  1. Alas I think they were the days when TLG weren't really aware of how much it was actually costing to produce a set, things were just put together with what looked right and set at a price that seemed reasonable. These days they are acutely aware of exactly what it will cost to produce a piece, right down to knowing the effect a colour change will have. That makes the inclusion of lots of expensive to produce minifigs less likely, given that it means sacrificing a lot of bricks and thus good detailing to do so.
  2. It doesn't have anything to do with ActiveX or plugins at all. The message indicates that something on the page is being served over https, but from a site whose certificate doesn't appear to be valid. I've not seen it all using IE9, anyone using older browsers might want to check they have the latest versions of the root certificates installed from Windows Update (or the Mac/Android equivalents). A link to a page that causes the error consistently might help pinpoint the cause.

  4. Look for something on the page that's missing. My bets would be an advert, someone's avatar or an image in someone's signature.
  5. Use one big sticker, then very careful application of a sharp blade along the joins. Hey presto, individual stickers that all line up. Of course, now you've done these, you need to get a few of these and make the grand daddy of all Astromechs!

  7. Indeed. And even some of the "sales" may just be Bricklink sellers trading sets between themselves by "selling" at raised prices to try to help keep the value inflated.
  8. Pretty much spot on from my recollection of the official PF documentation.
  9. Hmm, very odd. If you put axles in all the holes, what it identifies as connected depends on where you click: The belt - None of the axles, the conveyor piece moves by itself. The edges - Axles in the middle 3 holes on either side are "connected" and move with the conveyor, the end ones (in the rollers) stay where they were The rollers - It only highlights the roller and axles connected to it, moving the piece moves the conveyor and the axles in the roller you click but leaves all the others where they were. It would seem that LDD is unaware that the rollers are connected to the belt and side pieces, which they probably should be.
  10. Cool idea. I loved the Artic Expedition technic sets as a kid, so it's nice to see someone giving them a bit of a nod. Love the skiing figure too.
  11. Grrr. That's annoying as I actually thought that "looked" more right, but went by the Peeron colour chart (although Peeron's labelling of Paradisa colours doesn't seem terribly consistent), maybe we need the ultimate official Aanchir colour chart instead! Anyway fixed all those little niggles now and here's a few extras to almost complete the Paradisa range. 6414 Dolphin Point - Theme: Town LXF File Baseplate substituted Pink curved staircase substituted Windsail omitted 6418 Country Club - Theme: Town LXF File Pink curved staircase substituted
  12. Well both Pneumatics and Train fans have been asking for servo motors capable of switching valves/points for a long time and something between the M and XL motors has also been requested a fair bit. And whilst there are a bunch of AFOL solutions for return to centre steering, they tend to use either rarer parts like the hockey spring and/or tend to put the motors under stresses that wouldn't pass TLG's standards. A proper solution for those will be really handy. RF control might be nice, but I'm not sure it's as universally applicable. The vast majority of Lego creations probably work just as well with IR.
  13. It works in Firefox, but the CSS seems to be broken in at least IE9.

  15. A mixture of both, with very little "rules" between what stays built and what gets dismantled. All my modulars are still together, but my UCS Falcon has made it's way into the parts bins. I still have Dooku's Solar Sailor assembled and on display (and it's not even a great set) but Eldorado Fortress is in pieces. The only set I know I could never bring myself to break apart is Jabba's Sail Barge, it just looks too nice.
  16. Another thing, that often gets overlooked, is that the more people go out and hoard such sets for future sale, the less their resale value will actually be. Demand and supply controls pricing in the secondary market and a much larger supply of secondaries will drive prices down. And, of course, if nobody ever did this buying sets that have gone out of production would be extremely difficult if not impossible. The only thing that bugs me about it is when someone swoops in and buys all the copies of a set that have gone on sale, with the intention of selling on, before others get a chance to pick them up. And that's mostly because sales were often my best chance of affording a set as a kid. Can't really blame anyone for doing that though, I'd probably be tempted myself if I had the cash (although I might use the pieces rather than sell on).
  17. The IR reciever is in LDD, in the motor category. It has the AA battery box too, although not the AAA one yet unfortunately.
  18. "Better" is subjective, but anything based on LDraw will allow anything at all (including utterly impossible things like plates going through the middle of bricks) so you could use one of those. MLCad, LeoCAD and SR3D are the names that spring instantly to mind. The price you pay for such flexibility is that they're typically harder to learn to use than LDD.
  19. If you're prepared to share the LXF, I'm sure someone here could just run it through LDDManager for you.
  20. In the mean time, I've put a screenshot up which should show the corner you're after: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/600/lddscreenshot1.png/
  21. LOL. That's some serious Star Wars geekery right there. Brilliant.

  24. My falcon came with only those anyway, and they can easily be turned so the slot in them isn't visible if it bothers. Mine actually came with a mix of these, they're used as greebling and for the laser cannons. Again I'd probably go with whatever is cheapest as it's not going to make a great difference in the long run.
