1. thanks! 2. thanks again! 3. in the painting I based fitzroy on, he does have yellow epaulettes, but I do not have any yellow epaulettes. I tried to paint the white ones, but it turned out a wierd shade of yellow. But yes, you are correct, he should have yellow epaulettes. 4. I've got all summer to do whatever, which includes working on the ship... I'm pretty sure it'll be done by August (at least construction will, rigging will take quite some time) 5. Only the part of the deck inbetween the fore/mainmasts will be removable, and the rigging shouldn't get in the way of making the poopdeck removable, though I'm not quite sure how or if I can make forecastle deck removable.

I hope to be done with the ship by the end of July, maybe August. That's about 4 months. I've already spent a month on this, and it's about 1/4th of the way done, so hopefully I can finish by the time 9th grade comes around...

I cannot tell a lie! Here's the update! I'd really like to know if the shape is looking good so far. To me it seems to be coming along well, but i'd like to know what you guys think. As well, it seemed like a good opportunity to get another shot in with Fitzroy and Darwin... ... they'd make great sigfigs, eh? Thank you all for your comments! I hope I can get some more, because they're always so helpful... P.S. I tried to get a pic in of me holding the ship, but couldn't find out how to make the camera stall before taking the picture. At the moment the ship is a little less than 3 feet from tip to tip, should be a little more than 3 when I'm done. I hope this means you guys aren't going to dought the fact that it's minifig scale... P.P.S. I bought exactly 98 1x2 plates from PAB, they came in, and guess how many I have left? 4... lol I thought I would've had PLENTY of 1x2's, but alas, I underestimated the ship's sheer size once again...

Meh, its better than the rochester's... I can only wonder what you've been planning for the last 8 months...

Who would ever buy lego rockband? Lego videogames were fun back when I was 9 and the original lego starwars game came out. Nowadays they seem rather childish. Though I don't think you get the point of this topic, which I may remind you, is for the purpose of introducing pirates into more battles of retribution, who are known as "green coats", though they don't necissarily wear green coats.

Your welcome! Can't wait to see how the ship turned out!

si. As well, zuloo's Granduer, CGH's Le Requiem, and Admiral croisant's La Vesta have very nice sterns. The stern on my Circumstance turned out really well too. BTW, do you have any ships Hound Knight? Edit: The USS constitution has a rather nice stern too...

Its a good thing i'm a redcoat! we've had plenty of nice additions lately, with your amazing fortress leading the way

Yes, this is where you post topics concerning ANYTHING to do with pirate lego that isn't a MOC. well... sterns............................. sterns are rather tough to do, and i'm sure most would agree... for one, you'll need to know its basic shape. is it boxy? round? slanted at the back? in what ways are it slanted? is it on multiple decks? Does the shape go along with the 'shape' of the rest of the ship? second, you need an idea of how and where you'll position the windows. What kind of windows will you use? how many? next, you'll need to know what the walls atop the sterncastle will be like. In the HMS circumstance (see the link in my sig) I used a solid wall. In the IFS, a "wooden" railing is used. In the HMS Beagle, I'm going to use a railing made of rope. next, you need to turn this idea into reality. Does it look right? are the any changes i ought to make? does it follow the colorscheme? is it the right size? next, comes detailing. There's a few ways of doing detail. for one, you'll probably be using a lot of 1x1 cones. second, it needs to flow nicely with the colorscheme. third, it all needs to flow together nicely, and eloquently. Do I have enough detail? Do I have too much detail? Lanterns? Outcroppings*? Does it POP enough? Does it NOT pop enough? Is it attractive? before you design your stern, look at the sterns of some ships of a similar size. I could imagine that your doing a somewhat small ship, Here is an example of a stern for a 'smaller' ship hope that helps!

"We were kinda cheated this year" - Discuss.
the_green_avenger replied to Mercenary's topic in LEGO Pirates
It doesn't entirely count as a 2009 line set, since it wasn't released along with them, but I'd most definately say it's the best PIRATE lego set ever, with the exception of the price. But that's the only NEW pirate set I have, though I agree a bit with mercenary on the fact that the pirates seemed a little too happy... It would be realistic for pirates to be all mean looking, but the sets are kid oriented (with the exception of the IFS, which says 14+). As well, it's no different from the old pirate line(s) where every single minifig has a smile on their face. I would completely disagree that "we were kinda cheated this year" because, for one, lego accually brought the pirate line back. Second, there was little you could ask for that wasn't included in the line (though a fortress may have been nice) and third, most everything was rather original, and there was little to complain about. -
Yeah, it looks better now, though I think you should put some black into the walls and possibly make them 1/3rd of a brick shorter. The figurehead you used wasn't exactly the one I had in mind, though it looks fine at the moment. The figurehead tends to reflect the name of the ship, or vice-versa, so I was thinking you'd do a bull or something. P.S. in the first pic you can see the leg of the AT-AT, kinda funny. It also looks like those clones are about to get run over

lets see... its march 22, and you posted that on february 13... that's over five weeks Ah well... I'm not complaining, besides, your pretty much done On the headrails, you could do them in pure black, or mainly black and a little white, something like that. You'd have enough pieces, and it'd look slightly better too...

LOL. TOYriffic... That's kindo like a suthern aksent -
WOW! Great job!

I was thinking of a different bow design, that i'm sure you'd agree looks better, and you can include a figurehead (like chewbacca) here's a model I whipped together: The design is simple, though i'm not sure its exactly the same shape as yours, you get the idea. The secret is a bunch of 1x2 plates hiding under the 1x16, that allows for the angle: Hope that helps!

My dad asked if I had built enough ships yet When someone looks at you for a long period of time and doesn't say anything, it usually means 'I don't know' If you are going to keep the wallrailingthingamabobers you ought to get rid of any space underneath it, and make it level throughout. Agreed, no figurehead...

Yes! you get a comment from me! Great ship! I esspecially like all the wierd elements you put into the bow Is it just me, or does that deck look as though its made of wood? Glad to see another great moc, and another great member P.S. I'm 6530!!! Burn!!!
