main parts are the body and the two wings. And for 45p you can't complain (whoever does should remove themselves from this forum immediately!). Here's waiting for tomorrows!
  22. If you have a look at most high speed trains, they do have a 'skirt'; but none the size of the Lego model. Take a look at this shot of the American Acela Express:
  23. ENTERED Here's my entry to the Train Building Contest; a simple container wagon. It was build mostly out of parts I already had, except for the wheels, and train bogie plates. It is intended to be stationary (as I have very little in the way of trains) as something to transfer containers to from my truck. Loaded: Empty: And the underframe: And in the setting: And you'll find instructions for it here!
  24. A Lego film might be very good . The Thomas The Tank Engine film was crap - and it cost Britt Allcroft her job... and that was a mix of normal animation, live action and CGI overlapping. The Lego film will undoubtedly either bring lego into a new era...or might see Lego have a 'circling the drain' session if it flops.
  25. Here's a few shots showing the mods to my camper: The mods are as follows: > the two 1x3 slopes have been replaced with 2 1x2 slopes > The TV has been moved to the gap created by the above. > Interior has been changed around to look better > Both sides redesigned to suit interior; holding 1x1 bricks moved to left door. > 1 of the 2x2 window pieces moved to the rear to look like a door; ladder on rear moved to the right. And lastly the bike has had a headlight and rear light added;
