Picked this up the other day as I was looking for a cheap set with Batman in. Whilst the Joker's copter is definitely the better half of the set, I do like the Batwing more than I expected. I don't really get what the whole wing splitting thing is for but as the previous Batwing set did something similar I'm assuming it's based on some comic book version. Thankfully it's not difficult to lock the wings in place without upsetting the overall design, so not a big deal. I'm puzzled by the printing of Batman's head though, if the white stripe is there for his Batman eyes, what's the point of printing an actual face on it for? It's not like you can use that head without the cowl on, because that big white block sticks out like a sore thumb. If they'd wanted to include both styles a double sided head with Bruce's face on one side and the Batman stripe on the back would probably make more sense, at least a hair piece could then be used to hide it. Still definitely a solid 4 out of 5 set and a pleasant surprise.

I know what you mean, but if the Hobbit sets are scheduled for release early next year it's not going to make a big difference as the lead time on designing sets is so long, they'll still be based on pre-production artwork just as with Indy 4 and PotC 4.

I think it's most impressive that you've made such a nice little model using that baseplate, no mean feat. You've done a great job of injecting a real sense of the atmosphere in the position and poses of the minifigs too.

In case anyone hasn't seen the news, there's confirmation on Brickset that the 4x4 Rock Crawler will include two new motors for drive and a new servo motor for steering. Also news that the 9396 Helicopter isn't motorised (but can be, presumably with the standard PF pack) and that it does indeed include new parts to provide tilting rotors, which will be excellent for making more realistic helicopter MOCs.

Plenty of sets have slipped out in the past with little mistakes in the instructions, i distinctly remember an oddity in the Endor Bunker set that suggested you had to put a four long brick on three studs (or something along those lines). Mistakes like that usually get corrected in later issues sets. More often than not it's hardly a big deal as the 'correct' positioning of something is usually obvious on the next page, even more so given how simplified the instructions tend to be these days.

Unless they were exceptionally religious pirates.

In any case the shade of grey/blue his hat is in the film is probably closer to bley than it is to any of Lego's blue shades.

Given the number of dwarves in The Hobbit, it's probably done like that to reduce the number of new molds needed to give them all a different look. Surprised to see a molded ring piece, nice if rather oversized, although I'm imagining that having gone to that effort we're going to see the ring in practically every set (possibly in pairs) and they'll start to get as plentiful as Jack Sparrow's compasses!

If you're just looking for a way of securing a permenant (or semi-permanent) layout, the sleepers do have a couple of holes in them where the pins they ship with hold them together. It should be relatively easy to fix the tracks down through those, which might be a considerably cheaper option than buying baseplates to cover your layout area. Dunno about anyone else, but I also hang on to the pins themselves as they're just the right size to clip into a minifigs hand and I'm convinced I'll find a MOCing use for them some day.

It should be near the end of the address bar, like so: When it's coloured blue like that, IE's "broken page" mode is turned on for the site/page. If not, just click it to enable it.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

I bought a MISB 4483 about 2 years back and one of the old grey technic bricks was slightly deformed, I contacted customer service (not really expecting much) and they sent me a replacement pretty quickly and no, I didn't have to pay. It's worth asking just in case. -
They were mostly battle droids though, which are much cheaper to produce than ordinary minifigs (simpler pieces, no pre-assembly required).

It's called Medium Blue, both to TLG and on Bricklink. Hope that helps!

Hehe, you caught me mid sneaky editing. Descriptions of the errors are now inserted. I was planning to see if I could find a good replacement for the tires, the pieces you used in yours are ok so I may go with those unless I can scaffold something more accurate looking. In any case I figured I'd put these up now while I have a play around.- 5,046 replies

Roller/Shutter Doors

Yep, they're present. Parts 4218 and 4219. -
If you're using a recent version of Internet Explorer, that behaviour seems to be caused by the forum software sending older HTML to IE. If you turn on the broken page function for EB, by clicking the little torn page icon near refresh, you'll find things work as expected.

I'm not sure the compare models feature is entirely working (or possibly I'm using it wrong). If two models have the same piece but differ only by quantity it doesn't show up in the results. It's the first time I've really tried this in anger, so I don't know if the same happened previously. I've worked around it by just copy/pasting the BoMs for the models into Excel and doing a comparison there, but it'd be a lot easier if LDDManager was showing these instead.

That's from the current line, which has the ninjago guys fighting snake people. It's not supposed to have anything to do with pirates, I'm not sure where that suggestion has come from.

Welcome back colour
AndyC replied to MadManMingo's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
As a final hint, LDD does have a "Select all pieces in the same colour" tool, which when combined with the paint tool in Extended Mode is a godsend if you do a lot of building and then realise you had the wrong shade (or you just decide to try out a different colour). It's a little quirky to use since the last interface update but basically the steps are: 1) Choose the colour you want to change to in the painting tool 2) Select the paint tool [this is the key step, it won't work if the decoration or colour picker tool is selected] 3) Switch to the selection tool and select the colour select tool 4) Click one of the bricks in the colour you want to replace 5) Click the paint tool button in the toolbar, this will repaint all the selected bricks -
To me it is and always was about the Lego. I've never had any real interest in model trains, they're ok to look at for a short while but always seem a bit dull beyond that.

I don't agree that because something generates controversy that there is something inherently wrong with it. The first feminists were extremely controversial. Most things of merit are, in some cirles, considered controversial.
