  1. There are some really great entries, but I had to pick Eicker86. No foot prints in the snow... is there a window above the scene to reach out of? Well done. I like Woolie's alot too. Great composition. Maybe I'll make the Brickster MAD by suggesting it, but maybe everyone who submitted an entry should get a tag!
  2. Well that's interesting. Thanks for sharing it. It has a plate embedded in the cover. I'm not sure what you'd use that for, but, oh well, I like seeing new non-brick Lego products too.
  3. I agree that the Gandalf arrives set seems simple, but I look at it as almost a symbolic set. Gandolf arriving sets the stage for all three movies (and the Hobbit, for that matter), because once he shows up, everything changes. This set is a good introduction of what's to come. Perhaps the set should have been released first, to get folks interested in the upcoming first wave. I have no idea if Lego intended the set to be symbolic like that. Just a thought.
  4. Thanks for the review. This is a great view of the new C-3PO, and after seeing these picks, I like it. I wasn't sure before. I'll apply the stickers. But they seem to be a disproportionate amount of the detail on the pod. It would have been nice (though probably difficult to do) if some of that could have been greebling.
  5. Ah, I see now. It's the "Great Vehicles" not just some "great vehicles." I didn't know they were called that! I'll stick with the garbage truck, but I can't wait to get the recycling truck.
  6. I'd have to say the Garbage Truck, too. I don't have the dump truck yet, and I too think that if the recycling truck is included, I'd have to go with it. I'm not a fan of how Lego's camper trucks open, and the yellow car doesn't seem particularly unique to me. The ambulance isn't really doing anything for me either... maybe I'm just among those who prefer seeing more of these "civilian" vehicles and sets after so much public safety (fire, police, etc) over the past few years.
  7. That's funny! I'm from the US and when I see it I think the same thing!
  8. This is a great idea, and I really enjoyed KimT's interview. It's nice to get someone's perspective on things outside of a normal thread. I think its also nice to get to know about someone's life outside of Eurobricks in a way that they don't have to share too much "personal" detail. The way this was done really does that. Keep these interviews coming! By the way, one question, though... is it pronounced as one word, "Kimt" or two, like "Kim T?"
  9. This is great, Dix! It looks like it would fit right in. You've managed to squeeze all the features of a winter inn into a small space. It just needs a roaring fire for everyone to sit around!
  10. Thanks for the review. I'll be curious to see some side by side pics with the earlier version to compare. I too am disappointed that the rubber bands are still there, or at least, visible. There ought to be some way to better conceal them.
  11. I agree. The trailer is the perfect space to hide the mechanics. Great job!
  12. Have a Merry Christmas, Brickdoctor!
  13. This is great! I love how Vader is just sitting there with a cup of cocoa (or is it ?) while the snowtroopers do the dirty work. Great job, Bayou!
  14. I think you did a good job with the a-wing. It is a nightmare to figure out how to build the curves. When I was working on mine, I'd tinker, and tinker, change this, change that. Never could quite get it. I like the way you made the gap in the front. That's another one of the difficult things to get. I think I may have to build this version!
  15. OK, time for me to chime in. I love your falcon. You've gotten the shape down really well. Now I anxiously await the A-wing.....
  16. I have mixed feelings about this. My first reaction is that it would be going to far- maybe even almost making the minifigures more "cartoonish." But on second thought, I think I would like it. It would greatly increase durability, and probably look more realistic. It might limit the ability to put minifigs in vehicles, etc, but as is, you have to bend the cape anyway (I'm looking at you, Palpatine's shuttle). So I don't think it's too far. I'd rather see that than more detail.
  17. I wish they could have stayed with the faceless armless minifigs of my youth.... they seemed to be able to sit, and carry the stretcher, in my hospital set just fine! Sorry, I can't help but be sarcastic about this. I agree with surrideo. Minifigs have come so far, and that's progress. Lego has to keep up to compete for kid's attention, and their share of the marketplace. If that means more detail, then so be it, I can live with it, as long as Lego is able to stay in business so I can keep buying more Lego! Now, back to working on my faceless armless army building!
  18. Whoops! I didn't follow that thread. I feel kind of silly now for suggesting that!
  19. Ah, I think I see it now. The fin/stabilizer is attached via a technic pin to the round piece used in the engine. The part on the wing is a 2x2 plate with a circular tube on the bottom to accept a pin. Boy, this would be easier if I was more fluent in piece names. I never thought to do it this way. I tried various hinges, which helps get the angle, but it always raised the stabilizer off of the body too much, giving a less than satisfactory look. This still gives you a 90 degree angle. But, I have that anyway with the brick built versions (vs. plate built).
  20. I can see that you have the stabilizers attached with a technic pin. Forgive me for not being able to describe the exact pieces... how did you make the 90 degree angle?
  21. As an a-wing fan, I love your version. Your technique for attaching the top stabilizers intrigues me, because I've never been able to get that right with plates turned sideways. Also, the pieces used on your engines are something I may need to look into. Thanks for posting this!
  22. That would look great outside of a moc of the big "Classic Space" headquarters. Great work, PirateDave84!
  23. Today I received the Pet Shop and 2/2 Christmas set I ordered last Saturday for the VIP promotion. Used some points to get the total down to 100 US dollars. Not too bad...
  24. Fortunately my wife is mildly indulgent with my love of Lego and Star Wars so I put her on a mission to get this as soon as she saw it for me, because I was afraid it might become scarce, and wouldn't be able to get it... I expected it to be minifig size, but I like the size. Can't wait to see it on the tree. I wonder if they could have made it so that it can plug into a string of lights, so the lightsaber would light? Now that would have been great!
  25. What an amazing creation. Congratulations on a great job. I like the way the lights look in the cockpit.
