Wow! Thanks for that! I just ordered Helm's Deep for that great price! Hopefully it works. Weren't there some SW sets discounted from BN awhile ago that folks had trouble with getting the orders filled? I just finished building Moria and now have a complete Fellowship! I think I'm going to put the Moria pieces on a grey baseplate, like someone else mentioned.

1968 here... I inherited from my brothers 335 Transport Truck from 1967. I'd like to reassemble this but I think alot of parts are missing. Plus, several of the old doors and windows- like Window 1 x 6 x 2 with Shutters (part 646 on bricklink), and Red Technic, Gear Samsonite 42 Tooth (744 on bricklink). I have no idea what sets those were in. Am I too old to play with Lego ?

How about Eowyn for a promotional fig? She's one that could have multiple versions. I built Gandalf Arrives, Shelob, and the Urak-hai, and I think Eomer is one of my favorite minifigs of all time, especially when he's on horseback.

Overall I like the look of this, and plan to pick it up. The clock face bothers me, too, though. Just seems like for such a well known "clock" that that very commonly used clock piece is out of place. I wish there was another solution.

I don't think I've seen this mentioned before; with the Ironman helmet the white in the eyes is part of the mask. Why couldn't they do the same with Batman instead of the "headband" which limits the use of the unmasked head?

I think your choice of customer gave it away!

A grease gun? Nice work, lightningtiger, I like it.

Are those "old" Lego windows? I was just sorting through some 1970's Lego the other day, and they remind me of the (very) style/size windows and doors. If so, this is a fantastic use of old elements in a new creation. Regardless, I like it!

24) 1 point 28) 3 points 38) 2 points 44) 1 point I enjoyed all of then entries. Even though 24, 28 and 38 are not buildings I know, they look like good builds, which capture the "feel" of a good architecture set. 44 is perhaps a sentimental vote, but I do like the way the grill pieces were used to create the sides. Thanks for sharing the entries, everyone, and good luck!

I've bought plenty of sets from TRU. Sometimes I've regretted the higher price, but hey, I made the decision, I have to live with it. As some have said, it's a convenience issue. I have a Walmart and a Target locally, and I get to the Lego store occasionally, when I'm in other cities. I can always order from Shop at Home. Honestly, sometimes I'm just in the mood to buy Lego, and I'm near TRU. Done deal. I wish they didn't have the markup, but I'm not going to complain about it. They are a business, just like Lego, in the business to make money. I don't think it's worth complaining about, considering there are people who are on Eurobricks who don't have the Marvel sets yet, or who are paying twice as much as me. After all, I walked into TRU on a Sunday, on Easter, a holiday... and I bought Capt America. How can I complain?

I'm a fan of this y-wing, but I really wish they would do something different with the landing gear. As good a version as this is, it just doesn't look right on display to me. Thanks for the review!

Seems to me that much like custom weapons and accessories, there might be a market for capes in different colors and shapes. They could be used across all themes.

Architecture Contest: Ludwigskirche, Germany
Churchill replied to Skalldyr's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I agree. I think the way to gain support for an entry is through exposure as opposed to building suspense. Show us! -
Etzel, I've never seen the Castle, but you really captured the feel of it. Good job, and thanks for sharing it.

I am really pleased to see this theme get some attention. While I love the minifigure and all it entails, I think the architecture sets embody what Lego is all about- creating a model of something recognizable out of just regular bricks. Sure, they're just for display, but I have a great time building them. I wish I had the skill and confidence (and photography skills) to get in on a contest, but alas, I'll just have to admire everyone's work.

I'm generally a fan of the Architecture series, but I'm still not sold on this one. I also agree that some representation of water might have helped. Of course, I also agree that this would have been the perfect model to be done in a larger scale... Thanks for the great review, Siegfried, the "on location" pictures really help alot. I'd like to see more of these with the architecture sets.

Not just you. I have no interest in TOR. It's way too off of the timeline for one thing. I watch Clone Wars. The more I hear about this live action series, the less I think I'll be interested in it. So, no, you're not alone...

[quote name='Oky' date='05 February 2012 - 05:21 PM' timestamp='1328476881' post='1194982' Or they could just do the whole Star Trek thing where the time traveling creates an alternate universe/timeline, so none of the existing canon will get screwed up. It will be an alternate universe where everyone has big creepy eyes....

Maybe everything will get so screwed up that it will all end with Anakin waking up and realizing its just been a bad dream... Or maybe it could be Jar Jar's dream. That would be better....

Review: 9488 Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack
Churchill replied to Masked Builder's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for the great review, Masked, and congratulations on 4000! I may get this just for the minifigs. The cannon doesn't really do anything for me. -
Thanks for a great review. I too might get this just for the bear and those "brick" 1x2 bricks. It's better than having to buy the bigger station. I've gotten more than enough police over the past few years.

These are all just ways that we try to explain the discontinuity between the OT and PT. I doubt that there was any deep meaning to the blandness of the OT duels when they were being written/directed. I can come up with a hundred and one reasons to explain the discontinuity between the series to make myself feel better. Lucas may come up with some "official" reasons. But none of those were true in 1977. Better special effects make maker duels. We just have to live with it, I guess.

I always figured the "old folks home" was just part of the code. I continue to struggle with the OT Obi-wan in light of how he's portrayed in the PT and the CW. I know that Lucas was/is just able to have him appear so much more vibrant in the PT/CW, but it distresses me that now when we watch ANH he seems to have lost so much power. (Of course, I also feel that way about Vader) He's obviously being genuine when he says that he never owned a droid. I don't understand why R2 wouldn't have been able to remind Obi of who he was. I'm resigned to the fact that the order of the movies and the ever expanding universe is the whole cause of this. I'll never be able to come to terms with these inconsistencies because retconning them in any way doesn't really solve the problem. It's just to make us sleep better at night. And it doesn't work. Maybe Obi-Wan was the one who had his mind wiped.

Fallen, I've been thinking that since I built my TIE- I wish they could have incorporated a rear viewport. I never noticed that symbol before, and don't think I've seen it elsewhere. Any idea of the significance? Even though for a fact we can see that there are some variations in color, I would think any symbol like this would go against the supposed uniformity of the TIEs.

The orcs look like the CMF werewolf to me. I think they have too much hair... I think a printed head would have looked better, though, you wouldn't be able to get raised ears. I'm also underwhelmed with the ringwraiths. I suppose they look as we would have expected though. Good to see that Boromir has the red arms. Nonetheless... yep, I'll be buying all the sets to get the minifigs.
