  1. please feel free to comment on my shipyard MOC. The cog itself still needs some construction and will be entered here in the ship mini challange.
  2. I've always liked both pirates and castle. So I decided to actually unite the two topics in one MOC and thus came up with this shipyard+cog wip. Story: Somewhere along the Northwestern Mitgardian coast carpenters are putting together a cog in order to start trading. The shipyard is hidden in a fjord and supervised by Steen Larsson (who finally grew a beard) high on a cliff. Let's hope we can finish this construction in peace and start trading in order to enhance the wealth of Mitgardia. more pics on my brickshelf when public. PS: It'd be great if someone could give me advice on how to improve my picture taking abilities
  3. Fellow Mitgardians, I don't know whether you realized this, but given the fact that we earned more gold than the other guilds, I'd say that we won the watchtower challange!! Hooray to our great leader Jarl Nibelung and to all you my frozen fellows!!
  4. I feel honored having inspired you, and this one looks even better, as I think dark tan looks even better than yellow. I also like you have an interior, mine doesn't have one
  5. Embassies or trade missions in Stoneroda are welcome. I myself would like to send my trade cog to a trade mission that I would like to build somewhere in coastal Khaliphlin.
  6. Now how cool is that, I am currently building a moc of a hanseatic trade cog ...
  7. some good ideas already, I like the landscaping for instance. However, I really am not so sure about the ships. They look a little too simple for my taste.
  8. The things is, I'm still in the process of planning it, but go ahead, feel free to roam there and build on my grounds. And if you could get yourself to get some real LEGO, it'd be even better!!
  9. yeah, the walls are made of 1x2 and 1x1 red, dark red and orange plates. I've actually played around with only red plates for quite a while. But that never looked good. So I just took a look at some brick walls in town, and found that the bricks never come in the same color. Some are darker, a few appear really orangen, whereas some remain red. Here are some interesting pictures of this phenomenom.
  10. Well, at least you could have asked me whether it is ok to use my village's name, as this is the place where my character, Steen Larsson, is from. But go ahead, I gues there is plenty of room for more folks. Keep in mind though, Helgestorp is set in the forest and more of lumber/carpenter village:
  11. thanks a lot for your positive feedback. I really loved doing this and I'm thinking about expanding this moc. I originally just wanted to test my brickwork on a typical brick building but I guess I just caught the modular virus. The other thing is that I totally love everything 1930s outside of Germany, especially if it is American. With which I mean, cars, fashion, architecture, etc. @LGG: You know, it's officially a juice bar @lt: the truck is modeled after an OPEL Blitz, a ture legend on wheels, and I just assumed GM also produced it in the US
  12. Man, I really like your style, and this moc is no exception from this rule. So many nice details and such lovely structures. I especially like the round tower. For me this is one of the best round towers I've seen so far. Great Job!!
  13. B-OM-8E & V-LV-42E Hey there, with both Castle and Pirates being licensed now, I gues I have to spend more time here ... Anyway, here is my first attempt at creating something modular. I modeled the scene after some houses found around Seattle's Pioneer Square area, but I guess this could be anywhere in the US. The scene is set during the early 1930s prohibition time: Overall view: Front view: The driver of the truck is smuggeling beer, that's why chooses not to be photographed: downstairs, "fruity" bevarages are being sold: upstairs, two gentlemen are playing pool with a lady watching them: view from behind, showing my new "brick technique" transferred to a larger building: Hope you all like it and feel free to tell me what could be improved!!
  14. Thank You very much Jarl Nibelung for naming me Royal Architect of Midgardia. You shall see that you will not be disappointed by this decission!!
  15. okay, skoda is owned by VW, but the Czech would be really upset if you considered the brand anything else but Czech, since at least the desig is done there ... @lt: Anyway, I'm missing the element of water in your moc, so I'd like to challenge you with this waterfront, which seems to be so Denmark to me (although I know it's CPH)
  16. there is a whole lot of cool stuff going on in this guild. So welcome all new members and congrats to all of those who build new mocs!! What I'm wondering about though is, what is happening to the towers competition. I mean December 15th has been over for a few days now ...
  17. well, this is all pretty bad news, pirates and castle both licensed, means TLG isn't getting any more money from me over the next years!!!
  18. Well, being taken speachless there aint much I could possibly say except for: Hail Jarl Nibelung, the great leader of our glorious Mitgardia Guild!!
  19. I really like to play Baldur's Gate too, although personally I'm not a big fan of the drow. That said, I do think though, that your drow creations are awesome nonetheless. The sheer size of your mocs is hardly machted by anyone!!
  20. Although I always thought Moria was an underground city I still think that this is really one of the best towers we have seen in this challange!! I especially like the roof, all the cheese slopes, absolutely beautiful!!
  21. thanks for the positive feedback so far. More criticism would help too though. I actually do admit that some things look rather odd, for instance some of the color scemes. However, I actually researched the topic, and asked a friend of mine who is a master carpenter specialized in reconstructing half timbered houses. He says that houses in medieval times were indeed colorful. The problem is of course, that Lego colors itself are really extreme and therefore it will always look a little exeggareted. Although I do admit, that I should have used dark blue/dark green instead of blue and a different kind of yellow too. They are really expensive to come by though. Another thing that may look odd are the roof color scemes. They are to represent the mix of slate and clay roof tiles found in my city, clay tiles and bricks coming up there around the 14th/15th century. And clay roof tiles come in all kinds of colors. As can be seen in this picture: What may also be unsual is that the houses face the street wiht the roof and not the gable. Houses with their gable towards the street are more of a south German thing though. North German houses were also much more humble. My largest flaw however, are my mediocre digital photography skills, I know that.
  22. well, thanks for at least you three commenting on this, I know the pics sucked somewhat, but I didn't think the build itself was that boring, but anyway, I retook some of the images, as I realized my camera messed up the colors @christop: timbers turned into figures is a feature found on some of the houses in my hometown, so when I saw the microfigs I immediatly knew what they were good for: @etzel: while I had the grey bricks store, I didn't know it would take that many red and dark red plates to make the peasant house, I think there are some 150 1*1s and 2*1s or so in this building
  23. wow, this is really awesome, it's as norse as a moc could possibly be, I like a lot of things about it!! Anyways, I've also been buisy: more pics here and here
  24. This is the second part of this MOC and I've been building on it since August. However, I'd still like to dedicate this to the Mitdgardian cause, as it simply fits the story and the whole Guild action too well. So here it is, the second part of my city evolution series: overview: the entrance to the city: mitgardian recruits passing through town: the mayor's house a peasant build his house just outside the city walls secret cave entrance: more pics on brickshelf when public
