Great MOC! You put so much great detail in that tiny little 16x16 space! I'm esspecially glad you had a nice interior to compliment the rest of your amazing MOC. I think you should have enough cannons! The overall structural design is fantastic! Wonderful moc, absolutely splended! Three thumbs up!

REFERENCE Dusting Lego displays and layouts
the_green_avenger replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The best way to prevent ANY dust whatsoever (if your willing to spend some $) is to make a case. HERE is a good tutorial for doing so... -
I have seen plenty of great ship mocs out there and thought I might ask this question for all you "experienced" Ship builders. If you were to point out a few DEFINING attributes of a great ship moc, what would they be?
-
Alright, I guess I shouldn't've really criticized on spelling. (thats what you moderators are for...) And IMO i like to see lots of rigging on ships. Kinda as a sign of quality. Which I think adds a lot to this ship...

WOW! the whole thing looks amazing! Napolean Bonaparte once said: "Genuis is an infinate attention to detail" And if thats true, your a genius... I would really like to know how you did the spiral staircase. Got any shots with the light on?

Umm... About that $500, I sorta need that for getting the Frekin huge millenium falcon... Still seems like a bit much... For The granduer, (16 cannons, should be 18) I spent $0 out of pocket. Implementing the prefab hulls would help A LOT with cost, And I'm not so sure you really NEED a harbour... All in all, looks good. Which means it'd be even better in real life!!!!!1!!1!one1! On a side note, If you give me some of that lemonade (hopefully its good) I might loan you a buck or two...

So am I but I can spll correctly And there's no such thing as too much rigging, If you look at real life ships, they've a lot more rigging than this... Most rivers are at least 8 inches wide...

You can get some Plastic "glass" panes at home depot, or lowes pretty cheap, And you can find a 1/8 in. thick one, thats easy to cut to the desired deminsions. Its fairly cheap, and very professional looking. Theres a tutorial HERE As for prices, it would be a good idea to hold onto ALL your lego... Prices of lego sets go up typically a year after they've been discontinued. The Black seas barracuda. (I have one and have been thinking of selling it) Can go for $500 in good condition. I once saw one in mint condition, unopened, that started auction at $500, and the winning bid was a little under $1000. It really all depends on how much you want money, and how much you want to hold onto your legos

I was searching around flickr and found this lovely MINIFG SCALE!!!!! !!!, whaling boat. Its a boat, aint it? I've seen spaceships here on classic pirates, and this fits just as well as a spaceship does... Either way, hope you like it (Again this is not mine, sadly) More pictures HERE

Great ship Some of the things seem a little funny, like the striped masts and the white rigging. Its good, accually great rigging, just it'd look better in brown/black. Also interesting how you decided to use a dowel for the bowsprit. The sails look good, but if your going for an old style look, don't wrinkle the sails, instead, dip them in some coffee/tea, to give them a light brown color. Those headrails are really great... IMO they might look better in a different color. The stern looks great! Thats probably my favorite part, great job on that Overall theres a couple things you could fix, Though I see that having the rigging already done, it might be hard to tweak some things. Good effort! P.S. Spllng corrctlee rlly hlps

Elves and organization definately help... But two days still seems pretty quick.

Amazing detail once again! How the hell do you get such a great moc done, barely two weeks after posting another amazing moc? You've got a good eye for Quality... But how do you work so fast?
-
Interesting small little MOC. It doesn't seem so scary, but thats just lego... oh well, Great work! That would be cool if there was a skeleton monkey and skeleton shark... But then again, sharks don't have bones...
-
I think Brown will be a lasting color. Though you can also get black/green, and white/blue. I would love it if they had LARGER hull parts. (that would be usefull) On the side of colors... I would like to see gray hulls. Blacks not a bad color either. It would be really awesome if there was a chrome hull... now THAT would be interesting...

Thanks for the review! I wish lego was still producing these. So prices on bricklink wouldn't keep going up. I do like the fact that you can get two (good) minifigs AND a firning cannon in one set, Really almost no other point in buying it On an off topic note I also like PI... 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884

Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!
the_green_avenger replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Man... both you and teddy have had extremely slow progress on your ships. Hope you get around to fixing your camera. (and those dockworkers rebuilding the real thing) Words cannot descibe how excited I am about this project! I probably don't need to tell you this, but keep up the great* work! *When I say great, I mean super, totally, extremely, insanely awesome... -
Great ship! I like everything about it! That rigging is superb! CGH's tutorial sure is helpful, eh? The color scheme is perfect. The snot flooring looks great. And the stern is like, WOW! 10/10 P.S. Why'd you say its a 12 gunner? there's only 10... Edit: sorry, I forgot I already posted...

Dr. Steve's Modified Imperial Flagship
the_green_avenger replied to Dr. Steve's topic in Pirate MOCs
On the note of color changes, those "hitch" pices that connect to the robot arms, that connect the rigging (is that specific enough, or do I need a pic?) Should have a different color besides gray. The white windows Do in fact look better. As well, I think the captains cabin is already at a sufficient height and doesn't need any changes. -
WOW!!!!! seems very tall. Most ships with more than one gun deck tend to curve inward at the sides. Look at this Link. Besides That, The ship looks great! Wonderful color scheme and everything! If you want everything viewable, make sure the pics are in GMP format and 800x600 max. DOn't worry. Its a common mistake easily fixed. Love the ship! P.S. I REALLY like the sails! what material are they?
-
Interesting. The colors throw everything off a little. But I do like some of the detail you put into it. Not bad. The hand made sails are a definate +. The crayon colored flag needs fixing though... The way you did the replacement for the midsection seemed odd, though I like how it goes along well with the robusk feel of the ship. IMO its good, esspecially for your first.

Wow! thats some amazing detail you've got on there! The fort itself is just an amazing piece of architecture! Great work on the cliff, dock, everything! No complaints here. Absolutely Stunning 10/10
