HoMa, That is looking really good. It makes me want to build my own and see how long of a PF powered train I can build. Though one thing bugs me... Why is the ICE3 running at slow speeds? Can we see a video of it running at full speed? Sonst echt schön! It is too bad DB decided to change the color scheme...

Fabulous, and with incredible detail. They are inspiring as each carries such an amazing story with it. Okay I think I went a little overboard there, but your minifigs inspired it.

Now that is really good news! We can add all the lights we want! And the light element is not that hard to come by (unlike the old 9v one). Truly a well thought out design. Now to get my hands on my own power functions setup. Side topic: The main reason I could see why they did not sell well was because just that, they were shop at home exclusives. I only got a BNSF because my mother saw the picture and was really impressed. And I got the big engine only because LEGO printed the wrong price on the LEGO club magazine. I think I saw the log car and maybe the caboose near Christmas time. And maybe once a tanker and that was in target were the smaller starter set was sold which had the blue passenger car in it. This was before the days of mass LEGO stores so unless someone was an avid LEGO fan who got the catalogs or was really good friends with someone who did, you never came across the sets period. But look at the Emerald Night and how many have bought it because of the LEGO stores?

LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
3D LEGO replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
WOW Look at all those unique parts! Why do I have to be a poor starving college student! I mean there is the amazing Afro, the minifig trophy, the aviator sunglasses head for the biker cop, the blue Binnie (not sure if it is new or not), the surf board, a microphone (those are handy for miniland concerts, and finally a real live Pharaoh and not just mummies. Who would have ever imagined this back in the day??? -
Nice job, though now it appears to be its very own mecha, mobile suit, or whatever they call them in Exo-Force. With that in mind it will definitely be needing a new name. Mabye X-35 Aero Guardian. However I could help but notice the striking resemblance to a dock-able space support system from the anime: Mobile Suit Gundam Seed. Here is the Aero Booster to compare with: The METEOR (Mobile suit Embedded Tactical EnfORcer) space pack: Okay maybe the METEOR is too extreme of an example since there are ones that are a bit smaller, like the Aerial Striker Pack from the same series. However the power of the METEOR is a 100 times that of the Aero Booster, literally. Not something for inner atmospheric fighting. But for cutting up capital ships in space and stopping barrages of ICBM sized nuclear missiles directed at unsuspecting space colonies then it is the right tool for the job. Those long cannon looking things can be either a cannon or a very long beam sabre.

Schöne Gruß Holger, I have a little question regarding the new motor: Does it allow you to do a triple axle arrangement? If so, then this will be a day of rejoicing for AFOL's everywhere! If it is true, then that means all those fabulous BR 103 E-locs could finally get the triple axle trucks they deserve.

Quoting myself: "Er... Mission control, this commander Johnsen: Who let my old girlfriend come on this mission?" Of course I did.
-
"Shuttle Adventure, this is mission control: You are clear for lift off. Begin countdown sequence immediately..." "Roger that mission control: Shuttle Adventure is ready for lift off." "Beginning countdown sequence:" 10...9...8... "Prepare ignition system"...7...6... "Er... Mission control, this commander Johnsen: Who let my old girlfriend come on this mission?" ...5... "Who knows, but it is too late to stop now."...4..."Activate ignition system"...3..."Well anyway have a nice trip commander Johnsen,"...2..."And enjoy your time in space..."...1..."Wait,... NOOOO!!!!"...0..."Blast off!" **Shuttle Adventure soars towards the sky shrinking ever so quickly from view,,,, A distorted faint radio message is heard by the mission control crew: "crAckle... Jameson,.. CracKle...I'll get you for this! CrAcKle CracKle" Oh the little details and what not. Truly the USAF Adventure is a magnificent ship. Too bad it never actually flew. Someone will need to print some Atlantis decals and apply them instead as memorial to the great space shuttle program. But alas we will have to wait to find out all of its fine features.

Modifying your LDD
3D LEGO replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The reality of it all is that even though LDD is a free program that anyone can download and use to design and submit models to LEGO for purchase, it is still based upon a publicly available engine code QSDK. Also there is that LDraw export/import function that mostly works. I guess what I am trying to say is, well we do have to be careful regarding laws, it is also interesting to note the approach that LEGO took. Can you say silver platter???? -
Be more specific: As in what exactly are you looking for. Rolling stock: Locomotives Designs: Steam, Diesel, Electric, Battery, Hybrid Passenger trains: Electric Multiple units [EMU], Diesel Multiple units [DMU], Unit trains [like Talgo cars], Single decker, Double decker Freight Wagons: Intermodel, Boxcars, Flatbeds, Spine cars [used to carry semi trailers], Hoppers, Tankers, Gondolas, Autoracks, Special transport [steel mill wagons], Special heavy transport, Maintenance of Way: Track machines, Catenary machines, Service vehicles, Construction equipment Buildings: Stations: Central stations, Stations, Depots, platforms Yard and Office structures: Round houses, Engine sheds, Maintenance shops, Washing stations, Water towers, Yard towers, Light poles, Refueling stations Freight depots: Freight depots, Loading docks, Intermodal yard, Grain silos, Lumber mill, Coal bunkers, etc Railroad structures: Trestles, Viaducts, Bridges [Truss, suspension, plate girder], Tunnel portals, Yard humps, Embankment reinforcement, Turntables, Elevated trackway, Catenary poles, Signaling And I could go on... So at least give this a look over and if there is something that interests you, then let us know and we would be more then happy to help you find examples of it.

