unlike others i'm really annoyed by the collapsable mast, as well as by the entire rigging, two sails just doesn't seem right i don't know what the situation in the states is like, but here in germany you can shoot this set for a pretty good price these days, and there are plenty of them being sold right now, i got myself two slightly incomplete sets for less than 15 € each

I'd like to go for the mason's shop, and by the way, what's the time frame for this project?
-
vasa all the way
-
@ch: so the one with the small hull, is that going to be your sloop of war? and how many mid-sections does it contain?
-
sorry for the dust, in real it doesn't look that horrible, so i didn't clean it, but yes, photographed it's just plain buttugly, i have to admit that the rum is stored in the front, i added another picture, so that this becomes more visible the combination of white and green is actually a combination i've seen on numerous other ships, altough it admittedly is more of a modern color, problem is, i don't have that many brown or tan plates to change that
-
yeah, cloth would be nicer, this was just a first try, as for the rum, there are only four barrels left, they traded the rest
-
constructive criticism welcome of course edit: changed links, added more

this only shows that you have no clue about native american culture whatsoever. and what freaks me out the most, is that the totem poles are always placed with the plains indians, which is of course complete megablocks. none but the tribes of the pacific nort west had totem poles, and they were not placed inftront of tepees but infront of some nicely decorated longhouses
-
some pacific northwest native americans would be really cool, they had really amazing houses, excellent art and the nicest canoes in all of north america

i really like this castle, especially the back side is really nice, and all the nice techniques, however, it looks more like a rennaissance oder even baroque castle rather than an mediaevel one, that doesn't take away its beauty though
-
well, i have to say that i really like most of the parst in this set, especially the ark and all the brown pieces, i just saw the set for 35 euros and i was tempted, however, i have to admit that the fleshy minifig heads look rather crappy, altough the mustaches are quite cool
-
hi there, i just recently stumbled across the 7197 set and really like the boats. however, since i don't care much for the indy theme i was wandering, whether it was possible to use the hull pieces in order to build smaller ships for the pirate theme. maybe something like the trading ship oder a small one masted pirate ship. so here's my question: do you think that the parts are usefull or would ít be a waste of money to buy the set? and has anyone attemted something like this before?
-
interesting, i have never seen these larger rowing boats before, what set are they from?
-
besides it beeing great and all, is there anyone else who thinks that it does look kinda chunky? i especially don't like the bow, the rest is allright though

The worst thing that can happen to a LEGO Pirate collector
kabel replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
i'm sorry, but i guess the only way to prevent further damage is to shoot your puppy! -
fooling around with the classic themes is what brought lego close to bankrupcy back in 2003/2004 so i really wonder why they are doing it again as for myself, i was about ready to switch from collecting city to collecting pirates, especially since i though there would be add ons for the modularized fortress, and i also wanted to buy a smaller empirial ship, but with this decission and the crappy new city sets i'm rather desillusioned as i was back in the nineties when the f***** up the city theme

now how's that to intimidate if it so much reminds one of the VASA, and we all know what happened to that ship ...
-
wow, i really like how you customize minifigs, what kind of material do you use for the news skins, paper? i'm pretty to the topic, so forigive if i ask a stupid question what do you guys think of a book review thread, or index? i'm sure we could all suggest great books for inspiration, well at least I have several ideas for some nice book reviews fitting the pirates theme
-
interesting, i#m proceding the exact opposite way, i'm building mocs in order to complement the lego originals, my only problem is, that i still prefer to photograph with an analog cam, so i can't show any pictures of my mocs
-
oh yeah, thank you! i still think there are too many cops in the layout tough, but i guess that's gotta be a bavarian (becksteinian) thing, here in prussia we're more relaxed i guess as for the houses, maybe you should consider getting some of those big buckets full of bricks, and some of the extra roof bricks and doors/windows and start building some houses of your own, the buckets are obtainable at real for a pretty good price these days
-
does anyone know what happened to this project?
-
seven cops in riot gear vs. seven peaceful protestors? what a damn police state! other than that, it's a rather nice town, it's missing some houses to live in though
