  1. Or... You could just build a really big mountain like most model railroaders do and hide a massive staging area inside. That way things are out of way when they need to be and do not clutter your layout. Plus they are also some what "dust protected". Okay so as far as show and tell s concerned... Well you would have to run the thing like an automated machine. So maybe a couple feeder through lines and a billion side spurs for "sorting"... Just a thought... My 2 bricks
  2. I have to agree with the fact that LEGO is missing an opertunity here. The show has many a great thing that would be wonderfull if done in LEGO. Very much potential if done right. My personal opinion is that Sponge Bob should be dropped. It shouldn't even be considered a cartoon. Its a nice representation of some messed up minds working for nick. *n* xenologer, Did you mention Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle by chance? Now show me some fine master builder quality TRC sets, and I would be sold in a heartbeat (based off the manga that is-the anime was kiddi-ised). This brings up an idea I have for a I-Spy moc for a layout. Find the clueless out of place travelers. ;-)
  3. I am curious to know what little town in the middle of Europe (my guess is that it would be in Der Schweiz-Switzerland) has a very small train station which allows a person to convenaitly board a train to any of the listed locations. I mean come on TGV, ICE, EUROSTAR EXPRESS, Whatever AVE runs, you name it. How many TGV trains stop at little stations? I thought it was just major city main stations. X-D Otherwise a great set.
  4. As far as obtaining them in Europe, here is the page you would use: That is if you can read Deutsch! Big Ben Bricks 1000steine ordering/info page: http://www.1000steine.de/marktplatz/bbb/ Just a note: He lives in Portland Oregon so everything people have in Europe is shipped there. I hope that helps.
  5. Just to let you in on a little something: Gary McIntire, who was also the founder of ULUG (Utah LUG-and of which I am a member), was offered a part-time job last summer as a master builder for the Las Vegas addition. And after working for a few months (and missing all our meetings and shows), he was offered the position of Head master builder, which to our joy and sorrow he accepted. So now he lives in San Diego, and is no longer our president. 3D LEGO
  6. Humm very interesting, but highly unreasonable. Hobbes: HE IS????????
  7. To tell you the honest truth, I believe a lot of the older molders are wearing out. Rough textures on slope bricks are becoming smoother. Also some older designs are being updated. For example: The 6 wide window screen found on Luke's Landspeeder is also found on the old 12v red and black express train. Someone recently posted pictures of a new version. My guess is that there are issues with some designs and others are just plain wearing out. Now something else to consider. It is known that LEGO is/was converting their injection molding machines to a dye process to save on ABS. Since they would by the dye in bulk, the could get just one color of ABS pellets and add dye to obtain the desired color. Thus cutting costs. Also they have been changing the ABS compond they use. Originally it was really brittle and prone to lots of cracking and breaking. Take for example the 4 hole technic gear. It would fracture under small amouts of stress. Now that is a diffefent story. As for new slopes being smooth. It could be 2 reasons: 1.) All your MOCing of smooth things (especially the space guys) and the hand built roofs, have led LEGO to decide to remove the texture. or 2.) It is really hard to machine that texture into the mold.
  8. Here are some examples of Light green fire trucks. We have light green ones at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. How interesting... The set model is very simular to the Oshkosh one, except that it is yellow with dark red stripes.
  9. Just to clarify something for everyone. LDD does not use Direct X even though it mentions it in the system requirements. It is fully Open GL. The reason they put Direct X on the system requirements list is because most people don't even know what Open GL is. Also it states that you at least have a "Direct X 8 video Card" (again actually refering to Open GL). My guess is that they are using codecs from at least Open GL version 1.5 (IE GeForce 6 series) if not version 2.0 (IE GeForce 7 series). If so that would be the reason why people with GeForce FX (or 5 series) cards are having diffulcuty it running LDD. Upon inspection of LDD I noticed that "Ageia PhysX" is mentioned in the Credits, so my gess would probaly be Open Gl version 2.0 features are being used and thus have killed backwards compatibilty. Sorry Folks. But just to set things straight, there are a few major changes being implimented right now that are changing how graphics are handeled. For example: The introduction of wide-spread use of physics in model collision. So basiclly LDD could take full advantage of a Ageia PhysX card if one is intalled. Side Note: Nvidia Quadro cards are super workstation cards that include the "Workstation" extensions for Open Gl which are not inlcuded on normal cards. ATI's equvilent is the FireGL's. I hope all that makes since to everyone. 3D LEGO
  10. Hallo ulimy, Diese Stadt ist sch
  11. Because of whats "inside." Those are electronics that are usally not just handed out to everyone. Comeone think about it. A device that automaticlly adjusts to true north and compensates for interferance, and a device that can allways tell you which way is up, no matter what angle you are at. We are talking exspenive deivces here. Just be glad they are as cheap as they are. Also note the royalty fees and internation shipping.
