  1. (OOC: Long Range weapons have an optimal range of three squares away from the wielder. You can still attack enemies outside or inside your range, but you'll take a scaling negative (-1 per square) for every square off they are. Currently attacking Hawks A through C from your position will net you a -1 to the attack due to them all being one square inside your optimal range.)
  2. "Kids these days have no respect. Back in MY day..."
  3. There was a moment of silence, during which Enson's posture seemed to stiffen slightly. That came to an end when he turned to face Polaris with an unnervingly blank expression. "Miss Polaris," he said, pulling on one of his absurd mittens, "I have seen the bodies of people who were caught in train wrecks without squirming. I have also seen people shot, stabbed, blown up, run over, crushed, cut open, and otherwise gruesomely slain, and have even done a few of those things myself from time to time." He pulled on another mitten. "My statement just now," he continued, "was in reference to the factual incorrectness of your assertion. People do not explode violently in a vacuum - unlike, say, balloons, which are both considerably more fragile and have a much higher internal pressure." He donned a third mitten. "Unlike balloons, people have bodies that are quite capable of keeping their insides inside by applying pressure to their contents, though civilization has devised a great many means of circumventing that." he said as he donned his final mitten. "While holding one's breath in a vacuum will cause lung damage, it will not violently rupture the organ, nor will a person's blood instantly freeze or boil thanks to retained body heat and the aforementioned pressure. One's unpressurised saliva however will start boiling very quickly, around the same time one passes out from lack of blood oxygenation." He flicked open his sunglasses and slid them onto his face. "The sudden extended lack of external pressure will result in very slight expansion, but the most that results in is a severe case of the bends. And of course there is the severe sunburn from being exposed to unfiltered solar radiation." He tightened his scarf around his neck. "All in all, do not call me squeamish. I didn't fight in the Civil War for nothing you know. Now I believe we have a sled team to hire." With that he strode out the doo- "Ah." "Phooey." Recovering from the loss of wind in his sails, Enson immediately made the unfounded assumption that he was in charge and began barking orders. "Decker, stay where you are! Ronin, protect Aysu! Polaris... keep doing that, good idea." Enson will move to E2 and attack Hawk D. @Peppermint_M @Yzalirk @Endgame (OOC: Decker can attack Hawk F just as well from where he is, moving there will only isolate him from support. Aysu is in a much worse position, having no Melee capability and being out of optimal range of every enemy except D. If possible I recommend Ronin moving to D3 and attacking Hawk C first, with Aysu moving to D4 before making her attack.)
  4. "Indeed." said Enson, rolling up the map. "If no-one has any further questions, I suggest we move on to finding a guide. Oh, and may I keep this?" He held the map before Mervin. "If you do not mind, I think this would come in very handy."
  5. "That's not..." Enson shook his head, "...nevermind."
  6. "So you think we should circle back along our route once we've seen every area? Seems reasonable enough, I'll take it under advisement." "I mean," Enson spread his hands, "calling space cold is something of a misnomer, what with there being no atmosphere. If anything space is hot because..." At this point Enson realized he was lecturing to someone who had spent most of their life in space. "...but I'm being pedantic. Yes, pretty much anything can be found in a frozen state in space. But I assure you," he smiled, "if it were that cold here we'd all already be dead."
  7. Enson bowed. "I personally am well prepared, I even brought sunglasses." Enson stood pensively looking over the map for a moment. After a few seconds he leaned forward and said "If no-one has any objections, my suggestion is we head due east towards the Scjálftosten Pass and then circle clockwise around Lake... Hrienea? - I'm sorry, it's very hard to read blue-on-blue, - Hitting all these places as we go." As he spoke he indicated the named locations with his finger. "Afterwards we return to Vindkoss. Is that satisfactory? Any comments or suggestions?"
  8. @CMP Magnifique. Enson makes a kawaii pose with the most bored expression possible.
  9. "I presume water. If it was cold enough to freeze other compounds we would have more problems than a few predators." @Waterbrick Down Turning to Mervin he said "Excuse me, you mentioned a 'rime drake' earlier? Would you mind explaining what happened with it? Do you think it's connected to the current situation?"
  10. Resolving to keep Ronin's little deception to himself for now, Enson concentrated on the Cricet's story. He frowned as Mervin's account concluded. "Pardon me, but you speak of this situation as if it's unusual. I assume that there's been some sort of ecological disruption recently in order to drive so many predators away from their natural hunting grounds. Do you have any idea what that might be? And while I'm asking questions, how large a stretch of the course is effected by this? I don't think five people is enough to cover the entire course, though I may be mistaken."
