  1. Set No: 30002 Name: Police Boat Pieces:32; 2 spare Release year: 2009 Price: Free with newspaper, 65p if you're just after the set. My apologies for poor lighting - this was due to typical British weather for autumn (i.e. gloomy and lightly raining)! The polybag, as usual, has a picture of the model on the front: The pile of pieces is quite 'normal': And sorted, we can see the main colours are blue, grey & white: I, personally, have never seen a police fig with this decoration. But then again, I haven't purchased any poleice items since 2005, when the first city sets came out! And the images you've been dying to see (lol): During building (just after step 3): The spares; one 1x1 round trans-yellow and one of the control arm thingies: And the finished item: And with the fig: Though the controls don't fit into the hands of the fig: And the fig off to patrol somewhere..though someone should've told him that he needs water... Conclusions: It looks 'alright' in my opinion. The control equipment could've done with more thought (e.g. 2 control sticks on a 1x2 white brick?) as they don't fit into the hands of the fig. The visor/windscreen thing looks useless to the fig - especially as it's only for infront of him.
  2. Going OT... But wasn't that train the one that went round Big Al's bedroom, in the Toy Story playstation 1 (yes, the original!) game? otherwise it would either be related to Woody's Wound-Up (i.e. western) or just a general one Andy has played with - perhaps in TS3?
  3. on monday i was getting another copy of the tractor and I was given one of Sundays Doctor ones with the comment "we've run out." So i got another paper, and i am now in posession of 2 tractors (when I bought the first paper, I got given a lego set there and then) and an extra medic.
  4. Possibly. I'm buying the frog so i can construct a wreath as was done in an advent calender (I think the 2004 edition), using just 2x2 L shapes (piece 2420)
  5. It is piece 51858.
  6. Pieces: 40; 1 spare Cost: Free with paper: 65p if you buy the paper just for the set Release Date: 24/10/2009 I got two today - for some of the spare parts... As usual for a promo, comes in a sealed platic bag, with a picture of the completed truck and it's driver: There are quite a few small parts for this set: And sorted: Instructions: And as usual, a bit of advertising: During building. You can see the model (at build step 4) in the top left corner, the remaining parts in the middle. And no, I DIDN'T build the fig first! after all, who does't have a fire fig that looks like this one? Also note that there are 3 blue 1x1 round trans blue - one of these is the ONLY spare! The fig: The completed model: And with the fig/canister loaded: Overall: A nice exclusive set. For 65p each, they're not bad at all. Plus you get a nice set of parts which can be used for other models.
  7. Can be at times - several people have died through post office robberies...but then you occasionally get those who try to rob one, then realise they can't, then can't exit becuase they can't work out which way the door goes!
  8. Be fair, we do subsidise your lego prices!
  9. I bought mine in 2005 (it had just been released as there were all the 'new city' sets after World City got discontinued) when Lego still had their Birmingham (UK) store - which they should've kept - why not close Milton Keynes?...
  10. I'll be buying one as a bit of variety... Besides, you just need a new hair piece for it to change gender...
  11. I quite agree! The Metroliner was sold for £100 (or thereabouts) where as the freight rail runner was sold for £60. What lego really need to do is go down the Tomy style: Train packs and seperate track sets and controller. That way, you can buy a nice big train then have the incentive to buy the track, rather then go "£120? That's too much!" you can go "£80 for the train? kerching!". (or similar - I need caffiene!)
  12. Trains have already been confirmed...
  13. The pictures come from the instruction books - usually the last few pages of the set (or the last book in the set if they're more than 1) which feature a 'win a lego set' survey, different models which can be built with the set/play ideas, and then they're usually a diorama image (to make you buy more in the range!)
  14. can't wait till they're released...no sign of the impulse set(s) though? Looks like I might be buying a few of these! Have you seen the prices? enough to faint... The car looks more like a mobility scooter with roof to me
  15. I think the signal gantry was very good! Though I definately voted for something else...
  16. I agree. The lego shop closed in Birmingham in 2005, and i'd bought mine at least the year before it closed.
  17. It does look a little small for a WHOLE minifig to sit inside... maybe you could fit a legless one in instead? shamne minifigs aren't properly sized - when did you see a person with a head the same size as their body?
  18. It looks very good - I've been to Dar-Es-Salaam on the African east cost and it depends what area of the city your in - the older town centres bustle now and then (generally rush hour), but are actually generally empty except near main roads...so you've done a very good job. I admit a few more here or there would be better, but you don't have to add too many - the train station could do with a few, expecially...
  19. I do admit it's a nice design, though to me it's lacking something. The accessories are nice, though the phone booth thing doesn't look 'right'.
  20. It IS odd! It uses the old 2 1x2 brick hinge I haven't seen in years... And although it does work, it isn't that strong. Mind you, after building it, you're hardly going to play with it that much...
  21. monorail? Yes Please even more so than bringing back 9V trains (stuff the latter if a monorail is mooted)
  22. [bangs head against table] At least I can look forward to march, unless the impulse-type sets are available locally....
  23. ENTERED Here's my entry to category one: a small industrial train. Many cities all over the world (even if not in the present) feature(d) small industrial railways/railroads which woulds be worked by a company diesel hauling wagons to either be transferred to the main line or unloaded/loaded from/to wagons or depots on the main line. The train is lead by a 0-4-0 which is unpowered, but could be fitted with a PF motor, the battery and reciever for which could be mounted in a small van permenantly coupled to the loco. The train wagons comprise a Container Wagon (a similar one but only red/black) and a small tanker. I have been rebuilding the cointainers over and over again to obtain colour schemes; one container is coloured the same as the tanker, another a modified one from the World City Cargo Crane, another the same in the same colours as the loco (but 'mirrored') and a small open container carrying used doors. Apologies for poor picture quality - taking photos at 8 o'clock at night isn't a good idea...
  24. Ostritches are in the new Prince of persia line...
  25. I don't mind the look opf the sets for 2010 - though it would be nice if some of the stores around me had the smaller impulse sets - they're more useful to me than a large one... Airport & Aricraft For me, this is better than the previous 2006 edition - though i prefer the 2006 edition plane (7893) Farm This set looks like it's probably the only set I'll buy this year. Decent ammount of parts. If I can, I'll be buying the impulse set(s)... others & TRU Voted for If the roadplates are being made available, i might buy a few more. I'll see what the special is, first.... wishlist If lego are offering a warehouse/factory (or similar) i'll be buying it!
