James May to build life size lego house!
Matt Dawson replied to allanp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
apparently it's only being demolished becuase the vinyard wanted the space back - despite the fact that it'll be about 4 months before they'll have even the remotest chance to plant the vines themselves... -
There are only 2 sets of wheels becuase the model was designed to fit over the 9V train motor - I have a LDD file (and it CAN be bought from Lego!) of the exact design which I'm quite happy to share. Also I was limited by my parts collection. The model is a bit of a compromise but it doesn't look too bad compared with what really existed: EDIT: you can see the 'new' engine here.

I did it like that as most small UK/european shunters (like Hunsletts, Barclays, etc.) have sloping cabs; but more importantly, have the door on the sloping bit: I'm currently waiting on an order from bricklink which features doors, windows and a few other spare parts... let's hope royal mail haven't lost it (or some sod stole it for himself...)

May I just say something? These sets are still 4 months away, at least! Why all the comotion? Yes, while it's nice to see what the sets are like, what's wrong with suprises? It's hardly like your going to die before they're released, surely?

My Lego story "was I building Lego, or was Lego building me"
Matt Dawson replied to allanp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As someone with Asperges Syndrome, I sympathise. Even I have trouble with the black country accent...and I've visted the area many times... -
Why didn't they leave them with a neighbour? That's rediculous
-
I'm going to get the army set (providing it's a reasonable price) as it'll be very useful.

Here's some images of mods I've done to my 7639 camper: Some overall shots: Rear: Interior: The modified divider: The bike didn't some with any lights...it has them now! Mod List: > Re-arranged sides to obtain un-mirrored view. equipment vent fitted. > Rear modified to look like a door is present with the window left over from above. TV removed. > Modified underneath to obtain 2 1x2 green tiles - these have been moved to the front wheel arch to cover it up a bit. > Roof modified with aerial. > Divider between front and camping section revised and TV moved here

I don't know whether anyone has posted these, but there are some set images for TS. See this thread.

I don't. I was just checking.

I've been searching for the 'delete' button, and can't find one (it's something I do just in case I have problems...) Is it possible to delete one, and how?

5 bricks? (faint)
-
is that 5 bricks for height? I can see the top of the battery from the Lego site so i know it's 4 studs wide by 8 long.
-
Can anyone tell me the dimensions (in either plates or bricks for height) of the Power Functions rechargable battery box?

I wasn't exactly suggesting it be in EVERY store...just a selected few (to even up the spread of Lego). I used to have a Lego store within 10 miles of me in Birmingham (I'm in the UK), but they closed down - therefore the only chance to buy Lego was at Woolworths (now gone under), Toys R Us and Argos. All stocking pretty much the same stuff, too. And all at about the same prices (i.e. more). The price thing. I would've thought that it would be on the codition that it is at Lego prices, but with profit shared between them. I'm sorry, but why should Lego stores be built in areas which don't need them. The UK stores are in Brighton, Milton Keynes (or however you spell it) and Bluewater. All fairly close to London, and not giving any other of the areas a look in. Why not close the one in Miltin Keynes - the Birmingham store relocated to a cheaper location (it was in the Bullring) would be a much better option.
-
Here's an idea. Everybody likes PAB becuase it allows them to buy elements without having to buy special packs. Toys 'R' Us has a special relationship with lego. Why not allow TRU to run PAB from their stores? An attendant (maybe two) would be all that were needed - and it would allow much more flexibilty where Lego don't have a store. I'm afraid that looking up a website to buy parts isn't the same as dipping in a container and putting them in a pot... Afterall you can buy most Lego sets in TRU (including the 'Battle' or 'supply' pack ones) except for the exclusives. What does anyone think?
-
I would quite like to see Lego release the sets in 'pack' form - e.g. seperate floors (this could give the oppertunity to buy floors in multiple). just under £100 is a lot of money, even to some AFOLs.

First, the model was built like this: EDIT: Rest of post deleted due to no photos + age of topic.

I only got the last two sets in multiples as some of the parts are quite nice. I thought the bit at the end was a 2x2 plate with the 4x1 dropdown on one side (known as a Bracket 1 x 2 - 1 x 4 - Bricklink part listing but was instead a "Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud" (see Bricklink list here The way i did it was to buy 2 daily Mirrors from sainsburys, walk to toys r us (during which I'd stop and remove both vouchers) then bin one just before entering TRU. I'd collect one from the customer service kiosk, then walk around, then go back to the kiosk afterwards. And they didn't even refuse in the slightest Now to start modding my City vehicles. -
The doctors car was a Brick Master exclusive Id've happily swapped the Daily Mirror promo Star Wars sets for these...
-
I got two sets today, due to some of the rarer parts. Range: Star Wars: TCW Pieces: 50 (i think); 5 are spare Cost: Free with paper: 45p if you buy the paper just for the set Release Date: 2009 A fairly normal image on the cover - no shooting, just a flypast of a moon: Quite a few abnormal pieces - at least to me: Instructions: After step four, most of the main lengthy body is built: The Spares: The finished Product: Side: Underneath: End: Conclusion: A nice set for 45p. A few rarer parts that you might not find in normal sets - a good buy if you need some of the parts but can't get enough of an order for Bricklink or PAB.
-
I've been building with my 'other' set before it gets broken up and sent to the 4 corners of the room (or rather, to be built into different models).

TBH, I've had a quick search as the answer is yes, it does appear on only one wing. But where and which wing varies with films, ship modifications etc.