  11. "It's easier when you grow up with names like that. But yes, most people do use the shorter version." Remembering how reticent Ronin was in the Hall, Enson will make an opposed Insight check.
  12. Thank you! I very much wanted to play a character who gets along well with others, and mechanically I wanted to focus on support, so I'm glad that all comes across well.
  13. The more I think about it, the more I dislike Turn Unholy. Consider: If an MM creates a mission revolving around a single unholy entity, then a Priest could conceivably use this action constantly to blast that entity into oblivion in a swift and anticlimactic manner. This would of course incentivize MM's to raise its Smarts attribute high enough to at least partially stymie this action. Conversely, Turn Unholy becomes less effective against large numbers of unholy enemies, as the check is made against all their Smarts combined. This means that it is both less likely to succeed and will do less damage if it does. Now, there are some things in the game that work sort of like this, but Turn Unholy stands out because of how situational it is. Demons are not going to be something people face as often as robots, spellcasters, and ordinary people. As the Priest won't get to use the action as often, I feel it ought to have some degree of effectiveness when used, but won't be able to just defeat the main boss by itself. Therefore, I propose an alternative: Compelling Power (Action) - Make a Religion Check vs. unholy (MM discretion) targets' Smarts. On a Win, each target that failed is either Blinded, Frightened, Restrained, or Silenced (Choose one when taking action). Possible Restriction; Each effect can only be applied to a target in this manner once per battle. (Each target separately, so if you failed to get a specific effect on a specific target, you can try again)
  14. I had an entirely legitimate reason, I just stole it from someone else.
  15. That seems better, but- -I think giving them the current effects of the 'Tinkering Hands' trait and making this change to the Engineer is my preferred solution. Better, but as not all undead are actually going to be evil I'm not sure about having it automatically apply to all of them. At the moment I'm leaning towards a generic 'unholy' category at the MM's discretion. I should note however that this ability has the potential to seriously mess with any horror themed missions an MM might want to run.
  16. Probably. I was thinking of that 'combining consumables' suggestion of yours but I'm willing to go in other directions. That seems fine for the most part, but there aren't really enough negative effect consumables (none in fact) to justify having a class for them. Would it be better to make the Alchemist a general consumable buffer and have the Engineer focus on Tools instead? I actually think they're fine. Even without enemy types the descriptions are explicit enough that MMs will find it easy to determine what is and isn't affected by them. Though now you mention it, the Priest might need some changes. I'd at least like their current action to target more than just demons. There, I've made a string of edits to the various classes. See what you think.
  17. @Waterbrick Down After all this time, I've realized that I don't like the Medic's 'Exploitable Anatomy' trait, I don't think it fits either the role or the theme of the class. I'd much rather replace it with the Chemist's 'Proper Dosage' if that's all right with you.
  18. They're already organized alphabetically, so no big deal there. However there is one thing I'd like to do before you go ahead and add them.
  19. @samurai-turtle Enson gave a short laugh at Polaris's struggles with his name. "Please, miss," he said, "you can use the short form of my name if you want. I'm not a stickler for protocol." "Coffee please, as black as you can make it."
  20. Enson entered the establishment blowing and stamping his feet to keep warm, loosening his heavy scarf and removing the two pairs of (rather absurd looking) mittens he was wearing in the process. As he heard the music he smiled effusively, clearly enjoying it immensely. Upon being addressed by the Cricet however, his face assumed a more reserved expression and he clasped his hands before himself, bowing deeply as he did so. "Greetings sir," he said, "I am Ensonvilterayquis, Enson if you prefer, at your service." He straightened up. "Would I be correct in assuming you are Mervin Softpaw? We were told we could find you, them, here."
  21. When your character dies you keep all the CP you accrued but loose all equipment you had. You then gain a new starting package, yes. It's up to you at that point weather you want to 'rebuild' your old character or create a new one. Exactly. There's no reason someone can't play 'death' as being critically injured and having to be put in intensive care for a bit.
  22. In other news, greetings @Alix!
  23. This seems like the simplest and most logical solution. Though I'd make it being stabilized rather than being revived that puts your character out of danger. I like the distinction between 'in no danger' and 'useful' it provides.
  24. Thank you all for understanding. That was a lovely game and I'm sorry that it ended the way it did.
  25. Ducking slightly as he entered the room, Enson looked about himself for a moment before spotting the Adamite. "Don't mind me Roderick," he called out, "I'm just here to pick up some reading material." Sifting though a small selection, he picked out a cold-weather survival guide and a medical journal, bowed to Roderick, and retired from the room. Start: +3 CP Survival: 0 -- 1 (1CP) Medicine: 1 -- 2 (2CP)
