Yea´h, that looks pretty neat, I really dig the houses with the gables towards the street front. I too tried to produce stuff like that but just recently took it apart because I needed the parts for another project. However, the good thing about Gdansk is, that the Polish rebuild it the way it looked in the 18th century. (before we Prussians/Germans took posession of it). What's missing in your moc tough, is a kind of front Porch the merchant houses have in Gdansk, it really adds to their specific flavor.

Hi there, I'm currently working on my first fully custom rigged ship (it's a pain in the megablocks) and I'm getting more and more frustrated with the Lego prefab crow's nests, to me they seem to large and arkward and not at the right position.(at least for a ketch) Anyway, it's always kinda hard to guess from the many moc pictures how to do custom made crow's nests and so I was wondering, whether the pro builders would be wiling to share their secrets with the humble beginners ...

Well, I'm very interested in history, too. That doesn't mean however, that I'd spoil a TOY!! with this! I'd really like the mods to remove this brainless crap!

So what about Hitler? I don't get it! What's this strange fascination a number of English and Americans have with these 12 years of our history, and why do you put yourself in the line with the world's most evil villian? Now I think it's really odd, many of us Germans are trying really hard to be trustworthy world citizens, and still are often considered nazis. Just take a look at any SUN or likewise dumbing "newspaper" and you'll see what I mean. Or any goddam football match in which German players are often described as tanks and their tactics as "Blitzkrieg" - on the other hand, prince Harry and the like can go to a costume party as Nazi, and everything is just a joke - you know, this kind of "humor" actually makes me really mad! Besides, Hitler was not a Prussian!!!

just to underline what I had said about the Prussian navy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_Navy

fräulein schwarz is allright for miss black, but it's definetely schwarz without an 'e', however, since your keyboards don't have the 'ä' you would have to spell it fraeulein, in order to be accurate nonetheless, fräulein is really old, nobody uses it anymore as for the ship, well prussia didn't really have much of an impressive navy during the 18th century, so a small ship would be more likely than any gigantic frigade

LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
kabel replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
ever since I saw the pictures I was dead sure that I wanted the Mexican, and dang, today I got it, and it's quiet easy to feel the sombrero through the bag, so I didn't have to buy any of the others, and yes, it's simply one of the best minifigs ever!! -
As for myself, I don't think that POTC will be a real substitute for the real pirates, but I fear that that's all we'll get in the next years
-
i think it would be really cool if you could create something likethis: it's the Crane-Gate, one of the historic landmarks of Gdansk, one of my favourite cities worldwide, and i guess that in the time frame that we're talking about, this would have been one of the larger cranes ... edit. link fix

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
kabel replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
what would bug me most about a possible potc line is, that we've had pirates for a decent price for about twenty years now, all of the sudden tlg puts a potc label on it and we pay considerably more for what we used to get for a fair price, just because of some fleshy heads? i would definetely not buy a single potc set, not because i can't afford it, but more because i think it's pretty much a rip off, and i'd hate to support that with my dough -
wow, this is clearly recognizeable as an icarus, the bus of my east german childhood, love it!!!

question to the officíals: is my moc (battle of trenton) in or not, as has been said, it doesn't depcit any actual fighting, however, it encompasses what most people today still remember from this battle, which wasn't very bloody, but extremely important for american history
-
I'm absolutely aware of the fact, that washington landed some 16 miles further up river, at what's now called washington's crossing. I'm also aware, that the hessian privates weren't quite as drunk as always depicted. However, the battle itself was actually rather unspectacular with the hessians fleeing in terror and the americans running behind them, only having two casualties due to frozen feet. What's left in the public imagination though (in the us as well as here in hessia) is Washington crossing the river and Rall ignoring all warnings because he was too busy gambling and drinking with some British officers. That's why i choose to put these two events, actually taking place miles apart from each other, into one moc. Maybe we should let the jury decide whether it's within the rules or not. If not fine, as I know my limitations, I wasn't considering winning 1st or 2nd anyway, and did this moc in order to improve my skills. So long, kabel
-
actually i just saw some pictures of reenactments dipciting the war of independence in which the americans sometimes wore red bandanas
-
looking pretty good so far. where did you get all those nice windows? i can't seem to finde them anywhere for a reasonable price there is one thing i would change though, make the roof to hang over the wall by one stud, otherwise the rain is going to run down the facade and spoil the colors there
-
well, i guess for today i am, i sort of ran out of ideas on how to improve, maybe the texture of the taverns wall would be something to work on, however, i got to much work to do, so i can't spend much more time with this project
