  1. Okay, this is just a small update, but in the meantime I've been working on somthing else, anyway ... What I worked on recently, is to get all the deck structures somehow translated to LEGO and I also started placing the masts ... more pics of course on my brickshelf account
  2. another extended weekend, can't wait to see what you come up with over the time ...
  3. wow, really cool set, I hope it's not going to more than € 10,- because this is definetely a good parts set. I think I have to get several of those. BTW, are those cheeseslope + 2*1plate bricks new? I think they'll be just great!
  4. already looking really good, but for my taste the walls are a little too high
  5. I think the hight of the mountain is totally cool and therefore not the problem. So keep the mountain and maybe make the road more winding up that hill back and forth (you know, Serpentinen - don't know the word in English)
  6. well, in my hometown, located in Germany's Harz mountains, we actually have quite a huge variety of colors, including a lot of orange and yellow, and somtimes green half timber structures, such as these: or these: and altough some of these were added in later years, a lot of them are quite original However, I really like your new buildings, they look very English indeed
  7. Yes, nice update, so what are you going to do with those cables? btw - I like this so much, that I finally got my first castle sets and started building my first medieval moc, although not that large ..
  8. i totally dig huge mocs, so go ahead, expand, it's great!!
  9. I definetely love the idea, clippers being the coolest ships that were ever made. However, I would probably do it with the small hulls, thus making the ship even sleeker in comparison to the other ships we are building on the big prefabs. But maybe this is just a matter of taste.
  10. althought it's been said before, I really like how you included all those collectable minifigs. I would have never expected that they make such nice additions to almost anything. I gues I now have to buy more of them as well
  11. awesome creation, and I espicially like all the action that is going on inside the fort with all those crazy little details, and what made me laugh the most was the lantern created out of canibal skalps, excellent work!
  12. thank you guys for your constructive criticism, I guess that actually helps more than any possible ohs and ahs, but anyway, @Admiral C.: well yes, the window frame isn't quite there yet, it's just really a pain in the butt as I said before. So for now I settled on this kinda preliminary design. We'll see how I can change it, but true inspiration hasn't really hit me yet. @Aalak: I'm actually more or less doing a fusion between this modelwhich is said to be the most acurate, and of course the "official" replicawhich is also said to be close to the original. On both you can see that the deck's edges and all the structures on deck are kept in red, so that was not my choice. However, all the red plates you can still see in the images will of course eventually be covered by tan tiles, mostly. As for moving the window one stud forward, I thought about it too. The problem is though that I would have to leave out some of the details on the deck, as I'm using only four midsections. So maybe using five midsections would solve that problem, but then again, the ship wouldn't fit the proportions anymore.
  13. new update (what's better, keeping all the pics in one post or making a new post for every update?): the stern getting there: Cook checking the progress of turning the "Earl of Pembroke" into the "Endeavour": the way if fixed the window problem (no decals yet and the white slope will be replace by a brown one): overall view: excuse the poor quality of the pics, my dig is a piece of crap, I normally still photograph with film
  14. I was impatiently waiting for this update, now I can go to bed! no seriously, as many here I'm really excited about this project and am quite curious about how you are progressing. Interesting techniques and all just very creative! BTW, are you planning to make beech trees? I think the grey log bricks should be excellent for that
  15. thanks for the blogging, only my second so far and quite motivating as for the stern window covers, as was planning to use this piece , and just found out that they need a different counter part, wich I do have in store, altoough not in blue
  16. just added an update. I took several of your considerations in and am currently out of the right bricks or merely waiting for bl and pab orders to arrive. In the meanwhile tough, I experimented with some ideas in wrong colors
  17. man, that thing is massive! I'd really love to see it in real when it's finished ...
  18. Thank you guys for the povitive feedback! I did indeed try to get the Mexicans' love for color across and relied on my impressions of Mazatlan and Oaxaca, or course Google streetview helped a lot too And yes, the first moment that I saw the Mexican I thought "Viva Zapata", however, this moc is actually meant to take place a little time before the Mexican revolution.
  19. well, first of all, I'm glad it's not LDD!!! (I don't know how others feel about it. But lately I've become a little annoyed by the ever growing number of LDD mocs. Couldn't there be a sprecial section for them?) that said, I have to say that I really like your unique technique, it might come in usefull when creating something that doesn't fit the prefab hulls ... however, I do think that maybe your ship looks a little to thin for a proper brig, so far it seems more like a yacht or a cutter to me
  20. Originally this was intended to become much bigger, however, I need the bricks for a different project, but anyways, here's my depcition of a typical day in late 19th century Mexico: more pics on Brickshelfwhen public
  21. Hey there, now first at all, I really like your ships, they are coming along quite fine. However, for this one I would suggest that you use the small prefab hulls with maybe three midsections. This ship on the large prefabs looks a little too stubby for may taste PS: I wish I was still living in Berlin as I once did ...
  22. Tank you guys for all the help. I'll see what I can take into consideration. However, so far i've left this part out, since I'm doing this next to my work that sits on the other desk, this is too much of a headache yet ...
  23. As far as I'm concerned, this really looks awesome already, in other words: really intimidating when concidering one's own abilties I'm really looking forward the finished result though!!
  24. Don't get me wrong, I meant to say, that I appreciate your fondness!! That's why I asked wether you were an AP student.
  25. One can clearly see that you put a lot of effort into this and, to be honest, most Americans I've met so far (been there for two years) didn't know very much about European history. Are you in an AP class? However, the higher you get with your model, the more it looks like you completely reversed the typcial shape of any vessel which should be round and stubby at the bow and getting thin and rather pointed towards the stern. You definetely need to fix this, otherwise it looks really odd. Anyway, keep up the work, and maybe you start getting cheap bricks on ebay so that one day you can build things in real!
