  1. You don't need to go that far. Simply add 'you may not apply this bonus multiple times to the same character'. Removes most of the silliness, keeps uses from being wasted, and still allows multiple people to pour their actions into a single character.
  2. The closest thing I have to a plan is a vague idea that some of us might attempt a combined check next round to restrain the creature, but I don't think it would be ultimately that effective. Normally I just come up with ideas for each round as they happen. That said, I will admit that what I'm suggesting now is for all of us to get as far away from the water as we can so it has to come on land where it won't have an advantage on us.
  3. Even if WBD won't let you move into a space until it's vacated that doesn't matter. Since both you and Aysu have the same result on your initiative check (0 successes) I can simply change the order you two act in, which I just did. Also, can you link to the specific thing you're referencing? I can't find it. As for actions, just off the top of my head you can: Rally an ally, Defend an ally, Defend yourself, Switch Weapons, Attempt a Nature Check to magically commune with the chillodile and make it friends? Attempt a Medicine Check to spot weaknesses in crocogator we can exploit, Attempt a ??? Check to ??? If you're having trouble thinking of what actions to take, I'd recommend creating a cheat sheet of the combat actions you can take that you can reference quickly while deciding what to do.
  4. I chose the position I did to make sure the Gator couldn't hit anyone but me from a water tile. As for action order, Decker is actually going before you, and you can still move into Aysu's space so long as you don't both end the turn there. However as it seems to bother you- Round 2 Initiative Order Enson Decker Ronin Aysu Polaris -I can just shuffle you around a bit, as you, Ronin, and Aysu all share the same initiative result. Is that good? Also, are you sure you don't want to take any actions this round? There's a whole host of things you can do.
  5. @Waterbrick Down, what happened to the part of the rules about combined checks?
  6. "Decker, the point is to lure it onto the land. It's not coming up here if it can hit you from the water." Enson will cast Sustaining Healing on Decker. @samurai-turtle @Peppermint_M @Yzalirk @Endgame My recommendation for this round is that Decker move to A2, Aysu moves to A1, and Polaris moves to B1. After that I'd say Ronin Rallies Decker while everyone else do something to prepare for the next round; Defend, switch weapons, make a proficiency check, cast a spell, whatever.
  7. Enson, recalling an oft-repeated detail from every documentary about crocodilians, attempts to wedge his hammer into the Gator's jaws before moving to C1.
  8. @Waterbrick Down Decker, A3 Ronin, B2 Aysu, B1 Polaris, D2 Enson, C3
  9. (OoC: No. Only off-mission. Also, @Waterbrick Down, the rules specifically state that 'battle formation is set by the party leader prior to combat'. I haven't been bringing it up so far as we've been repeatedly surprised, but since we're setting this fight up ourselves I'd like to take advantage of it.)
  10. "Well, I cannot think of anything else. I think you should all stand back though, it seems this is a rather large specimen if I am hearing Aysu correctly." Enson will head to the edge of the water and splash about with his hammer.
  11. "Well I'd rather not like to fight that in the water. Do you think there is anything we can do to lure it onto the land?"
  12. OoC: I think you misunderstand. As far as I can tell, the party all moves together, but can't move from one part of a floe to another.
  13. "I'm not being any harsher on myself then I deserve, merely acknowledging a minor lapse in judgement. As I seem to have usurped the position of leader from any other potential hopefuls it is imperative that I maintain a firm understanding of my own behavior." Enson will cast Sustaining Healing on himself and continue Meditating.
  14. "If anyone here is at fault, it would be me. I guessed it might be an ambush, but I failed to act on that properly. In future I think it would be best to follow your advice and check beforehand, and I certainly should have asked my companions to take up defensive positions instead of hanging back." Having said this, Enson will cast Sustaining Healing on Ronin and continue to Meditate.
  15. Enson waved his hand. "I've heard of spiders that use the husks of their prey as puppets to lure in more victims. This isn't too different, and quite frankly the addition of the crashed speeder isn't that out of place. They make weapons - not tools, weapons - and wear clothes. They're clearly more intelligent then I think you're giving them credit for." He turned to face Sigrún. "Well," he said, "I seem to remember we were heading for the pass, unless this is it. In that case I'd actually like to swing by the lake briefly."
  16. @Waterbrick Down Shouldn't the Intimidation attempt have used my action? "Oh just..." Enson tried to speak, but his voice was so hoarse that he could barely get the words out. Holding up a hand to indicate he wasn't finished, he reached into his pocket, withdrew a canteen, and took a quick swig from it. With a cough he replaced the item and said "Just leave it. There's no-one here for it to harm and it'll burn itself out eventually." Taking a moment to assess the situation, he sighed and made his way back to the sled. Upon reaching it he sat down cross-legged in the vehicle and began to meditate.
  17. Yes. It's set up that way so that people don't have to take it into account for every attack that passes through a source, and so that a person taking cover behind it can make perception checks and attacks without being hindered by their own cover. This can be changed in specific instances should the MM wish too, but in general it ought to default to this. @Dutch Thriceman Unless I'm mistaken, you could easily move to F5 and attack from there.
  18. "Fine, I'll speak your language." And with those words Enson took in a deep breath and howled in the shaman's face. Enson will make an Intimidation check in the hopes of getting the Shaman to give up.
  19. Obscurement The following is a proposed system based on the effects of the spell Photonic Modulation. Obscurement is a system that comes into play whenever a character is, well, obscured. Most of this system can be modified to suit specific circumstances but the following is a general baseline. Firstly, Obscurement comes in several levels. These are: Light Obscurement ~ -2 to Perception Checks and Ranged attacks. Moderate Obscurement ~ -4 to Perception Checks and Ranged attacks. Heavy Obscurement ~ -6 to Perception Checks and Ranged attacks. Total Obscurement ~ -8 to Perception Checks and Ranged attacks. Obscurement has two forms. The first is AoE Obscurement which applies its penalties to all characters in a designated area, as well as all such checks into and out of it. Directional Obscurement on the other hand, requires some visual demonstration. Round tiles are Pips, square ones are... well, Tiles. Pips demonstrate firing positions, Tiles demonstrate defending positions. The big yellow block is a source of Obscurement. The white Tiles are not adjacent to the source of the Obscurement and Attacks and Perception Checks against them are not affected by the Obscurement rules. The purple Tiles apply Obscurement penalties to Attacks and Perception Checks from the red, orange, and yellow Pips, but not the green Pips, who have an unobstructed line-of-sight on them. The indigo Tile does not apply penalties to the green and yellow Pips, but does to the orange and red ones. The blue Tile would only apply penalties to the red Pips The black Pips do not take penalties to their Attacks and Perception Checks due to being adjacent to the source of Obscurement. Thoughts?
  20. OoC: Ronin will move to C3 and attack Hurler A.
  21. @CMP It might be good to specify that you want to go before Kirwin (you can do this due to having the same result on your initiative checks) so that your attack doesn't accrue range penalties due to the speeder's movement.
  22. Witnessing Ronin being struck repeatedly, Enson quickly intoned his healing chant again before rushing towards the enemy Shaman. Sliding to halt before them he rasped "Do you understand me?" Enson will cast Sustaining Healing on Ronin and move to F2.
  23. @Zepher Sealed also prevents rallying, you might want to Defend, Meditate, Try Something, Use an Item, Change Equipment, or Dash.