  12. Just so we are all on the same page: Its a "MMOG" (Massive Multiplayer Online Game) that LEGO is making. Not a "MMORPG" (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) like wow. That requires a lot more and usally content is sacrificed for storyline. This will probally be more along the lines of a giant online virtual LEGO world in which pretty much anything is customizable (well except the terrian). So more like a place where your MOC's come to life and you controls the figs that operate and use them... Imagens: HUGE MECHA BATTLES!!! *sweet* Just think of all the BRICKAGE ! (Fancy for carnage, but with bricks-IE kiddy friendly fun) Or on the other hand wander through giant virtual versions of real cities or cruse through futuristic cities in the high tech methods of transportation. The possibilities are endless.. This brings back the old LEGO slogan: "Just Imagen! "
  13. If you haven't already looked at this, you should, because there is some very interesting infomation in it.
  14. Wow. Did anyone notice the green electric locomotive on the screen? Is that what we can expect in mach along with the new version of Lego Factory? The wait is killing me I tell you!
  15. I have that set, well that is I got it a long time ago, and now its part of my collection. I never had any troubles with it. I would suspect faultly pieces.
  16. Great job! Now if only we could replace the original yellow and dark red pieces with lime green and silver or white.
  17. Hey its Gary McIntire! He is the president of ULUG (UTAH LUG) of which I am a member. He is a fantasic builder. He got the job and subsquently has been there the past couple months at Legoland CA and still has a few more to go. He used to work for Dan Parker out of Seattle who is one of those guys who builds professionally with LEGO. Its great to hear about his progress and to see him mentioned in an article about it. I will have to pass this along to the other club members. Thanks for the find. 3D LEGO (AKA Jeffrey Jarvis-proud college student member of ULUG)
  18. Blue Spaceman Classic High tech Goodguy Citizen 2 Classicness 2 Technology 6 Team -4 Aggressiveness higher then 99% on all four catagories. Well thats me. :-/
  19. I will have to agree with Clone comander Nodra 999, thelarge drill vehicle looks vary simular to the Armadillo from Armegedon. Sorry I know the images are small but they show the detail of the model: "MT-101 Armored Drilling Unit" "the Armadillo from Armegedon" Also the gunship looks fairly simular to the guship for the UEF race in the upcoming PC game Supreme Commander: "The gunship" "the UEF Gunship from Supreme Commander" Overall I see great peice potental in these sets. Comeone who doesn't need more white and orange? Plus a little black.
  20. Total side note: My university's severs don't like the redirect to the main eurobricks page and blocked it for porn. That explains my long absence, but alas I found a way around it. Forum main page. How about this for an idea: Citizen pack. We have a city workers pack, why not one of just normal people. And to add to that a female fig pack to make up for the "lacking" of them. Think all ages from child to teen to adult and even old folks. But as far as 2007 is concerned. All I can say is oh wow! 8-
  21. Thats what I thought, since the first one had the right idea in mind, but stoped short of looking right since it was riding ontop. Now the newer rendetion, thats a beauty. As for the shed... Just make it bigger... ;-) Oh and for reference, American Locomotives are 10 Feet wide. So thats 3.048 meters. So thats a 1 stud overhang off each side of the tie. You see we move a whole lot more freight around and thus need bigger equipment.
  22. I'd say they are a cross between Aquazone and Divers. Very intresting idea. *y*
  23. I would say that over the last couple years Lego has been using several different supplyers, however most, if not all had issues with part quality so much so that it caused Lego a bunch of greif with all the complaints and having to fill all those special orders for missing, defective, or improper parts. My opinion is that all of those suppliers were given the exact part deminsions, however due to cost cutting mesures, the molds were inferior and inaccurate, plus the moulding process was not as high of a standard as Lego so that they produced poor quality parts. I believe that Lego cut all of the other suppliers when they found they could trust Flextronics for Lego quality standard parts that were accurate according to Lego's part deminsions. That and they found that Flextronics was will to produce them for resonable prices compared to the lower grade suppliers which charged more for inferior products. Thats my personal opinion. The almighty Google searchengine brings us this: Flextronics International Ltd http://www.flextronics.com/ I am happy to say i'm quite pleased with Lego's choice of supplier, since Flextronics is actually an electronics manufacturer(IE computers, circutboards, cellphones, ect...) so their quality stanards are 100 times better then any toy manufacturer. X-D *y*
  24. Thanks Hobbes, that worked. Admins you can close this Thread.
  25. So can anyone post this problem for me on Lugnet in CAD under raytracing? It would be much appreated. *sweet* Thanks for the commint, i'd work on it more, but I want to find out what is causing the problem. That and I am enjoying some super hot and incredibly humid weather right now. Oh and not to mention being out all week having fun...... X-D