Hey so I have a question: 1st, is the lower dark gray part of the locomotive cab on the freight electric locomotive a new piece/rendition of the old part used on the Metroliner/Yellow-black high speed train? Or is it already used somewhere else. And about the passenger train being like the Talent, here is the longer EMU version built by Bombardier that is used in Austria: But the paint job is DB!
-
If you look closely in other pictures, the Freight locomotive has axle wheels on the non-powered truck because all 4 wheels have the same sheen from a rubber band as the powered one. And the rechargeable battery? That is only more so of a confirmation that that they will come with the set. (unless they were using them just for show purposes.)
-
Great job! Overall solid construction. But there is one thing I noticed. You need hand rails on the sides of the locomotive. Oh I guess dark red arms would be kinda hard to come by, but I seem to think that there was either a star wars or exo-force set that had dark red droid arms.

I voted for the old track. There are currently a few things that you just can not build with the prefab sections like grease pits in engine shops, narrow gauge (yes I was actually toying with this the other day), and easily built turn tables which require not track modification (not to mention usage as crane rails, turntable guide rails and what not). Besides it would actually be cheaper for LEGO to produce. They could make a new rail mold and have so it rests on normal 2x8 plates. My fear with the prefab sections is that eventually the connectors will break (just like the droid arms on my poor marshen).
-
-The Hyphen-, Well I am not sure it is that exact motor. The same chassis idea yes, but if you got back and examine the picture more closely, there is clearly a cable attached to it, not something that has been shown before. Just my two cents.
-
Now that I think back, I believe I saw those types of crossings in Germany (I am referring to the new crossing set). Speaking of crossings, it sounds like it is long time for some additional new PF core pieces. Or in other words a small or even a mini PF motor with a 1.5v-3.v battery box for animating small things like oh switches and crossing gates and what not... And while they are at it maybe ether a mini control system or sensors! But even long cables and lots of polarity switches would work too! Well time to start saving folks!
-
So actually I am going to say it is based on this idea (another German one) of a leasing firm in Europe previously owned by Siemens. Dispolok: They have lots of yellow and gray, but unlike H. F. Wiebe they are used to move freight/passenger and not rail work. http://www.heidenauer-spotter.de/Loks%2002...%20Dispolok.jpg Oh and its electric! As far as the passenger train is concerned, it reminds me a lot of a FLIRT EMU (electric multiple unit) built by Stadler Rail AG in Switzerland. I rode these a lot in Northern Hessen and in Nordrhein-Westfalen. This is a typical 3 car setup. http://www.elektrolok.de/Estories/10_StadlerFlirt.JPG And the mov truck reminds of the mini multi-purpose excavators that are used extensively in europe for rail work.

Some one give this man a pedestal! And a medal! Very well done. I love the detail and the scaled proportions. All the the brain cells spent to figure out how to design the build paid off.
-
Well that was a good review. Though you are right about the little computer stand. I would have much rather had a bench and a flight information display. Oh well I will just have to make my own.
-
Very nicely done! Though it looks to me as if it would burn to the ground oh so quickly with all the exposed timber. "Menn! T'night to thie Kasle! We're goin to gett eben wit thie Duke wonce and fur all!... Oh and bringe ye pitch, tar, and yor Torches! I wunder how hie wuld like to sie hies lov'ly Kasle go oop in flaims?" (a bad attempt at old language)

By The Fans, For The Fans: The Great Spirit Set
3D LEGO replied to -Tilius-'s topic in LEGO Action Figures
I find this a fantastic idea. All this talk of Mata Nui and all one gets is a modified super toa gladiator version. Now lets see the real being, including his mask... @Toa Syaoran: Since when was Syaoran a Toa? He may be cool:... unless you thinking of more crossed dimensions here... -
Would "Stadtflitzer" have to have anything to do with a "Flitzerblitzer?" (Germans know what I am referring to). If so, that means it is basically a speed trap that involves a radar activated high speed camera to take a nice snapshot of your car's license plate for point deduction on your German federal driving record and as well as for mailing purposes of your new speeding fine. "Flitzerblitzer" means basically a flash camera speed trap. So in lame mans terms, a speed trap that mails you the bill along with a nice picture of you speeding in your car. Great for posterity's sake! They can be mobile as in a car with cameras in side that is just underway with the rest of the traffic or parked and pointed in a certain direction (IE on a sharp curve, or overlooking the lanes of the Autobahn from an overpass). A fixed position speed trap is called a "Blitzbox" which is a box containing the camera mounted on a pole at some place. (note: Not every box has a camera in it at all times... So watch out!). Thats it in a nutshell. If not, then I have no clue what the set might be.
-
Pefect! Und oh wie schoen! I will have to give it to you for making a wonderful model of the most amazing modular truck ever invented. Too bad you can not buy them here in America. Can you favor us with a nice rendition in "Stadtwerk Orange"??? Once I saw this I now have the urge to build one my self, except the new model.

"NOOooo!!!... Not down sizing already!..." **sob Walks home hanging head low...** "?!" "Whats this?! What are they building here???!!" ** **
