[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
AndyC replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Going through all these for indexing, I'm surprised how few Classic Space sets have appeared given the parts that got added last time. So, to correct that, here's a little one from me. 6822 Space Digger - Theme: Space (Duplicate) LXF File Only the brick piece (792c01) used to attach the arm is missing, so it's been substituted by a grouped collection of bits.- 5,046 replies

It is, fifth one along in the top row of transparent colours is no 111 Trans-Brown, 43 Trans-Blue is the seventh. -

The official Lego name for Trans-Black/Smoke is actually Trans-Brown and it is available in LDD Extended Mode. -
Love it. The Jack Sparrow face on the suited guy just fits perfectly too.

Hehe, McGyver. Well now I have to get this set.

Ha! It's just like an action movie! Absolutely and completely brilliant. I can't even begin to imagine how much time went into getting that just right. The animation is spot on, the characters believable and the script had me laughing out loud more than once. Will have to go watch the other one now.

Ladyfigs aside, going through some of the building instructions on this theme, the sets are looking great. The way the burger is constructed in the City Park Cafe is pure Lego genius. And there are copious amounts of interesting accessories that are equally usable in minifig creations. I kind of don't want to like these, as I could do with saving some cash, but it's pretty hard not to. Immeasurably better than Belville, possibly even nicer than Paradisa.

No, it's most definitely real, I actually checked Twitter at the time. Only the middle comment is from Lego. The only way in which it could be 'fake' is that LEGO_Group isn't a verified account, so potentially could be anyone but the activity there doesn't seem to suggest a faked account. It's still possible that it was someone responding without proper authority or knowledge, but it seems most unlikely.

LDD 4 and 'Outlines on Bricks'
AndyC replied to livens's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It's not obvious which line in preferences is responsible, however I believe it's entirely dependent upon whether your graphics card supports Pixel Shader 3 shaders or not, so if it's greyed out it's never going to work with your card. -
It's a neat solution, but probably not stable enough for little kids playing about when there isn't a droid in the socket, I can imagine the middle of the ship getting constantly squashed would annoy many of them.

Probably the best place to look would be the old catalog scans on Peeron, they're probably all in their somewhere.
-
Probably the easiest way is to look through the Bricklink Inventory of the set, that's usually the way I check for things.

It might be, there is a bug in IE that causes it to lose some cookies in the event of a crash (and sometimes an IE crash you didn't notice because the PC was rebooting). Not usually a particularly big deal to log back in again on the rare occasions I notice it.

One of the issues with the particular piece of malware in question is that it infects the browser chrome where possible and tends to "pop up" when browsing other sites, so that the source of the infection isn't obvious. If you're experiencing it, you should probably install and run a reputable anti-virus tool to fully clean the system of any infection.

I've noticed a definite improvement since the upgrade, before it was starting to get quite sluggish and often timing out. Now it's super speedy again, so it seems to have done the trick.

All good suggestions. I'd almost go with Flying Mummy Attack too, but was swayed at the last minute by the Tripod Invader. Retro B-Movie alien invaders are just too cool.

Lego electric light bricks use with power functions
AndyC replied to PFtrainsman's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Even the 8871 PF extension cable should do, the underside of one of the plugs is an old-style 9V connector, just like on 8886 (in fact the only difference is the cable length). -
bricksmith/LDRAW part coding
AndyC replied to SNIPE's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The entire LDRAW file format is documented here, using that you should be able to translate the files and see how they need to be modified to create new parts. -
I wonder if maybe that's the problem. They were launched as one-off waves and then six months later parents were asking why they couldn't get another set to go along with the one they bought earlier in the year. Maybe they've learnt that whilst one-off waves are low risk, they're problematic for purchasers who then tend to steer towards things like Star Wars that they know they'll be able to add to six months or a year down the line.

REVIEW: 8827 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6
AndyC replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great review of an excellent series. Picked up a few in the city this morning whilst doing some xmas shopping: celt, mechanic, liberty, surgeon and a roman. Excellent haul given they were randomly picked by the assistant from a box behind the counter. -
8110 Unimog building time?
AndyC replied to bekesizoltan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It took me several days to put mine together, but I wasn't in any rush. And naturally I just dumped all the bags into one box together, so finding bits took longer, it's the only way to build a massive Lego set! -
Lando basically highlighted the problem in a theme that had been full of yellow figs, the NBA gave TLG a chance to trial fleshies, the end result was a decision to move all licensed themes to fleshies to avoid this whole thing in future.

And, in any case, a Lego dwarf's head would be the same size as a Lego human's.
